HP Spectre x360 Display Driver Crashing

Hi,

I bought a new HP Spectre x360 from John Lewis this week and I've had an issue where some text in google chrome, applications, and particularly in dialogue boxes, appears to be blurry. Every half an hour or so, Windows 10 will tell me that the Intel HD Display driver has crashed and has recovered.

I checked the display settings and text size is set to 150% by default, the resolution is set at the recommended 1920 x 1080. I tried to install the newest Intel Graphics Driver, but when I did and extracted the files, a dialogue box tells me that the computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. I've also tried running the HP Support Assistant app that came pre-installed but it couldn't detect any new graphics drivers.

How can I fix this?

Maximum resolution supported by HDMI output from HP Envy 17

Hi,

I see from the rechnical specifications document that the HDMI version of the HP Envy 17-n107na laptop is 1.4.

My question is that can I use this HDMI port to connect my laptop to a monitor with a resoultion of up to 2560x1440?

Or the maximum resolution supported by this HDMI port is only 1080p?

Thanks

HP Pavilion AK113NA Keyboard "sticking" issues in game

$

Hi, wondering if somebody can help me. I recently bought an HP Gaming Pavilion AK113NA. The keyboard sticks in games such as GTA V and Counterstrike Global Offensive - e.g. I press the D key to move right, but I stay stationary, and upon releasing the D key I start moving left without clicking anything. Conversely, I the A key could stop responding, I let go and I start moving right.

So far, HP support have tried

1) Updating graphics drivers

2) Updating keyboard driver

3) Toggling sticky and filter keys

4) Changing game controls

5) Creating a new test account

6) Msconfig different startup

7) Updating BIOS

8) Connecting to the game in Offline mode

9) Optimizing Windows by deleting temp files and setting virtual memory manually

10) Full system reset

Anyone had these issues before? The keyboard has no problems in any application except games. I'm pretty sure it isn't a game's fault because the issue occurs in multiple games. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a USB keyboard.

My touch screen stopped working about 2 days ago. The computer is updated, I ran the HP support and nothing happened. I ran also 2 tests, those that you can enter using F2. Everything seemed to be fine but it simply doesn't work, no matter if it is in PC or tablet mode. The result is the same.

Intel HD graphics wrong drivers on HP support

I have HP Pavilion 15-p153nm and i have a problem with Intel HD graphics driver.

Default "generic" driver that comes with Windows 10 has low graphics performance and backlight can not be controlled. Windows update installs new driver but it has black screen problem on startup if brightness is 100%. Also, it has BSOD if i put laptop to sleep. I went to HP support webpage and downloaded 2 available different driver versions for Intel HD graphics. None of them can be installed, it says that this computer does not meet minimum requirements for installing this software. I tried installing Windows 8.1 but same thing happens. There is wrong driver on HP support webpage. I extracted setup file and opened inf file, there is no reference to my laptop intel graphics hardware id. This is what my HP 15-p153nm reports in device manager for Intel graphics:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F31&SUBSYS_233A103C

And this is list of compatible hardware id's with Intel graphics driver from HP support page for this laptop:

Same thing with windows 8.1 driver, there is no hardware id in inf file that is compatible with my laptop.

What is going on here?

One way to fix black screen with drivers from windows update is to disable fastboot but i do not want to do that. FastBoot is the main reason for me to upgrade from windows 7 to 8/10.

Where are working HP drivers for this laptop?

Thanks

I have a signature edition HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab29 which is 5 months old and since the beginning the display IGFX driver has been crashing. The issue happens on different  websites and occasionally when some software is running.

I have updated all the drivers to the newest ones, updated Windows 10 and it's still crashing. When will HP find a solution to this problem and updated the display driver?

thanks,

Dan

HP G62 screen issues (yellow stain / flickering)

$

Hello!

I came up with an idea to bring my old laptop back to life, and after 1 week of fighting with it every single day im totally exhausted right now...

HP G62 was overheating and it had yellow stain on the screen and the screen was flickering (link to the video: https://youtu.be/0Xgd6eTs374)

What excatly was/is happening:

1. Screen flickering in BIOS (only on overheat info screen - it was overheating before fan cleaning and thermal paste replacing)
2. Screen not flickering while choosing boot mode
3. Yellow stain at login screen
4. No stains - clear screen after logging in
5. Vertical line appear while cursor is at the edge of the screen
6. Screen flickers while cursor is pointed at some icons near the edge of the screen (info box appears)

Few days ago the screen was constantly flickering while windows were maximized and while menu bar was at the bottom (it somehow doesn't happen anymore).

Changing LCD cable didn't solve the problem. After cleaning fans and replacing thermal paste the LCD worked completely fine (no stain/flickering) for about 5 mintes - after one reboot yellow stain showed up again (and flickering as described above).

What more - while connecting/disconnecting power button cable the LCD turns on/off - if it turns of and doesnt turn on, the power button doesn't work also - the only way to turn the laptop off is to pull out the battery and the AC cable - after that power button doesnt work until plugging/unplugging power button cable several times.

What can be the issue? Screen isn't brokken - it fiixed by itself for some time. LCD cable also doesn't seem to be damaged.

Everything works completely fine on the external monitor/tv.

GPU / motherboard issues should have been seen on external monitor/tv also.

Any ideas? Thanks!

DV6-3217CL Blu Ray Playback Choopy Now

$

So I'll add to the woes for Blu Ray playback. This laptop use to play Blu Rays without any issue. After a motherboard failure and replacement, the video playback is now choppy at best. It does play DVD's without issue but Blu Ray performance is terrible. I've run all the maintenance updates, windows updates, driver checks and anything I can find to fix with still very poor performance. I even upgraded to Windows 10 but that did nothing to resolve so I did a full reinstallation of Windows 7 which it came with, then all the updates.

What changed that causes this? I've even tried an external Blu Ray player which I know works but again, choppy playback on this machine. It contains the max 8Gb of ram which says less than 4GB useable which is strange considering its Win7/64 although the BIOS apparently has locked up the other 4GB of ram. It didn't use to do that so. BIOS revision is F.29

I used this machine for traveling when the MB died (video chip overheated and failed).  After I repaired it with the replacement MB, as stated, choppy playback of Blu Rays only. Thoughts or ideas?
