My HP Envy TouchSmart Notebook has been popping at the hinges - which SEPARATES THE CASING - upon opening and closing, and even when adjusting the position of the screen while open. The casing comes apart at the seams on both the left and right sides near the back corners by the hinges. It WILL snap back, but the instant you move the screen at all, it pops it again. Now it seems to be affecting functionality! :/ My touchpad only works a portion of the time, the screen will go black, and it is running tremendously slow/slow to respond to clicking and/or typing. I NEED to use my laptop, but this happens EVERY time! I'm afraid it is going to damage my computer which is otherwise a great machine, and I shouldnt have to buy another $1000+ PC because of some faulty design in the hinges and casing.

 

I've seen other posts, so this is apparently a known issue, as there have been several complaints of the same happening to many many people. And because my warranty is expired, I must pau $60 just to speak with a support agent? This is a manufacturing defect obviously, in the physical components, not a "technincal support" or software or harware issue. Is there a way to easily fix this? Or has anyone had any luck with finding a solution from HP?? Thanks bunches!

Need to ID component Y2 on motherboard of df1200. This component melted and could be easily replaced. It is probably a Zener diode of some sort

Hello Community,

 

                              I have recently updated my laptop to windows 10 from windows 8. Everything looks better with the new addition  even the new features are cool too, but my problem is when i connect my charger to the PC the screen goes black dead or say it sleeps, which is causing me trouble while doing my stuff. Please help me to solve this issue.

HELP .... . Yes I get the Black screen.  Prior to getting the Black screen, I get flickering.  If I hook my laptop to an external monitor I can operate the laptop.  I have tried many things in many videos ... nothing works.  Any suggestions????

Please update the driver, its stil 14.502.1028.0 for windows 8.1 x64.

On Amd driver webpage new derivers like 16.3.2 or 16.5.2.1 are not working, 

the mouse pointer freezes for some time on display with these driver (tried to solve but no solution).

With older driver 14.502.1028.0 geme performanc is su**s .

So please suggest me which driver i should use or me give any solution for newer drivers.

Hi! 

I have been having an issue with my touchscreen... it doesn't respond at all. 

My laptop is the HP Pavillion Notebook 15 in touchsmart (N5P48UA#ABA). It is running on (freshly updated) Windows 10, and is only 5 months old.

 

The Issue: 

Several days ago my touch screen stopped responding - at first it was intermittent on-and-off. As of recent it has not been functioning period. Everything else works fine on the laptop, and there are no damages or cracks in the screen.

 

Steps I have taken to resolved the issue (all have failed):

• I cleaned off the screen with a screen-wipe 
• I restarted my laptop
• I restored the laptop to factory settings
• I received chat support and then remote support from HP (didn't do anything)
• I spent over an hour on the phone with HP support (wasted time)
• And of course, I have done plenty of research on the internet.

Conclusions that may aid a solution. After spending a ton of time trying to fix this, I know what the problem is not.

 

1. In Device Manager there are only two drivers listed under Human Interface Devices (HID- compliant wireless radio controls & HP Wireless Button Drive). Its almost like the touch screen driver... doesn't even exist.
   • As a side note, while the touchscreen was working, There were several more drivers listed under the HID section... its almost like they dissapeared.
2. On the HP site, there are drivers that you can download, but the HID drivers that I need are not listed
3. The touch HID drivers are not hiding in any other sections. Trust me, I've looked in the USB section numerous times.

I already updated my Microsoft Display Basic Adapter but my notebook won't project. This occured after I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1

Greetings,

 

Windows 10 installed on my wife's laptop automatically, when she told me I didn't believe it but after doing some research it's happening to alot of people. 

 

The first thing I noticed was the touchpad didn't work, I could move the pointer around but that was it.   After much research  I schooled up on windows 10 and this issue and quickly learned that alot of people seem to have this same problem.  I'm not going to bother you with everything I did to get the tap feature to work that's easy business, the scroll feature is the tough bit.

 

Listen up HP:

I went to the Lenovo website downloaded and intalled their driver onto your machine and it works with Windows 10.  You cats should be embarrased.   Yes this fixed the scroll issue.   Will Windows 10 change it the next time it updates? Probably, but how about yall, get off your rear ends and support your customers and provide us a driver fix for this,  Lenovo figured it out why can't yall?

The driver:  V16.6.4.13

If your touchpad isn't working at all connect a mouse up and keep it moving.

 

You need to go into device manager and intall from there.   Download the file whereever you want it to live, create an empty folder, next extract the downloaded files contents into the new folder you created.   You will need to open the new folder, open the WinDVF folder, then open the x64 folder.   You will need to copy this path.    Next go to device manager, click on mice and other device tab on the tree.  You should see PS2 Touchpad device or similar, click on that, click on the driver tab, next click on update driver, select browse my computer for driver software.  The screen that opens up: paste the path I mentioned above and click next.  Easy business after that, the driver will install and you'll have to restart your computer.

