My computer recently started going nearly black when plugged in to be charged. If I unplug then the brightness comes back and it is fine. But if is plugged in to be charged it stays nearly black until it is fully charged. I also perfromed a battery check but everytime I have tried it, it comes back unknown and wants me to turn off, take out battery, replace and turn on and try again but it still says unknown. Do I need a new adapter?

Lock screen, account picture won't change
When ever I try to change my lock screen background, it looks like it changes but all it does is sit there and load. It never actually changes. I go PC Settings>Personalization>Lock Screen, but for some reason the picture will never change. I notice the same problem when I try to change my account profile picture. My computer is up to date.
Also, I'm not sure if it's important, but I swited from 8.1 to Windows 10 for about a month. It messed with my drivers pretty bad so I recently switched back to 8.1. That is when I noticed the problem for the first time.
Anybody else having this problem?
Any fix ideas?

Hello,
I recenetly updated my windrows from 7Ultimate to 10. since the first time I fired my laptop, I noticed the graphics are not what they should be, the screen resuloiton and objects sizes are not net. later, I start notcing strange colors appear from time to time. I need to fix this issue ASAP. I am a college student and I can't live a day without my laptop. I installed HP suppport assitant to figue out the issue but it says there is no updates needed. ???

Mouse pad freezing
Hi, just last week i updated from windows 8 to windows 10, and since then my mouse pad keeps freezing. It takes a good 10 seconds and a few good taps to get it moving again...I have no idea how to fix this. It is such a minor thing, but it is extremely annoying. Any idea how to fix it?

Probook 6560b screen has blue vertical lines + VIDEO TDI FAILURE (atikmpag.sys)
My computer runs Windows 10 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit in a dual boot, my laptop has a ATI 6470M graphics card.
I was running a game in Windows 10 when "glitches" started occuring on the screen, blue vertical lines in bands on the screen. I then tried to check for newer drivers, I already had the newest, but tried installing the Crimson Edition Beta.
Issues seem to get worse, windows would start up fine, but while playing a game the screen would suddenly get these strange blue bands, and when the screen is black the entire screen is filled with blue dots.
I left the laptop running for a while, and when I returned to it the screen was non-responsive, so I rebooted.
Now the blue bands appear already during the hp bios welcome screen before the OS has loaded. What is more, I am unable to log on to Windows 10 in normal mode, as it complains of a "VIDEO TDI FAILURE (atikmpag.sys)" error and stops in a blue screen.
I am able to log on in window s10 in safe mode, and when connected to a external display through VGA adapter, but there are still weird artefacts and bands of blue lines.
The same blue lines appear in windows 7, also here I am only able to log on in safe mode.
In my haste to fix this with a driver issue I am also now not able to uninstall the driver through "add or remove programs" in windows 10, perhaps I should have uninstalled the other driver first.The uninstaller gives an errror message, i think it is "error initalizing" or something similar (I can check when I get home)
I have also tried updating the bios from F.22 to F.61, but this did nothing.
My theory is that the ATI card has in fact suffered a severe hardware malfunciton, as the graphics glitches happen already before the OS has loaded, in the HP bios welcom screen/logo screen immediately after startup. I cannot realistically replace the ATI card, so I am worried that the laptop is now bricked. As the laptop is an I5 2520, I assume it has an Integrated HD3000 Intel Graphics Card, but I have never seen this card in the "Device Manager" , this is in my mind maybe the last option I have, that I can just bypass the ATI card and use the other integrated graphics card, that would be acceptable to me.
I would be eternally grateful if anyone has any suggestions for me.

brightness not working
Brightness not changing ever since i bought the notebook. it was a free dos system and i installed windows 8.1 ,however i can neither change brightness leve using f2 or f3 nor from settings. It always remain at full brightness,i guess. should iinstall any drivers, if so which one.

