Hi I am having trouble with a few games on my laptop.
When I try loading Sonic all stars, the program starts to run then as soon as it goes to the opening video it shuts the computer down.
This also happens when I press "BIG PICTURE" in STEAM.
The directX seems to be the latest version.
Do I need to download a newer video driver?
How and where do I find the right driver and how do I install it?

It seems that the latest drivers that HP provided for my Laptop Model were out of date.
Does HP still provide support for my Laptop Model?

I have an HP Envy dv6 with Virtual DJ Full Pro 7 software. I can't get the karaoke song lyrics to display on the external monitor. Instructions say that the video card must be in "Dual Mode". How do I get the video card into "Dual Mode"?
I have Windows 8 on my HP laptop. Just purchased the above PC game. Installed the disk with no problems but when I clck on the desktop icon it just makes a 'dong' sound and nothing happes - the game does not load. Is this game compatible with Windows 8 or must I download drivers?? Thanks..
I recently upgraded to windows 8.1.Before upgrading I ran Windows Upgrade Assistant on my system and it showed all my drivers support 8.1
But after upgrading,its not running properly.

I´m a little bit desesperated, my problem is that my Hp Pavilion dv5-1247la Entretaiment PC started to detect my display like a no PnP generic monitor, and the screen has a black bar in the right side, I guess is because the display is been forced to work in a wrong resolution. I can only choose two resolutions, 1024x768 and 800x600. My native resolution is 1280x800. I´ve tried everything, update the graphics drivers, the display drivers, update the bios, and nothing works.
I don´t know why mi pc is doing me this, I´m using windows 7 Professional 64 bit fully activated. I know my display doesn´t have a hardware problem because when I install de graphics card driver, for one little moment the black bar dissapears.
I´ve uninstalled and installed again the operative system and nothing seems to work.
So I was asking me if there is an specific driver to
"15.4” Diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP Brightview Infinity Display (1280 x 800)"
or something like that.

Note: The bios has the same problem, the black bar appears when I turn on the computer.
How can update Flashplayer in Quickweb? I am using a Pavilion G6 and have downloaded the latest quickweb software but it still refuses tl play videos from BBc Iplayer or YouTube, I get a message recommending upgrading. Please help.

Then when I decided to update my drivers, the screen flickered (as usual) but it froze right after. The only option I had was to hold down the power button in order to (force) shut down the unit.
And now whenever I would re-install drivers, the screen would no longer flicker; there's no longer any option to configure anything with CCC, and when I right click on the desktop it usually would be an option to switch graphics card, but is not found.
An error/warning message after installing drivers would appear:
"Driver Install: the driver package does not specify a hardware identifier"
I tried re-installing my operating system. (Win8.1 and even going back to Win8 just to see if anything worked.) Still no luck...
I also tried re-flashing my BIOS.
In device manager it shows
AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)

Hi! I recently bought a DV9000 from my local electronics recycler, and it, of course, has the notorious GPU issue. I have ordered a refurbished motherboard, but was wondering what the consensus is about whether a thermal pad or copper shim is the way to go to dissapate the GPU heat on the new board. I'm sure HP doesn't have an official stance on this, but I would like to hear from anyone what their choice is, and why. Thanks!
since installing windows 8.1 on my compaq presario cq58 - Product number: D9V55EA#ABU, the screen flickers badly when i am trying to play games. have checked drivers and it is up to date. please help.
Team : Need your help. Got the below laptop for my mother. They installed a Windows 7 Ultimate (32 Bit) and got most of the drivers working.
But when they try to open some of the graphics intensed i.e solitaire they are getting the error "Hardware acceleration......." and they its not performing.
HP 2000-2d01TU Laptop (2nd Gen CDC/ 2GB/ 500GB/)
Above is the model number. Can somebody point me to the right driver.

I have been scouring the internet for hours trying to find a solution for this problem but have been unsuccessful every time. Whenever I try to install the nvidia driver it always comes up as "Cannot locate compatible hardware, install will now close".
I have tried downloading from nvidia site directly. I have uninstalled the the previous driver and installed the new one but nothing is working. Please help.
I recently updated OS from windows 7 to windows 8.1 (which means i can't revert back)
My notebook:
-pavilion g4 g4-1003TX, intel core i5-2410M, CPU 2.30GHz
-OS: windows 8.1 32bit
-graphic card: amd radion hd 7400m series and intel hd 3000
One problem after updating: Screen goes black after booting
After reading online, they said the problem can be solved if i update the driver, which i did in safe mode, but after updating both driver to the latest: amd radeon hd 7400m (13.152.1.1000) and intel hd 3000 (15.28.20.3347)
New problem: Can only use one graphic driver
After the reboot, the note book restart everytime after windows logo. So i got in safe mode and disable intel hd 3000 and can see the screen properly again in normal mode, but without intel hd 3000 i cant use my 2nd monitor. When i enable it again in normal mode, the whole screen goes black.
I really need my 2nd monitor to work graphic stuff, if you guys have the solution, i will be very grateful, thanks in advance.

I have a DV6 HP laptop, with an AMD Phenom II P960 quad-core processor (1.80 GHz), and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 internal graphics card. The tv is a 26'' LG HD tv.
I have tried simply changing display settings through the Fn+screen button, but it still shows 'No Display'.
I have updated the graphics card countless times, and reset it to factory settings, still 'No Display'.
I have reinstalled the whole windows system, and graphics driver, but still 'No Display'.
Before all this I also just tried simply doing a system restore, but this still didn't work.
I have tried the same cable on the same tv with a different laptop, and it works perfectly straight away.
I have tried this laptop, on a different cable, on a different tv, and still 'No Signal'.
However there has been one time, where the laptop did a 'memory dump' (blue screen), and it showed on the LG tv, but in a red colour. Other than that, it refuses to work.
It has always worked before, but suddenly its just stopped working.
It also works on the VGA cable, and in general when the HDMI is plugged in, it acknowledges it completely. Its just not showing on the tv.
If anyone knows of a solution can you please comment, as I would really like to know what the problem is so I can hopefully resolve it.

I have a Compaq cq56-219wm (CNF1111SRP) the system file shows that it is only seeing 64MB of graphics memory. The specifications for this system state that it can have up to 797MB.
The graphics card is an Intel 4500 (Updated to Intel 4 chipset)
How do I go about getting it to recognise more graphics memory.
I upgraded the CPU to an Intel Duo Core T7700 and added an additional 2GB of RAM

my Envy 14 laptop hesitates before it responds to a click of touchpad or mouse. Example in the game Solitare that came with the windows 7 it hesitates from 5 to 10 seconds before responding to a play. Icybergenie has worked off and on for a week trying to fix problem. It started because Norton said there was an error.