 

Seriously, HP yall have alot of folks out there with Windows 10 and laptops that aren't fully functional because you haven't done anything to fix this.    Bad Business.

my laptop battery does not charge,  and the screen is blinking. I thought it may be due to the battery. I took out the battery and used mains power only. the screen still keeps blinking.

the machine will then automatically turn off after a while. the on/off button blinks.  the machine will not turn on unless I disconnect the mains and reconnect after a wait.  Is it possible that the machine is turning off after getting hot?

Blinking screen - is it due to the software or hardware? Any clues please

Note book Model:

HP Stream K3Y65UA 13-C077NR Notebook PC - Intel Celeron N2840 2.16 GHz Dual-Core Processor - 2 GB DDR3L SDRAM - 32 GB eMMC Hard Drive Capacity

 

Problem:

Click pad mouse is acting funnt/ wierd. Mouse on screen jumps across screen, changes zoom view of screen when i slide my finger across pad to move mouse,  doesn't click when I press clickpad untill 4th time.

 

I only have had this computer for about a year and ahalf and It's been acting this way for 2 or 3 days now and I don't want it to get anyworse. I don't know if it's because my computer is getting a little hot within the first 10 minutes or something else. I didn't download any new programs recently it just started acting up.

 

Also if you know how to clean a the hp pc notebook fans please let me know.

 

Failed Solutions:

 

I tried updating my synaptics but my computer says i already have the lastest version. Tried turning off mouse/ pointer precision and restarting my pc but that didn't work.

 

I could really use some help it's my only computer i have and I can't afford a new one.

Why do you format a laptop while changing its screen? I've sent my laptop to service 2 times with a screen failure and HP's technical guys formatted it twice. Would somebody mind to give a logic answer for this?

I have dug out my old GV8000 for the grandchildren to play on rather than messing up my machine, however I find it has developed a display fault since it was banished to the darkest corner of the garage. The symptons are:

 

The bios battery is flat.

 

LCD Panel has no display.

 

VGA Monitor has various patterns overlaying the display, I'll describe them is as much detail as possible in the hope that they mean something to someone.

 

BIOS screen has pattern of vertical 1px red lines

 

The Windows F8 screen has a pattern of ASCII type characters over whole screen and is constantly refreshed.

 

Windows splash screen has similar pattern to BIOS screen but green lines.

 

Normal mode boot hangs after the splash screen

 

Safe mode loads ok but vertical lines are now blue and colours are wrong.

 

Device Manager reports the display adaptor as NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400

 

Device Manager does not show any errors in safe mode.

 

I've never had any reason to have the back of this one so I have no experience of the contents. I assume this is a hardware problem. Is the machine a scrapper, is there a video daughter board  or is it on the mobo?

About 2 months ago, seemingly out of nowhere, a black spot appeared on my screen. I have had this laptop for about 2 years with no problems until the spot showed up. I presumed it was dead pixels, but was unable to fix it myself. The spot has now escalated into a huge white area with multiple blue and pink lines running both horizonatally and vertically. I have to struggle with the screen just to keep it from constantly turning pink and/or blue. I've attached a photo of what my screen currently looks like (put against a black background so you can better see the issue). It's very frustrating that it keeps getting worse even though I'm being as careful as I possibly can with my computer. This is my last ditch effort to see if there's possibly any solution to this problem before I just buy a new laptop altogether. It seems like a better solution than having my LCD display replaced, which I know is very expensive. Thank you for any and all help.

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion dv6 and I am running windows 10 Home 64 bit system. I am trying to get Skype to work and it cannot find my webcam. We have a Cyberlink YouCam preinstalled with the computer and I have done all necessary updates to the webcam from the Cyberlink website. Any help to get this up and running would be great - my husband has an interview to do via skype early next week.

I have turn my notebook on twice and it was fine. After 1st time charge and the screen stays blank. The power n cap keys lights up tho. I would try hard reset but battery is built in. Any suggestion?

I have played games in full screen in my PC in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit But now that I have upgraded to Windows 10 64 Bit, I can not play games in full screen. I don't know what's the problem. My AMD Graphics driver and amd catyalyst control center was not working  from the past 15 days and MY SYSTEM GOT HANGED AGAIN AND AGIAN . I INSTALLED AMD GRAPHIC DRIVER  AND INTEL HD 3000 GRAPHICS DRIVER again after unisntall it properly ,  again from thr AMD site and intel site respectively. but my problem is not solved. Also i update my bios to the latest version.

 plz hlp me i am in trouble from the past 15 days and send me proper link  along  with INtel graphics driver so that i can install it properly from the start.
