Windows 10 does not recognize 22CWA

I just purchased a 22cwa monitor to use with my HP laptop. When I connect via HDMI, Windows 10 does not recognize the monitor to allow me to Extend the display. I can only duplicate the laptop display.

 

Is there a new driver for Windows 10?

I tried to turn on my laptop and I could see the power light turned on, as did the internet connection light on the keyboard, but the screen never came on.(And I know it was not the "black screen of death" because I could not even see my cursor.) I turned it off and on again, just to have the same thing happen. I looked even harder and could barely see the white parts of my screen (such as the Netflix app). The brightness was so low I could not see anything, but barely the white part. The brightness is lower than it normally would be on its lowest setting and I have tried turning the brightness up but could not get it to turn up. I have tried taking the battery out and holding the power button down to get it to restart, I also connected my laptop to another screen and it showed up fine there, but nothing I try seems to make my screen work again.

Resolution on external monitor changes when using laptop with lid closed

The two screenshots below illustrate the problem. Resolution in both cases reported as being 1920 x 1080, but there's a clear difference.  Monitor is Asus 24 inch, using HDMI connection.

Grateful for any assistance. Thanks.

 

(On edit: The screenshots don't show the difference as clearly as I'd hoped, but maybe someone has had this happen and has a solution.)

Font size changes and screen alternates between getting larger and smaller on its own

My HP2000 notebook is driving me nuts.  The screen will alternately grow larger and then smaller and the font increase and decrease all on its own and then I'm having to reset it to the proper setting when it stops.  This is very annoying and I've searched online for a solution and can't find any help.   I have tried using IE, Windows 10, Chrome and Mozilla and everyone has the same problem. I would love to have it fixed but as of now I will not purchase another HP notebook again. 

Touchpad has gotten erratic and full of problems.

I switched over to Windows 10 and ever since my touchpad has been a mess. I've tried changing settings. The latest Synaptic driver shows a 19. series but I've seen recomendations to go to back to 17..

Come on Synaptics or whomever is to blame.  You've had plenty of time. Get it fixed. Please.

 

My scrolling just on a whim goes crazy from time to time. It stops taking directions from my fingers and coasts up and down when it wishes.

 

Could this be a hardware problem? Is the touchpad replaceable on this model?

I am getting warnings that my nvidia ge force 7150m/n force 630m has stopped, It then restartsok. I am affraid it will go out & am wondering if i can replace the graffics cacrd.


Screen freezes + pink stripes

I purchased an HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13 about 1 year ago.

A couple of weeks ago the Notebook started to freeze for a few seconds and pink vertical stripes would appear. It froze for about 3-5 seconds and then everything was back to normal again. But now it happens quite frequently and the screen also stays frozen for around 15-20 seconds.

 

Usually I have no problem when I am just using word or excel, but when I am surfing the web or watching videos etc it happens regularly.

What can I do?

Graphics Driver Issues

I recently updated my graphics drivers through the AMD website, which I didnt realise at the time, did not fully support the laptop itself. After doing that I had a problem with playback of videos where in some circumstances the video would be black but the audio would still play. I tried uninstalling the graphics driver which seemed to fix the video problem but then none of my games would launch at all. Is there a way I can revert the graphics drivers to the base version where I didnt have either of these issues?

I recently cracked my screen on the way to class.  Everything works fine, except that I cant use the touch screen now.  The LCD part isn't broken, just the glass covering it.  Theres four little hairline cracks down the middle extending from the microphone hole.  How much would it be to replace?  And how should I go about doing it?  Thank you!

Can't get full screen with HDMI to tv; it's not the TV! Have tried everything suggested elsewhere in this forum with no success eg. display menu and change resolution, also set to overscan - everything! No joy!

Screen turns black while everything still runs in background

My laptop from time to time will just shut down the screen to a black screen, I can still hear things running in the background, example a game will be playing but nothing on screen. I have to push the button to shut the whole computer down and restart, could it be the screen going, or is there a fix for this, Thank you so much,


yellow light on my touchpad, pointer is working

Hi,

since I updated my HP Laptop to Windows 10 last week, the little light on my touchpad is shining yellow. I has never been on bevore and I dont know what this means, has it anything to do with the update?

I read in other articles that the lamp is ligtning if the touchpad is turned off, but my touchpad and my pointer are working completely fine...

Active Pen Battery Dead in One Month

I bought an HP Active pen and really only played around with it a little. It sat unused in the laptop case and in less than a month, the battery was completely dead. Very annoying since they're impossible to find. I eventually made my way to a Microsoft store to buy replacements. Do I need to store the pen with the battery removed? I don't see myself using the pen much because it requires too much pressure for anything to happen. Not a natural way of writing.

new spectre x360 display malfunction

Hi,

 

We bought a bunch of Spectre x360's in Australia several months ago for our consultants, who frequently travel overseas. One of our consultants - currently overseas - reported a screen malfunction where the top quarter of the screen appeared as vertical bars, rendering that screen area useless.

 

On contacting your technical support, I was told HP was unable to assist, because 1) the laptop was not in my possession and 2) the laptop was not in Australia. This is a pratically brand new, top-of-the-line, HP computer, that we have to courier internationally (rendering our consultant computerless), just to receive any form of support or acknowledgement of the issue. How are we supposed to do business this way?
