I have a HP Envy touchsmart that I'm trying to connect a second monitor to. The first additional monitor uses the HDMI port and it is fine. I'm trying to connect a second big monitor using the USB-to-VGA converter (So I could reuse my old monitor). I bought the eBerry USB-to-VGA adaptor (USB 3.0 backward compatible with USB 2.0)
When I connect the adpator the System Information displays "Device can perform better if connected to USB 3.0). All the 4 USB ports on my laptop are USB3.0. But somehow it doesnt seem to get the USB 3.0 speeds and the adaptor fixes the screen resolution at 800x600 (as mentioned on their website for USB 2.0 speeds).
I've tried updating the BIOS (Insyde F.18 now) and also followed other tricks on the forum that asked to remvoe all the USB root hubs and restart the computer etc. But nothign has worked and the adaptor seems to be getting only USB 2.0 speeds.
I've checked the cable of the adaptor and it has the SuperSpeed logo and the 5 additional pins in the plug. The USB ports on my laptop also have the SuperSpeed logo (SS).
I've read that I can enable the USB3.0 inthe BIOS but I do not see the option in the BIOS.
At this time I've tried everything I found on the various forums and hence thought would createa new thread. Please help.
thanks,
Ravi
