LAN drivers for the HP EliteDisplay S231d notebook docking monitor?

$

Dear HP Community,

I'm in the process of purchasing a HP EliteDisplay S231d  for my Elitebook 820 G3 and noticed there were no dedicated LAN drivers for the monitor.

When I go into the product page, there's only a single USB driver there that states the following:

"HP EliteDisplay S231d USB Graphics Software
By downloading, you agree to the terms and conditions of the HP Software License Agreement.
Note: Some software requires a valid warranty, current HP support contract, or a license fee.

Type: Driver - Display / Monitor
Version: 7.9.680.0 Rev.A(5 Nov 2015)
Operating System(s):
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) | View all
File name: sp73519.exe (22 MB)

This package contains the DisplayLink integrated driver/application software for the HP EliteDisplay S231d IPS LCD Notebook Docking Monitor. The DisplayLink USB graphics solution that is integrated into the HP EliteDisplay S231d Monitor is a high performance USB graphics adapter that is an ideal solution for extending a PC workspace to an additional monitor without the need for an additional internal graphics card."

Unless I have missed something, or if the description has not made it clear enough, do these drives include supporting the functionality for the LAN port at the back of this monitor? Can anyone confirm please?

I appreciate any help on this.

Thanks.

Broken display and factory reset..

The computer was dropped and destroyed the display, you see nothing but spidery white.  I took it over, since the person who dropped it was going to chuck it.  Was barely used, why not?  I hooked it up to my monitor and it worked fine.  I then made the mistake of going through with the factory reset, to make it mine.  Now I can't get it to come up on any monitor.  I assume this has to do with it all not being re-set up yet, but I can't set it up if I can't see it.  Can anyone help me with this?

Can't update custom driver

I was playing a game (Runescape), and they recently updated it with a new client which increases performance. This new client gives a message if your computer's graphic drivers are 90 days or older...apparently, mine are over 900 days old. I don't really have an issue with running it otherwise, but I heard that updating drivers will help my laptop's performance, so I found and used the HP driver update utility. I got the following message:

"Error: A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel® Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel® driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver can cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer."

I just want help finding an update for the driver I have, and/or help finding a newer driver that should work with the laptop...one that preferably isn't several years old.

operating system does show max supported display resolution

$

Hi,

My product specs list shows that my notebook sports a 1080 resolution display:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-ab200-Notebook-PC-series/8499306/model/8818875/document/c04799692/

but my operating system only shows 1366x768 as max supported one.

I have updated my graphics drivers to latest version via windows update but i still get the lower resultion. i even tried installing latest and up-to-date drivers from vendors(intel) website but did not see any change.

so what i understand now is that either my correct product specs are not listed on the above link or i have an old bios.

i checked and noticed that my bios is indeed old but i cant update it to latest version because the bios update application reports an error due to running in non-uefi mode.

i dont wanna update my bios because that will require me to re-install the OS in uefi mode. whats worse is that even after reinstalling OS in uefi mode and updating the bios, the resolution still remains stuck at 1366x768.

please share your experiences with such issues.

A friend dropped their laptop and completely broke the display, however it works when when hooked up to a different monitor or tv.

I then made the mistake of going through with the factory reset, to make it mine.

I went throught he steps but when it went to restart, it won't come up on any external monitor.

I can no longer go through the set up process since I cannot see anything.

Am I screwed? Can anyone help?

So one day, all of the sudden my laptop's touchpad started acting its own life, it didn't respond my touches as it should've, and this continued few times I used my laptop. Today when I opened the laptop again, the touchpad wasn't working at all.

Driver issues? (This has nothing to do with win10, as I downloaded it like half a year ago and this problem started just today)

touchpad problem with Folio1040 G2

Hi,

Recently got a HP Folio 1040 G2 as my work PC. It is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. It has the Forcepad/Touchpad. While typing, it appears to recognize a mouseclick on the Forcepad, which causes the cursor to move to wherever the cursor is; typically several sentences back from where I was typing. I switched to a mouse and used function+f2 to disable the touchpad, but it still has the forcepad active (can't move the cursor with my finger on the touchpad, but pressure on the pad acts as a click) and therefore the jumping cursor problem still exists. It there any fix to this or at least away to disable the Forcepad completely?

hp pavilion x360 - convertible laptop - GOES INTO SLEEP MODE WITHIN 3 MINUTES

$

Hello All,

Frustrated new owner of HP Pavilion x360 - convertible  here.

Bought this computer about 2 weeks ago.  Here are the issues I've been having.

1.  Computer goes into sleep mode no matter what minutes setting I've set to (both on battery and plugged in)

I've even set everything to never; laptop would still go into sleep mode after 3 to 5 minutes of no-use.

2.  Spent 2 to 3 hours with HP rep, whom of which remotely accessed my laptop, downloaded a bios update, installed bios update.  After the bios update, we tested the problem byleaving computer untouched for about 5 minutes or so; issue seems to be solved.

3.  After step 2, HDMI external monitor not sending signal to monitor.  My ext. monitor can't detect a signal.  (I actually had problems when I first tried to use an external monitor, had to do several restarts and shutdowns to finally have monitor detect and signal from the laptop.)   I know it's not the hdmi cable or monitor, as I've tried inter-switching monitors and cables with my amazon fire TV.   And all monitors and cables were okay.

4.  Nevertheless, after step 3, I fiddled around and restarted and shutdown the laptop some more times, and somehow the monitor finally detected a signal, and screen works again.

5.  BUT HERE WE GO AGAIN...... LAPTOP GOES INTO THE DREADFUL SLEEPMODE after 3 to 5 minutes of idling.  This is really frustrating when you're working a a paper and doze off a lil bit to grab a drink, watch tv, etc; having to come back, wait for log in screen and enter password again is quite tedious.

Can an HP really get to the bottom of this, as I've seen many others in this forum with issues of Sleep as well.

Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated with this as I've spent $600 to $700 on a new machine, but I'm having to go through hours of troubleshooting for this.....
