Stream 13 keyboard

I have recently started having a weird problem with my keyboard. The Y-U H-J N-M keys don't work in a browser immediately after I boot up.  I can hold down one of the keys down or tap it continuously and nothing happens.  After about 15 minutes, they begin to work intermittantly -- slow to respond, lowercase works but upper does not, etc.

But, if I go to a simple text editor and hold down just one key it seems to clear the problem within a few seconds. I can go back to the browser and everything works normally (I am typing this entry with no problem after doing the text editor trick).

I have tried clearing history and cache on the browser but that doesn't help.

Anyone have any other suggestions/ideas?

Thanks.

Kathi

Calendar is gone

When I click on the time/date in the bottom right hand corner nothing happens.  It used to bring up the calendar, now it doesn't.  Even if I choose the calendar from the apps on the start menu it flashes something then nothing is shown.

I have just discovered too that the apps don't work either, calendar, Cortana, calculator, camera, on down the list I can't pull anything up.

Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered

I have been getting this error for the last month.

I got a little tired of it whe it started killing browser sessions, and generally doing other painful things.

I found your technote http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01317954 and have followed steps 1, 4, and 5 so far.

I can't follow step 2 because your OEM drivers seem to be at least 5 revisions behind Intel's, but Windows won't let me update them. Yours are 10.18.15.4248 and intel is at 15.40.10.4300 for the same chipset (HD graphics 4600).

I would like to know what my troubleshooting options are, especially since the system hard-hung yesterday, and I don't know if that was related to the video drivers or something else. (I am setting up for keyboard-generated crash dumps now, just in case.)

Laptop goes to sleep randomly

Purchased this laptop over the weekend, but a major issue I am having is that it seems to randomly go into sleep mode. There is no period of inactivity, and all power settings related to sleep/hibernate are set to "never".

I can be using the machine for anything from 20 minutes to an hour with nothing out of the ordinary happening, then the fan starts to go loud and fast, then suddenly the screen goes black, into sleep mode and everything is then quiet. I press the power button which then brings me to the "enter your password" screen, and everything is normal again. Except 5 minutes later, the same thing happens again, and its will repeat this over and over.

Any questions, please ask, but I would love to know why this is doing this!

Thanks, James

Windows 10 Compatability with HP dv7 ... when?

$

When will HP (or Microsoft) have a definitive FIX for Windows 10 compatability with HP Pavilion dv7.  Clearly there are problems from wireless connectivtiy to the screen icons flashing to very long start-up times and more.  I'm not willing to just "roll the dice" then spend the next 2 weeks being frustrated on calls with support services.  I need my laptop to function.  So ....

1)  Will there be a DEFINITIVE fix that is absolutely verifed to work?

2)  If there is going to be a fix, approximately when will it be available?

3)  Is the correct (best) answer to simply purchase a newer laptop with Windows 10 already loaded?

Thank you for your hopefully candid response.

Mike

Adding SSD to Envy x360 15-u111dx

I have this HP ENVY x360 - 15-u111dx and I would like to add a SSD to this laptop for the OS to reside on.   According to the HP Support Assistant, it is a product number J9H90UA#ABA.

HP Support page for this laptop provides me a link to this maintenance and service guide, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04513489.  It seems to indicate that it does have the ability to take an SSD in the form factor of "M.2 2280-S3-B-M"  And in the product description, it says in the Internal Expansion section that it has this, "One 2280 M.2 daughter board - optional support for SSD"

Used space on the C: drive is 90GB.  The D: (recovery) uses about 30GB.

This leaves me with a few questions.

1.  Can a SSD be added while keeping the factory 1TB drive installed?

2.  Can I migrate the OS (and recovery partition) to that SSD, boot to that SSD, all the while not messing the up the ability to do a system restore/recovery of the OEM Windows 8.1 software provided by HP?

I think step 2 will be the trickiest.  If someone knows of a free product to do this, I would welcome that recommendation.  I'll also take recommendations for paid software if no free exists.

Thanks.

Edit:  Sorry, I also have a video problem, and must have had that on my mind when I sellected where to post this.  Could a mod move this to the correct forum please?

igfxEM.exe High CPU when switching user

Product Number:  J9H90UA#ABA

I've installed this week what the HP update tool says is the latest video driver and this problem remains.  This problem has been with this laptop since I first got it.  It was exclusively

The problem occurs when a user does a "switch user" to allow another member of my household login.   No additional applications need to be running by either user to cause this.  This has occurred even when there are no browsers/application running for either user.  On more rare occasions, only one user needs to be logged in for this process to go high CPU.

Killing the process with sysinternals process explorer makes the high CPU go away and I have never seen a detrimental result to killing it.  All video continues to seemingly work normally.

The HP Support Assistant says I have the following driver;

Intel(R) Processor Graphics  -  Intel Corporation  -  10.18.14.4029

I would like this problem to go away permanently.  None of my other HP laptops have this particular problem when switching users.

I have my Spectre laptop hooked up to an external monitor with an HDMI cable. Even as I write this, my monitor blinks black and then the screen reappears. It goes black for about 2 seconds, and at seemingly random times... but often enough to annoy the hell outta me. I have tried multiple HDMI cables, updated my drivers and tried plugging into TV... NOTHING is working to fix this problem. Can someone please help? Did I make a mistake in purchasing this computer? The speakers have alreaday crapped out and I've only owned this computer for 6 months... but that's another story.

Thanks for your help!

HP Evy purchased at the end of May for starting up a new business cost €700 steel case never left the house. Screen cracked fom hinge on the left hand side of the screen crack under screen. Laptop never left the desk was not moved screen shut at night and the next day when opened crack on screen. HP said accidential damage, shop PC World Naas attempted to say it was dented and dropped (no marks whatsoever on steel case). PC World Naas sent it off at the end of November and HP two weeks later said accidential damage would not cover it, then PC World charged €70 to send it off for repair asked how much it would cost was told between €150/170 was very annoyed but sent it off as needed it for my business. Today 4 days after Xmas I get a call to say it would cost €420 to fix the screen and I had 48 hours to make a decision if I wanted it fixed and to pay for it. I am extremely annoyed and feel totally ripped off and will never buy another HP laptop again or shop in PC World, Currys or Harvey Norman's may I also add that I am writing this message on a HP EliteBook and have had numerous other laptops and thought long and hard about the make and model laptop for my new business. Will be in touch with Consumer Affairs and Citizens Advice tomorrow first thing. Waiting for a call back from PC World customer services since 6.30 pm

Thanks in advance!

Can't install Intel Graphics

Just installed win 10, have installed all drivers needed except the Intel HD Graphics. When i download the driver from the hp drivers page after it extracts it shows an error saying that computer doesnt meet the minimum requirements.

I went to the Intel page to download the driver there (HD Graphics 4000) and this said the same thing.

When I look in Device Manager it just shows my AMD card and no Intel card there not even if I show hidden devices.

What does this mean?

I am having some issue with the fan coming on when there is little proccessing being done such as browsing the web only, through research on Google I have found out that the reason maybe if the pc is only using the AMD card for al graphics and not the stadard Intel graphics. Is this true?

Can't compensate for Overscan: x2 Convertable, Intel HD Graphics

Driving a Panasonic 58" display from HDMI, can't get any options to scale the output to compensate for overscan (desktop too large). Display supports 1920x1080 60i, but cant seem to generate any options to fix the overscan with the supplied driver (10.18.15.4263). Has HP locked out the ability to do overscan compensation in this driver, and if so, will future driver updates allow this to be accomplished?
