I wish I had read the reviews before buying this laptop. I've had the laptop for 5 months and didn't drop it just went to open the screen one morning and it had cracked without impact. Called hp (my laptop is still under warranty) and they claimed it would be 471$ for repair when it is clearly badly manufactured and a defective screen. For a laptop that flips around and should be better built I am extremely disappointed. I am a university student and I will be telling everyone and posting on McGill forums how horrible this laptop is and how horrible hp customer service is. I was told many different things on the phone and never got a straight answer. For the same price by a MacBook, hp isn't worth the grief and the time.

Video Driver Causes Black Screen Unless Disabled.....Cannot Upgarde Driver!!!
Windows 10 Update resulted in black screen. In Safe Mode was able to disable Intel HD Graphics Driver and then able to boot to Windows. However must leave Intel HD Graphics Driver off so unable to extend display to other monitor or to overhead project. Current Intel Driver is 2006 version and unable to upgrade to current driver using sp74635 or sp72165. Please advise what driver can be installed to fix this issue.

hp envy touchsmart 15 broken hinge/broken fan
The left hinge and the plastic began to separate from eachother, and now its so bad that the fan has apparantly stopped working. Will HP fix this problem? If not, I will definitely be looking at a mac or something that wont break just from average use of a laptop.

HP Elitebook 840 G1 - displays black screen on boot/return from hibernate unless in docking station
I have an Elitebook 840 G1 running Windows 7. I have updated the BIOS to L71 Ver 01.33, 9/1/2015 and it did not help.
I normally run in a docking station with an external monitor - just cloned of the laptop display. I can open the laptop screen and see it, I can undock it at this time and it runs fine. However, if I undock it and either reboot or hibernate -- it will not boot or resume...just a black screen.
As soon as I put it in the docking station, I see the HP BIOS banner and it takes off.
So, it makes it more of a desktop than being able to use it as a laptop. Any ideas?

Screen brightness buttons stopped working
I was able to adjust the brightness of my screen using the f2+f3 button but suddenly they stopped working and am not able to adjust the brightness of screen from any place neither control panel nor any other option tried some methods but they all failed

HP 15-ac125TU touch pad issues
I have bought HP 15-ac125TU only a month ago and i'm currently having certain problems with the touchpad and blutooth like:-
1) The zoom in/zoom out feature of the touchpad isn't working at all, though it worked initially.
2)If a section of text is selected its selection is fluctuating randomly.
3) another thing, like If i need to change the size of the text after selecting am trying to go to the size and drop down box appears and just the time im going to select my choice of the size the size box dissapears.
The same thing happens when im trying to refresh a page by right clicking and a box appears , but the box vanishes before letting me select any option !
4) its also giving this message when I'm trying to select and copy a text---

Stylus no longer recognized HP 2740p

This happened out of nowhere. Touch screen is still working just fine. I can turn that on and it works. But the pen is no longer recognized by the computer at all. No pen? No one-note. No point in computer.
Driver is a 2006 driver, same one that was working just fine yesterday.
Any ideas?
There have been no changes to this computer since 4/27 as far as automated win10 updates are concernced, and I have not done any updating manually. It ...just.. quit.

Web Cam not found
My web cam quit working. I have reinstalled the software with no help. I checked the device manager and did not find any reference I had a web cam. I have been reading all the web cam problems others have been having and believe I need to replace the Webcam/microphone module. I do not think it is a loose connection. Could be wrong about that one. I found on ebay a replacement if i need it under 8 dollars and free shipping. Product number 680577-001. I have never replaced one of these before. Can someone give me instructions and/or a you tube in replacing. I might be jumping the gun here. Should I check into other things before trying this.

Blank Screen of Death, Please Help.
I have had this computer for about four years. It never gave me any trouble. Last year it completely shut down and it wouldn't turn on. I have scoured every forum, every quick fix, yet nothing. I constantly run across one problem in every one, none of them quite match my problem.
Blank Screen, Check.
Flashing Orange Wifi Button, Check.
Flashing Caps Lock, Incomplete.
I see time and time again that there has to be a flashing caps button, but it never flashes for me, only the wifi button. There is also flashing white power symbol on the side of my computer, but thats it. The Battery is fine, I don't need to hard reset it, trust me, I've done it about 30 times, I don't need to mash the F2 or F11 buttons, It won't connect to an outside monitor, Nothing. Please. I really need to fix this. I have gone through around $1,000 dollars on replacement computers and this is the only one I truly relay on. If you can think of a good way for me to fix this that hasn't already been mentioned, that would be apperciated.
Also, side note, Do NOT refer me to support because I have spent over 15 hours trying to contact support and they never help me with anything I need. HP has horribile customer service, but that's okay.

GPU Throttling at 67 Celsius
Tried everything. Thortling Temprature Adjustments Locked. Even BIOS Advanced Settings are locked.
67 Celsius Throttling for a laptop GPU is rediculous. I can't play any games without the the framerates plummeting down to 18 from 60 every few seconds.

Trackpad malfunction
I have been having a persistent problem with my trackpad that updates and adjustments cannot seem to fix. Often when I'm using the track pad it constantly zooms in on whatever screen is on dispay when I don't want it to zoom, making it very difficult to use the trackpad normally.

Linux drivers for Elite USB-C dock
I am using the Elite USB-C dock with a laptop running Ubuntu 16.04. I have managed to get the laptop to detect the dock, and the USB ports are working on it. However, the HDMI and DisplayPort connectors do not work. Are ther DisplayLink drivers for Linux available for this product?

Black Bar screen at the right side of HP Laptop

Actually, I opened the laptop to clean the fan for avoiding the heat. After Assembling my laptop, I got the black bar on screen display. then i checked the sreen resolution which is the highest postion. There have no installed software. So, please help me.

I am trying to update the graphics drivers for my laptop using the intel driver update utility to fix a problem with a game that I am playing (Overwatch). However when I try to use the facility it says that I have to use drivers that are from HP. How do I obtain these HP drivers or how can I use the drivers directly from Intel?

How to adjust the clickpad pointer speed?
Is it possible to adjust the clickpad pointer speed of the pavilion notebook 15-ab241nd. With the default settings I need to cover a large distance with my finger (about 1.5 times the width of the clickpad) to get my pointer from one side of the screen to the other.

touchpad scrolling problem
Hi all, i recently purchased a re-furbished 1040 G2 running W7 64 bit and am having a peculiar problem with the touchpad. Sometimes when I am 2 finger scrolling an icon is left behind on the screen and if I mouse over it I get the spinning blue symbol showing activity. The icon is the same as you would normally see while scrolling. I did try uninstalling and re-installing the driver, the driver is Synaptics version 190.0.17.1.
