Screen is black.

I few weeks ago I tired using my laptop. I just used it the day before. The computer turned on but the picture didn't come up. You can hear the laptop turn on but the screen was black. I thought the brightness was down but I it wasn't. I tried everyday that week. I gave it a break then tried it again. It still didn't work. My dad looked at it and he said he didn't what was wrong with it. I had a paper that I needed for school on there. Luckly he changed his mind and didn't take it. I just want to get it solved. Can you help me?

Laptop *only* displays on HDMI port

I have a newish (about 1 month) one of these. I had used it a couple of times to show a presentation via the HDMI port, viewing something separate on the laptop's screen - just as I wanted.

Last week I was doing this and wanted to reboot it, I did something that I had never done before: I rebooted it with the external display still connected via the HDMI port. When it rebooted it would only display on the HDMI port, rebooting again and entering the BIOS I found that that was displayed via the HDMI, nothing at all on the laptop's own screen.

How do I get it to display on the integral screen?

I upgraded it to Linux Mint 17.2 (mate desktop) as soon as I got it.

Hp laptop's screen is dead. I would like to connect a screen from a previous HP desktop that died.

I have to go to the painful process of transfering all the useful stuff...again.

There seems to be no connection and the screen goes to sleep,.

Tried illumination and F4 but resultless.

Using regular cable ..no HDMI output.

Wrong screen colours

Hello!

My pavillion's dv 6 6c55ev monitor appears to have a colour dispaly problem. I run under both ubuntu 14.04 and windows 7 and in both os the display seems to be blue ish...as if the blue colour is enhanced somehow. I cannot understand how this occured, I terminated normally, and by the time I booted again I saw everything "through a blue filter". There are no horizontal or vertical lines, or anything bizzare on the screen, just a blue colour over everthing.

I connected the laptop to another monitor and the colours run as they should be.

So my question is, is it a hardware or a software issue here?

thnx in advance

Hi there,

I am new to the forum and appreciate any assistance.

I am trying to connect my new HP Envy 13-d000na via Miracast or WiDi to a LG Monitor TV 27MT93V.

In the Action Centre when I click Support the TV is found and connecting. I am told to follow the on screen instructions on the TV, however on the TV's Miracast/WiDi page 'No results are found'. I can't find any reference to Miracast on the Laptop therefore perhaps this sort of sharing is not compatible but I would be interested to know if any other screen sharing is possible between the two.

I believe I have updated the software for WiDi on the lalptop but am not experienced in doing so, so cannot guarantee this. I am not sure whether the issue is with the TV or the Laptop.

Can anyone assist with this matter? If anyone requires any further information I would be happy to provide.

Many thanks in advance,

There is something wrong with my new hp ENVY x360 laptop

I am a complete novice at this but there is a problem with my screen where at first whatever app I used remained in the background even when I closed it off (not running) but like a screen shot and it would stay there untill something else was opened and the same thing would happen again. Even when you shut down the laptop and restart it it doesn't work. I have even tried to factory reset it to fix the problem. After a while it seemed to have been fixed, but now there is an even larger problem. When I turn my laptop on the screen is very very dark to the point where I am barely able to make out what it says and you still see the closed apps still in the background. It looks like the ink has been drained out of the screen and I am very concerned. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

To All Hp Users having Video TRD issues and Video Scheduler Internal Errors

0

Hi everyone,

I have been a very loyal HP customer since I joined college. However after buying my second laptop, HP Envy 15 TouchSmart J101tx, I have been very disappointed with the experience I have had so far with the laptop. My laptop has the following specs:

  • Intel Core i7 4702MQ @2.2GHz
  • 1TB 5400 rpm HGST hard drive and 24Gb mSATA SSD.
  • Intel HD 4600 + Nvidia GT 750M with 4GB dedicated graphics.
  • 8GB DDR3 RAM.
  • 15.6 inch display with 1920 by 1080 resolution.

I have had quite a few number of problems with the laptop of which most of them have been resolved after warranty claims. However, my main problem started after my warranty period expired.

