My HP TrueVision Webcam "cannot start."

$

My HP TrueVision Webcam has not been working for a while. Before it had said that the webcam wasn't connected, even though it is integrated into the computer. So, I did a factory reset, thinking it would fix the problem. Now, when I check the device manager the device status for the webcam reads "This device cannot start. (Code 10) The I/O device is configured incorrectly or the configuration parameters to the driver are incorrect."
Is there anyway I could fix this?

Black screen problem

When I turn on my Wi-Fi, after some time my laptop's screen goes black. Nothing appears not even cursor. Pressing any key or command also do not restore screen. At last I have to press power button and my pc goes to sleep mode, after that screen functions normally.

I have marked that after screen functioned normally  the command (eg: ctrl+alt+delete) I have applied in order to restore screen is applied but not shown as screen was black so I thought it must be a driver problem but my display driver is up to date.

I am frequently facing this problem after upgrading my pc to windows 10.

Display Driver Question on new HP laptops

$

I am looking to buy a new laptop for my web development work. I have been happy with the HP Sleekbook that I have been using for almost 3 years but as I approach the end of my MSc in computing and am doing more web development work I would like something more powerful, faster and with a better screen. I have my eye on the HP Envy 15-ae109na which fits my budget and desired spec but am concerned about the numerous issues that have arisen recently with display drivers.

The reason for my concern is that I attempted to upgrade my laptop recently and went for an £800 Toshiba Satellite, also with Nvidia graphics, as it offered the spec I wanted at the right price. However, from the day I bought it, the message 'display driver has stopped responding and then recovered' appeared frequently, particularly when I was doing programming work. It meant I had to close the programme and open it again every 5 minutes and despite my many attempts to resolve the issue it was impossible to sort out and basically rendered the laptop impossible for me to use for my work.

I made some long and expensive phone conversations to Toshiba technical support who would only look at resolving the issue if I paid around £60 for a one off repair or around £150 a year for ongoing support, which seemed ridiculous since the laptop was shipped with the issue. So I reluctantly returned it to PCWorld where I had bought it from, who were very helpful and understanding and refunded me. However, I wasted a good few days setting up the new computer, installing all of the software I use on there and transferring all of my files onto it and then trying to resolve the issue and am very concerned that if I buy a new laptop again I might face the same problem.

I am now back with my trusted HP i5 4GB RAM sleekbook which I can live with as it at least works, despite sometimes struggling a little when I have a number of applications open at the same time, but would really like to purchase a trouble-free replacement as upgrading the RAM for this one looks like I would need to take the whole thing apart, having examined the instructions.

So, do I risk buying the HP Envy 15-ae109na and hope it is OK. If it isn't, what are HP's policies if I have the same issue? Will they resolve it for free? Will they let me return it and refund me if it isn't? Or would I be better off going for something without a Nvidia graphics card such as the HP Pavillion 15-ak085na at PCWorld, which has the advantage of being quad core and installing additional RAM and an SSD (I have looked at the instruction booklet and it looks fairly simple to add these on this model). Or might the Intel display driver with this model have similar issues?

I really do not want to go through the problems again of receiving a new computer that is shipped with unresolvable issues and I am an incredibly busy working single parent who is also studying for an MSc in computing. If I can have some kind of assurance that these new laptops have been tested for these driver issues and that if there is an issue it will be resolved by HP, I might risk buying one. If not, it would be good to know from HP now. If I can't find a decent Windows 10 laptop without these issues, would I be better saving up for a MacBook Pro?

Any advice would be very welcome, thanks.

I am thinking of buying one of these new laptops.

Please can someone confirm that they have regular touchscreens as well as the stylus input.

Nowhere can i see this fact in the HP spec.

Also - does the stylus offer handwriting recognition?

Impossible to find CD-Rom/DVD drive in my Device Manager

Hello,

I have a problem with my CD-ROM / DVD drive.

I cannot see it in my system: It's not displayed at Device Manager, however it is shown in BIOS configuration.

I used the Microsoft Fix it tool to repair it but it didn't work - I obtain the message that the program couldn't find my drives.

I wonder if I can do something more to fix it or I should buy the new drive.

Best regards and thanks for your help,

Laptop's GPUs not working on win 7 nor win 10

As the subject states my 2 GPUs (intel HD graphics 3000 & AMD radeon HD 7400M series) are malfunctioning .

i had problems with them on win7 and i couldn't get the correct drivers for them, then i upgraded to win10 and at first they seemed to be working fine and my resolution was 1366*768 but windows constantly failed to load and the laptop freezes on startup (which was happening on win7 when both GPUs were enabled at the same time, which i thought a drivers problem, so i tried installing lots of drivers with no luck in getting them to work together on win7).

so on win10 i tried to disable one of them and work with the other like i used to do on win7, but disabling one resulted in both of them not working as you can see in the next pic.a.PNG

disabling one of them(both of them not working) made my laptop boot perfectly but in 1024*768 resolution, after a couble of enabling and disabling procedures ,i ended up with the following pic, with the intel GPU working and the AMD malfunctioning, the laptop boots fine but still in 1024*768 resolution. b.png

in the advanced display settings i tried displaying adapter properties and that what i got.c.png

does that mean the intel GPU isn't working too ??! , i don't know is it a drivers problem or not but win10 downloaded its drivers without my intervention at all and by the way win10 removed catalyst control center because it isn't suitable for that version of windows or something like that,so even if my AMD GPU was working i think i wouldn't be able to use switchable graphics, i need both of them to work and in full resolution so any help with that issue ??!!

How to I get my customized touchpad settings to carryover through restarting of my computer? The scroll feature will not save after restart and I am forced to change it every time from off default. I have already have current updated driver for touchpad and have tried to save on multiple attempts. Any suggestions?

(separate issue similar in nature-the number keys will not stay engaged upon restart either. Must turn off sticky keys and turn off beep feature on this as well upon startup too. )

HP prbook 4540s screen flickering

When I start my computer from sleep mode, the monitor flickers rapidly for 15-20 seconds then runs fine. The same thing usually happens when the computer wakes up after a couple hours of idling. I’ve updated my video card 5 days ago and set my refresh rate at 60 hz (which is the highest available).the flickering occurs only at the starting moments & never occurs once the computer passes that initial period of flickering. I’m using windows7 64bit OS.I don’t know what to do now…..

My touchpad freaks out frequently.  The driver is up to date.  Sometimes it won't scroll at all, sometimes the cursor jumps to the top of the screen, I've tried adjusting the sensitivity, the palm check etc, other times it works perfectly.  Frustated.
