The brightness keeps changing by itself even though I put the enable adaptive brightness off. How do I fix this?

Trackpad not responding
Hello, so today I noticed that the trackpad of my HP Pavilion laptop had a what looked like a little bit of food on it, so I took a damp washcloth and wiped it off gently just to clean it up, but now that I have done that my trackpad doesn't respond hardly at all, I realize water and computers rarely mix, but I don't know why my trackpad isn't responding, any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I have some spare mice I can use but still not being able to use the trackpad is annoying

about once every two or three days, my monitor will go black. sometimes it will happen twice in a day, sometimes it will go a week before shutting off. the backlight remains lit, all the power settings are set to keep the screen on in all situations. it happens entirely at random, and has even happened once while writing this post.
it will return immediately if i close the lid and reopen it. ive only had this laptop for two months, so it is under warranty,

EliteBook 8470p external monitor on boot
The laptop currently has a cracked screen. I need to access it before Windows boots up. The external screen works fine after Windows loads but does not work before the OS loads. Is there a way to enable the external monitor during the booting process?

cd/dvd player stopped working after Microsoft update
After a recent Microsoft update, the cd/dvd player on my computer has stopped working. Previously, it worked just fine.
When I checked in the device status, it says "This device is working properly." However, when I put in a dvd, it spins a little and then a pop up box tells me to insert a disc into drive E. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video graphics, etc., but to no avail. In addition, I tried to update the drivers and that still did not work. (The cd/dvd drive is listed as hp DVDRW SU 208GB SATA in properties.) I have also tried to play an audio cd, but that doesn't work either.

Dead pixel problem
I am using HP 15 Notebook PC. It worked fine for many months but then I saw a dead pixel on my top-right side of display. It is increasing day by day. Please help me to remove it.

HP Paviliion cannot view photos error reads : Element not found
I've never had an issue connecting my canon camera and uploading pictures until recently. I took a bunch of new pictures and i can upload them just fine, But when it comes to viewing them or uploading them to the internet i can't do anything unless I'm in the canon application. And even then i cannot upload my photos. Even worst it's not just the recent photos, Now it's all of the photos ive ever uploaded to my computer. When i try to view them it says the element is not found. They aren't corrupt seeing as how i can see them just fine on the computer as well as in the app for the canon. What is going on, These are my memories here!!!

EliteBook 840 G3 VGA resolution 1920 x 1200
I have connected my EliteBook 840 G3 (Skylake CPU) to a HP 24-inch monitor (model L2335) via VGA. Its a direct connection, a VGA cable from the VGA connector on the EliteBook to the VGA connector on the 24-inch monitor.
The native resolution of the 24-inch monitor is 1920x1200, but the EliteBook is doing only 1920x1080. I cannot choose a higher resolution via the Intel graphics software utility or the Windows OS.
Note that if I connect my Dell 27-inch monitor to the EliteBook via a Displayport-to-DisplayPort cable, a resolution of 2560x1440 is possible. So the EliteBook, as such, is certainly capable of higher resolutions than 1920x1080.
EliteBook has BIOS 1.04 and Windows 7 64-bit Professional with lastest Intel graphics 520 drivers.
Can an EliteBook 840 G3 outpout 1920x1200 via its VGA output connector?

shut the laptop lid and still project the image on the external monitor
I'm using a laptop with an external monitor and would like to be able to shut the laptop lid and still project the image on the external monitor.
Specifically, I'd like to be able to do the following, without having to manual change the settings everytime I connect/disconnect the external monitor or open/close the laptop lid:
When the laptop is NOT connected to the external monitor:
* View the image on the laptop screen
When the laptop IS connected to the external monitor:
* View the image on the laptop screen AND external monitor, when the laptop lid is OPEN.
* After closing the laptop lid, have the image disappear from the laptop screen, but remain on the external monitor.
* After opening the laptop lid, have the image re-appear on the laptop screen (and remain on the external monitor).
Here are my system details:
* Laptop: HP elitebook
* OS: Win7
* External Monitor: HP EliteDisplay