Unable to make HP 22cwa display connect to HDMI
I have an HP2511 attached to a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5378 via HDMI. It works fine. I recently purchased the above 21-inch HP 22cwa and want to attach it to the same laptop via an HDMI splitter.
I tried therefore to test it with the HDMI port first as the SOLE diplay for the system.
The effort failed. The 21-inch is not recognized and I get the "Check Video Cable" message on a dark screen.
Then I connected the 22cwa to the VGA port. It is recognized it and works OK.
One footnote here is that before I tried to connect the new display for the FIRST time, Win10 under Display Settings correctly recognized the laptop display and the HP 2511 as 2 separate monitors identified as 1 and 2.
AFTER the first attempt with the 22cwa, the Display Settings give variously the following identification: 1/2, 1, and 3 and combination thereof, with an "unknown display" THIRD display appearing from time to time.
This identification sequence appears under ANY combination of displays i.e. with the original configuation (laptop and HP 2511) and all other combinations I tried.
In short, Win10 appears to have gone drunk concerning the displays.
My graphics adapter is the Intel 4000. It does not offer output for two external displays at the same time.
Bottom line: (1) why is the new display 22cwa not recognized via HDMI? (2) How did this 1/3, 2/3 etc identification has come up? (3) is there ANY workaround to coax Win 10 to recognize the new monitor?
The object is, as I said before, to have the two external HP displays hooked up to an HDMI splitter and use them as EXTENDED desktop (with the laptop display 'cancelled' and dark).

External Monitor Issue - Elitebook 840
For work I connect my laptop directly to a second monitor and choose the "extend screen option" to allow use of two monitors. This works fine until I unhook from the external monitor. Then my laptop screen goes blank and I am unable to use the laptop. Rebooting the laptop does not correct the issue. The fn options to switch between projector modes does not correct the issue. The windows+P option does not correct the issue. The only resolution I have found is to login to my laptop in safe mode and reset the display settign there. I would like to know how to resolve this so I can unplug my external monitor and not have to login via safemode the next time I use my laptop.
My drives say they are updated.

Whenever I try to plug in an external monitor, my laptops screen goes black and I can not get it back up without restarting my computer. I’ve tried using F4, and I’ve tried closing and opening my laptop. It seems to completely stop my laptop from running, since sound seems to stop when this happens. I also get no signal in the external monitor. Any idea what’s going on? I’m using an HP Pavillion Dv6 Notebook PC.

Hello. I recently bought this laptop and yesterday, accidentaly i unplugged it (The battery was not plugged in). When i tried to open it again the hard drive was working but not the screen. Then i put the battery and the computer was working again. Can any of you tell me why this happened?

HDMI Issues
Hi,
I have loaded Windows 8 just as a test on my ProBook 4510s but it seems that the HDMI port is not working, are there maybe a fix for this or not yet. What options do I have to get this working.
I have tested the cable on anther PC and its working perfect.
Please let me know as soon as possible if there is a fix or a work around, or do I need to go back to Windows 7?

Display Went Bad
It was just a normal day of laptop use when I went to move my computer's screen I heard a pop and the display completely went bad, with several lines running vertically up and down the screen. I would like to know what parts need to be replaced on this device and if it can be a do it yourself type of thing.

Impossibile avviare il dispositivo. (Codice 10)
Salve, ho comprato un cavetto hdmi per collegare il mio portatile (G62-B18EL) alla tv, non ha funzionato quindi ho provato con la risoluzione dei problemi di windows e mi ha portato a gestione dispositivi dove la scheda grafica VGA standard presentava il seguente errore: "Impossibile avviare il dispositivo. (Codice 10)". E' questa la causa del non funzionamento del cavetto? Come posso fare per risolvere?

Spectre x360 HDMI Out issues
I have a Spectre x360 which, up until 2 weeks ago, was able to consistently and perfectly connect to HDMI out at 1080p. However, it can no longer output anything through HDMI and fails to even recognise the monitor. I have connected my specific HDMI cable to another computer and can verify that both the monitor and HDMI cable are in perfect working order; the fault is in the Spectre x360. I have updated all drivers and have restarted the system multiple times. Rolling back to an earlier system image made sure the HDMI worked, so this could be a software issue. Help
