Yesterday a little bit of water was spilled over the notebook. Though it was not powered off immediately, after drying the outcome doesn't seem to've been as disastorous as can be. The system still works fine apart from one thing; at loading Windows when the login screen appears, the display backlight switches off.
When looking at it hard, screen image is still visible and the computer can be operated just fine. I know the backlight itself isn't defective, because at system boot it is still working fine.
Using an external monitor through VGA I can see that in Windows brightness isn't set minimal. Changing the level doesn't seem to affect the notebook's LCD screen at all.
Searching the web I found that it could also be a driver of Windows update issue. Though that would be very coïncidental, I've updated the display driver and also reverted to a system restore point from weeks ago, both without success.
I suspect an interface to be partially defective, that only causes issues when using Windows. Could it be that a sensor or the webcam is used to adjust screen brightness and right now is giving a faulty reading, although I haven't noticed this feature in the past and this extreme kind of dimming would in no situation at all be desirable? Also I can't find any related settings for this in Windows.
Maybe I'm still missing something.
I've run out of ideas. Who can help me resolve this? Thanks in advance.