Half screen problem in laptop HP Mini (beats audio?)
well, after my young brother accidentally drop my laptop. the screen of my laptop become half, i only see the half of the screen not a black or either white screen. the half screen iis definetly okay but my problem is, it show half screen. YouCam not detecting Webcam
No longer detecting the Webcam, I have searched through this forum, and found the earlier messages.
I too could not see the "imaging devices" in the Device Manager. Looking around, I found that one could show the "hidden devices" - and there was my Webcam... but looking at its properties, it said: "NOT CONNECTED".
How could that be, since it is built in the computer!!! I have not not dismounted the computer at all, so how could such an error happen? There is something wrong somewhere...
Work around: I wanted to use the Webcam for Skype - I worked around this problem by installing Skype on my phone (android), and there it worked without any problem at all. Yet that does not solve the computer problem.
I restarted the computer. Now I find the device (HP Webcam-50) installed. But yet the program that come with HP, viz. "CyberLink YouCam" still cannot connect with it. I get this error message:
"CyberLink YouCam cannot connect to your webcam (HP Webcam-50). Try selecting another capture device within settings, or close any application."
After closing the message, I open the tools, the "Capture" device (first box) is empty; I open the combo box (as it is a combo box), and do find the "HP Webcam-50"; I select it and it does take it - BUT when I press OK, I get this very same message, as above. So nothing has improved.
What should I do? I closed then ALL other applications (except Google, for the writing of this message), and I still get this same problem.

Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver installation error
When trying to install the "Driver-Graphics" download "Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver", version 10.18.15.4248 Rev. C, updated May 5, 2016, I get the following error message:
"Error
The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer.
Setup will exit.
Would you like more information?
Click Yes to be directed to the Intel support website."
I then went back to HP Support and installed the "Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver", version 10.1.1.9 Rev.A updated Jan 15,2016 AND the "Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver", version 11.0.0.1157 Rev.A updated Jan 15, 2016. I tried running the "Intel High-Definition (HD) Grapics Driver" but it still gave the same error message.

how do i switch on webcam
Hello Everyone, I need a serious help.
I have hp 250 g1 notebook pc with windows 7 64bit, it has a integrated camera which really worked after installing windows 7 from default DOS but it suddenly not working.
I looked at different post i tried to figure it out but still not able to skype my family which is very frustating.
I know,
1. there was a imaging device in control panel which was showing disabled/not working, then i uninstalled it and Now, it is not showing anywhere in control panel.
2. webcam was working before but not working now. I installed latest youcam software from hp driver page- but can't find the configure button.
please walk me through a little , i can do research but i am not the IT guy. Thank you

Elitebook 850 G with docking station maximum montior configuration
What is the maxium number of monitors that can run including the laptop monitor at the same time using the docking station. I was under the impression that I could have 1 vga, 2 dvi, and the laptop monitor lid. But I can't seem to make this work. I can get any 3 out 4 but not 4 monitors total. Am I capped at 3 total monitors?

Screen flickers briefly but will not stay on
When the power on button is pressed the laptop starts to power up. A message " press esc key to enter startup menu" flickers briefly on the screen but the it goes blank and stays blank. The laptop continues through its power up sequence and the screen flashes briefly from time to time showing what appears to be screens from the startup sequence but nothing stays on the screen long enough to see what is being displayed. The screen then stays blank.

Hello good people, I upgraded from Vista to Windows 8.1 and started having issues with video failure sad face VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. I was advised to upgrade the RAM but not sure how much RAM or max RAM to add. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

Can't get DVD Movies to play
My HP 4540s won't recognize nor play DVD movies...sometimes it does show the DVD on the File Explorer but when I click it it just displays two folders, one audio and one video, with a whole bunch of what appears to be the DVD files but I can't get to play none of them...

HDMI Issue : HP Pavilion Notebook - 14-ab167us (ENERGY STAR)
Hi Team,
I have bought my laptop HP- Pavilion Notebook - 14-ab167us (ENERGY STAR) beofre 4 months. I use it for my official purposes. The part of my work is connect my pc to conference room pcs to display in LCD screen.
But from last 1 month, when I am connecting via HDMI1 port, the screen flicks in an interval. Its very weird for my work. I checked with other frinds laptop and their laptop was running fine. This concludes that there is no issue with the conference room PC.
Could you please help me with the issue if any driver issue then please suggest me ?
Otherwise please guide me how I can change my pc. I am fade up now with the issue during work .