I updated my laptop to Windows 10 in September just a month after its release. The overall Windows experience was smooth with Windows 10 being very fluid and with a very elegant user interface. However, one day I went and updated all my drivers through windows update and everything worked well. After the update, I shut down my laptop and the next time I restarted it, everything was still fine. I then decided to watch a video and in the process I saw several distorted pixels and after about 15 seconds my laptop crashed with a blue screen, VIDEO_TDR_ERROR. This marked the beginning of my woes.

My laptop became unusable, starting the laptop only resulted in a black screen at log-in screen and later a black screen. If the laptop went past the login screen, then the result was a fully pixelated screen with dancing distorted pixels followed by a VIDEO_TDR_ERROR or VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR. Connecting an external tv via HDMI cable still gave the same results, so my screen could not be the problem. Furthermore, the laptop only works under three conditions:

  • Booting into safe mode.
  • Disabling Intel HD graphics in device manager.
  • Completely uninstalling Intel HD drivers and using the Microsoft basic display adapter that cannot even allow video playback in full HD resolution and the screen resolution and brightness remains locked and cannot be changed. Even using adobe reader lags when using this configuration.

After doing a lot of research online, I found that some users reported changing the Intel HD driver versions, and their problems were solved. However, I strongly doubt if their problems were solved. According to some laptop users with the same problem, reducing the dedicated VRAM or Intel graphics to 128mb worked. However, my hp bios is locked, and that solution cannot be validated with 2013 to 2015 hp envy laptops since their bios are all locked. Alienware users were able to solve this problem by completely disabling their Intel HD graphics completely and using the dedicated graphics, and all was well. Some hp zbook users who had the same problem also had an option of switching to discrete graphics in bios settings and everything was solved. However in the hp Envy line of laptops, the Nvidia GPU is a coprocessor, and the frame buffer lies in the Intel chip, so disabling Intel graphics completely cripples the graphical performance of the laptop.

Later I went to Intel website and found a very shocking news. According to the link https://communities.intel.com/message/310093, Intel HD 4600 is not fully compatible with Windows 10. This is completely outrageous. How can a company make processor and tell us that it is not compatible with its drivers?? No wonder I found several complaints on the Intel website regarding the graphic problems of the Intel graphics of 4th generation laptop processors. The main signs of the problem include the following:

  1. VIDEO_TDR_ERRORS
  2. VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERRORS
  3. Intel graphics for windows 8 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
  4. Igdkmd64.sys errors

Nvidia users with failing GPUs also faced blue screen errors with nvlddmkm.Sys errors. This made me not to give up on my $800 laptop because I knew there had to be a problem somewhere that could be solved in the laptop. First I did the following:

  1. Downloaded and installed 5 different versions of Intel drivers, black screen, BSODs and pixelation persisted after installing Intel graphics driver.
  2. Downgraded to Windows 8.1 black screen, BSODs and pixelation persisted after installing Intel graphics driver.
  3. Downgraded to Windows 8 black screen, BSODs and pixelation persisted after installing Intel graphics driver.
  4. Downgraded to Windows seven black screen, BSODs and pixelation persisted after installing Intel graphics driver.
  5. Tried 32-bit versions of Windows black screen, BSODs and pixelation persisted after installing Intel graphics driver.

I tested all the windows each with 5 different Intel HD drivers, some from hp and some from intel, and the result was the same. The black screen of death started immediately after installing the intel graphics driver. Installing Nvidia drivers went smoothly with no errors yet the GPU could not be used without Intel HD drivers.

Now that my laptop was out of warranty, I decided to take a bold move to use the skills I have learned in the four years I have studied electrical engineering. I borrowed two hp envy laptops:

  • Hp Envy 15 TS J101tx with similar specs as mine.
  • HP Envy 17 TS J100 with Core i5 4200M 8gb ram 2gb NVIDIA 1tb HDD and 24GB mSATA.

