My chromebook has worked fine with no problems at all.
Opened it today and the screen is white with static - can't reset or restore. I've charged it up and turned it on and off and still the screen isn't working.
is it a hardware problem? Any ideas?

Touch-Pad Issues
I have just bought a new HP Flyer and seem to be experiencing som trouble. The touch-pad seems to be VERY sensitive and yet does not seem to track my finger movements very well or properly. For example when I try to scroll down the page it does not want to move and when it does it only moves a little bit and in little chunks. It is very hard to move and very frustrating. It may be with the design of your touch-pad, with having all these little bumps I will have to press down very hard to make it detect my fingers and I feel like that might damage the computer over time... any tips?

black screen
The screen is not working. It appears to be off in dim or normal lighting, and can see a faint image when in very bright light. The screen started acting up within months of purchase from Best Buy. At first it would work most of the time, and just go black when opened all the way. Best Buy was of no help. Told us it was not fixable under any warranty and was from "abuse of the machine" I know this is not the case as we have babied it.
The screen gradually got worse over the last couple years, but as long as we didn't open the lid too far it would be ok. However 3 days ago the screen quit lighting up at all, regardless of position. Since the machine is no longer under warranty, I decided to open it up and check to see if the cord to the display was seated firmly. All connections were firm, and there was no obvious (visible) damage to any internal components. I put the machine back together and it worked in one position for a few hours, before cutting off again. The bios were updated as well as the graphics drivers, however the screen still did not work.
I *think* it may be the LCD/LED backlight that is causing the problem since I can see the display in a brightly lit room/area or if i shine a flashlight on it.
Does this sound like the backlight is the problem? If not, what do you postulate is the issue?
Where can i find the replacement part?
Do I need to replace the entire screen assembly?
What would be the aproximate price for the parts?
Does it include a replacement sticker for the "speakers" on the bottom of the screen?
Is there an authorized HP repair location in the Savannah, GA area?

15-j063cl no white screen no external hdmi display
I have a hp envy 15-j063cl unit that now turns on with no blinking caps, white display. The hard drive is failing so I want to replace hard drive. I made a recovery disk set and a usb recovery key. hard drive despite failing still was booting and entering windows. Unit was booting into windows, and I could see OS apps etc on external screen (internal laptop screen was lit but no display), but then (silly me decided to do a recovery on the new hard drive I purchased) I sent computer to boot into the usb recovery key I made from within windows. I went to settings -> power -> and set computer to boot from usb device. And now when I turn on computer I see the hard disk light blinking and hdd activity but no display (internal or external just the white screen on the internal) The unit is probably going into recovery mode. I want to be able to tell computer to boot back into the hard drive and exit the recovery mode. If I click enter key a few times hard drive lights blinks with activity and eventually I reach probably a shutdown command because it shuts down. Can anyone tell me how to navigate blindly into windows?

Synaptics trackpad pinch zoom resetting each time I restart

I know how to get into the correct menu and turn pinch zoom off but every time I restart my laptop I have to go back and turn it off again, this is very frustrating. Is there a way I can permanently turn this option off?

Repair DV7-1279WM Cracked Screen with Cannibalized DV9925NR Parts
I own an Intel HP DV7 (model dv7-1279wm P/N NB253UA#ABA) notebook that I have never had any problems with until one day approximately 2 years ago when it fell (only one foot to the ground) after being bumped while open and turned on – this incident resulted in a large, yet not very noticeable crack across the display panel. Despite the cracked screen, the notebook was usable for another year or so until one day when I turned it on, about 70% of the screen looked like black ink had oozed out in between the layers of the display panel and the other 30% looked like multi-colored ink had oozed out to fill in the gaps.
I have 2 identical AMD HP DV9700 (model dv9925nr P/N FE695UA#ABA) notebooks that stopped working about 2-1/2 years after I purchased them (I think this model had a problem with overheating). I would like to use parts from one of the DV9700's to repair the display on the DV7 (which is a year newer). Since HP's product specifications show that both models have a 17” "WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1440 x 900) Display", could I use the dv9925nr's display panel to replace the cracked screen on the dv7-1279wm?
I know these are all older units, but I can’t afford a new one and my daughter needs a notebook for school. Thank you for your help.

touchpad stops working
occasionally my touchpad just stops working. i will hear a tone, the normally white light surrounding the touchpad turns red, and a symbol of a hand with a red circle with a slash appears on the screen and fades away. at that point i have no control of the touch pad. can you help me prevent this from happening?

No auto-rotate on HP Elite x2 1012 G1
Hi,
I use a HP Elite x2 1012 G1 tablet running Windows 10 (64bits). When using it in tablet mode, I cannot get an automatic rotation of the screen when rotating it from landscape to portrait and vice versa.
I suspect that the driver for the Orientation sensor is not installed. I tried installing the MS generic "Simple device orientation sensor" but no change.
Any idea how to solve this?

Touch screen not working in browser
My touch screen has stopped working specifically in Chrome. It appears to be working everywhere else, including IE. Is this likely a setting in Chrome or something on the computer's settings I've somehow managed to accidentally change? Thanks!

my laptop wont play any videos
This website says instructions for uninstalling flashpayer are not applicable for Windows 10. Anything that will help that I can use on windows 10, had it fixed on Thursday but video streaming on Netflix or youtube stopped working again today. Have checked for updates but there is nothing and it was updated 2 days ago.

Screen turning off while gaming
Hi
I bought this laptop hoping to play high graphics games. it has all the top specs: 8gb ram, 2gb Nvidea 940m, i7 3rd gen.
While playing games like NFS Rivals, it just turns off. When I press the power button, the hp logo comes up.When it shows the log in screen, the game music plays in the background. When i enter, the game still runs. This happens like every time when I play for around 30-40 min. I cannot feel to much heat too. Please assist me with this.

Screen keeps crashing quoting a prob with Win 8 driver when I am using Win 10
I bought a Pavilion Notebook-15-ab291sa last month and almost instantly my screen began to crash and in order to get it back I have to click onto the firefox symbol in the task bar which then restores it back to the screen(s) to before the screen crashed. The notification that I get popping up in the righthand corners says that the crash is due to a Win 8 driver so I did a complete reinstall but sadly the same problem is still occuring. Any help would be apreciated thanks.

My Hp Envy screen will not dim when i press the f2 and f3 buttons. They also won't dim when I use the dim option in the power and sleep settings. Lastly, my keyboard doesn't light up when i press the f5 button. Please advise. Thanks!

Colours on monitor have a blue hue
Hello,
I have been experiencing major colour issues on my pavillion notebook 15 p199na. The colours that are viewed on the monitor differ from any other monitor as they have a gentle blue hue and are darker while on any other screen they appear more yellow. This issue has bugged me for a while but now I am using programs which require the correct colour display on all devices. I have tried colour calibration and adjusting the colours through the Intel graphic settings however this makes the colours look even worse.