All the laptops had 4th generation Intel Core processors with Intel HD 4600 graphics and Nvidia GPUs. However, only my laptop had a problem with its graphics. The claim that Intel HD 4600 is not compatible with Windows 10 was then discredited as the two hp Envy that I borrowed were all running smoothly with Windows 10 and Intel HD 4600. I decided to swap the components to determine the cause of the problem in my laptop. The following result was achieved:

  • Swapping ram chips, my problems persisted with the other two running well.
  • Swapping hard disks, mSATA and network cards, only my laptop had issues.

I then dismantled all the three laptops completely and did a processor test on the laptops. The results were shocking, my processor-integrated GPU chip had FAILED!!! The problem with my laptop was replicated in the two other laptops when I put my processor in them. On the other hand, my laptop ran well with the other two processors.

So today, I am humbled enough to apologize to HP and Microsoft for blaming them for my problems yet it is clear the problem comes directly from Intel. Further research on the internet reveals that the problem with Intel graphics persists with 4th generation Intel Core processors with Intel HD 4xxx graphics. Moreover, the problem occurs across different laptop brands and models regardless of the manufacturer. Now I just have a few recommendations to make:

  • Hp should RECALL ALL LAPTOPS using Intel HD 4600 and having the same problems.
  • Hp should stop the production of laptops with 4th generation Intel Core processors and use either 5th generation or 6th generation processors for future production.
  • Anyone with the problems described above should not use the Microsoft basic display adapterDriver and return their laptop to hp for repair if the laptop is still under warranty.
  • Hp should provide an Unlocked Bios update to enable users to switch to the dedicated graphics if their intel GPU is faulty and the laptop is out of warranty (like me).
  • Someone should sue Intel for this.

I hope this document will help most of us who have been facing the same problem. Thank you.

Dm4 1028tx ati graphics

Hi

my DM4 1028tx had a functioning graphics card for exactly 3 years, the day my warranty expired, the graphics card burnt. So in the device manager, i disabled it, and happily ran my pc on intel HD graphics.

Recently, i found my motherboard on ebay, very cheap, so i bought it and replaced it in my lappy. However, now i can't get a hand on the graphics drivers. The AMD website gave me a catalyst software, when i install it, it says my card is not supported. I can't seem to find which card I have installed. Updating in device manager has failed, windows update is fully on, and it didn't give me the driver. I've tried all that.

If anyone here is using HP dm4 1028tx, please let me know which ATI Radeon card it is. I know its 1GB, and I think it is 4XXX or 5XXX something. I need to know which card it is so i can try to locate the driver on some forums or p2p hosts.

Altrernatively, if someone knows a link to download, that'll be pure awesomeness !!

Much appreciated.

Regards.

Slow Boot Since Windows 10 Upgrade - AMD Radeon HD 6700M 1920*1080 Display

Hello,

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my boot takes over 90 seconds.

Was 15 sec with Windows 7.

The issue seems to be related to my AMD Radeon HD 6700M display adapter as I am back to 15 sec if disabled (I loose 1920 definition however).

This seems to be a common problem, but I could not identify a successful resolution.

Is this still outstanding for all in this situation?

Any hope to have this addressed as I bought this high specs laptop with the hope to be future proof for a bit longer that.

How can I be notified of a future fix?

Regards,

Guy

Hi ,

I recently bought an HP Notebook - 15-ac120tx Notebook .

This is running on Windows 10 64 Bit .

Ram : 8GB

The problem :

As you can see , There are two graphic cards . AMD Radeon R5 M330 And Intel HD Graphics 5500 .

Now , All the games are running on Intel Graphics and not AMD .

I want all games to Run on AMD As it is dedicated .

I did not understand switchable graphics , But even when I Turn on High Performance for the NFS HP 2010 (GAME , CONFIG AND LAUNCHER) ,

It runs on INTEL graphics and not AMD .

I run the config file on NFS HP 3 .

And in that , It is displayed as "Intel HD 550" And not AMD .

ONLY INTEL .

And when I disable INTEL Graphics in the dewvice manager ,

It runs on Microsoft Basic Driver .

Please help me ASAP .
