i have a nvidia geforce sticker, but cant find the graphic card anywhere.... do i even have it?
the only thing i can find that has anything to do with nvidia, is the sticker and the nvidia PhysX that is in my programs and features. i looked in my devise manager/ display adaptors, i right clicked the desktop, i looked in Dxdiag but nothing with nvidia pop up. i havent tried looking into my bios yet because i'm affrade i might click something i'm not suppose to 
and i couldn't fine any video on how to do it for windows 8. i dont know if i did something wrong in the past for it to just disappear. or that i do have something to do with nvidia, but it's not a video card, or i dont have it at all and this sticker is just here to trick me into buying it 0.o? i read something about how some guy got nvidia optimus but it just makes your batteries more stronger and have nothing to do with video card. so i dont know if i have the same case.

Could it be something wrong with the HDMI cable. Its just shows NO SIGNAL for couple of seconds and then black screen.

Compaq nc8430 running too hot...
I've got a Compaq nc8430 (Win XP) that's been running too hot and shuts down the video display. I can get the video back after unplugging the laptop and leaving it in the refrigerator for an hour. I've removed and cleaned the heat sink/fan assembly and re-installed it with new thermal paste with only slight improvement. How can I speed-up the cooling fan? Do I need to access the BIOS? I tried accessing the BIOS using the F10 'Set Up' key but access was password protected. Can I access the BIOS with some sort of universal password for a Compaq nc8430???

HP Spectre XT- dark shadow on screen
4 months ago a small dark shadow appeared at the right bottom corner of the screen whilst adjusting its angle. Initially it was very small occupying approximately 1/8th of the screen, radiating up from the right corner (darkest in the corner and fading as it radiated out). A quick restart temporarily got rid of the problem. However, it reoccured intermittantly and was usually trigered by movement of the screen. Usually a restart would solve the problem.
About a 2 months ago, the shadow became a permenant resident and was now present from the moment I turned on the laptop. No amount of restarts helped. I soon got used to this as I could still see through the shadow.
Three weeks ago however, I turned on my laptop to see the shadow now stretched over half of my screen radiating up from the right corner as before. I can now barely see through the right corner and have been using a monitor.
I have gleaned from these forums that I am not the only one to have experienced such a problem. Please could you help advise what I can do as my warranty ran out 16 months ago.

HP 15-f100dx fan stays on; computer will not turn on or off
My HP 15-f100dx laptop, which I have had for less than a year, will not start. Last night, I was using the laptop for normal, routine tasks (e.g. email, Google Sheets, browsing Facebook photo albums). Occasionally, pictures from the Facebook photo albums would flash in parts of the screen outside the browser window, which led me to believe something was wrong. The machine was still mostly usable, so I used it for about an hour or so with no issues except for the occasional flashing pictures (which happened about 4-5 times in the whole time I used the machine).
First thing this morning, I tried to start both of my laptops. They were both plugged in. The laptop I am using to type this post is working as expected. The HP 15-f100dx gave me a brief message which mentioned BIOS. Since it only stayed up for a second or so, I couldn't read the whole message. There was a progress bar which advanced to about 10-20%.
Then the screen went dark. For the past half hour, the fan has been on, the screen is still dark, and I cannot turn the computer all the way on or all the way off. (Typically, if I needed to turn the computer off immediately, I know I can do that by holding down the power button for a few seconds. No luck here - even if I hold down the power button for 30+ seconds.) Even if I unplug the laptop or shut the lid, the fan keeps running, and I can't do anything with the computer.
What is going on here, and how do I fix it? Since my other laptop's sound card is broken, the HP 15-f100dx is the only machine I can use for Skype - which is critically important for my business. (I am self-employed.)
Edit: I have removed the battery and done a reset as instructed here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768. This did not work. All I get is an orange light on the F12 key to indicated that the machine is not connected to WiFi. The fan is no longer on. The power light and display are still not on. The machine now does respond to my holding down the power button to turn it off, but turning it back on just gave me the orange light on F12, no power light, and black screen again.

I'm having problem with my graphics card (HD Radeon 7400) on my laptop. When I install the latest driver from HP drivers page, in the middle of installing process, the computer freezes and the screen goes black.
And when i shut down the laptop and Started again does not work
Note: on Windows8 , Windows10 and Windows7 the driver installation has same problem

Elitebook 745 hangs on Boot with UltraSlim Docking Station
New Elitebook 745 running Windows 8.1 64 bit hangs at the pre windows "Hit the ESC key to .. " screen bewfore Windows launch when connected to ultraslim docking station attached to 2 external monitors. i desire to extend my display across 2 external monitors, but can not do so when booting cold while docked, or returning from sleep mode while docked. I can successfully extend the display to the external monirots while docked, but only after booting non-docked, once the PC is fully booted I can then dock, and go through then hassle of discovering montiors, changing resolution, etc... I have also substuted out the docking station with another one with no change to the problem.

HP840 with dual external monitors needs setup constant for docked and undocked
I have an HP840 Laptop with it's docking station (ultraslim dock 2013). The dock has dual display port connections on it which I connect to dual monitors. I'd like to have the configuration automatically select a single monitor when docked that being the notebooks own display (and have it be the main screen. But, when docked, I'd like (automatically) to have the dual monitors be screen 1 and 2 (be able to select which is always which) and allow the laptop to be closed with the internal screen disabled.
As it is now this takes allot of fussing around to get this going with laptop restarts need when left for a time.

replace screen
Hi,
My daughter has badly cracked the screen on her HP Pro x2 410 G1 Notebook.
It is out of warranty, where do I go to get it repaired please? I have contacted a local repairer and he tells me that he is not able to buy the replacement screen as it is too new, and that I need to go to HP direct. I have been looking everywhere and can't find any details of a UK based HP repair centre.
This is very urgent as she needs to have the notebook for her school work.
Please can someone tell me what I need to do to repair the machine?

Screen backlight not working
Howdy,
The backlight for my screen is not working. The screen is making a picture (I can see it if I shine a light near it) but the backlight is not on. I've replaced the screen with a new unit and I get the same issue. The issue exists as soon as the computer boots.
The BIOS has been updated to the latest revision but this made no difference. Even though this seems to be a hardware issue I've updated the video card and fn key drivers with no difference.
The ambient light sensor has been disabled in the BIOS.
The screen brightness setting is at maximum.
Any advice on possible solutions or what parts I should replace would be appreciated. At this point I think I have to replace the inverter and cables.

Green screen for videos
Hello I am not good with computers at all and have this new Hp 15-g220nr notebook and I can not watch any videos they are all green. Please helpe to fix this problem. I only know how to go on facebook and yahoo. I have no knowledge of the technical things or places to go to fix things. HELP I am old never grew up with these things!!

HP Envy screen glitches and freezes when at a certain angle
When my screen is oriented at around a 90 degree angle, my display will either glitch out (colors become inverted, etc) or occasionally freeze while the screen gets brighter until it turns white. When this happens, the only way to fix the display is to move the screen to a different angle. Any ideas for what's causing this problem, and any solutions?

40s or more black screen before login apears on Windows 10
Hi,
I think it still remain the comon problem on HP Notebooks that HP dont give support for new OS (It's why next purchase I should take in consideration if it should be HP).
My notebook as an Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 and ATI AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series.
8Gb Ram and SSD disk.
This issue occurs on windows 8.1 also but was solved with Catalyst UnifLdrivers (with lot of work).
After upgrading to windows 10, my notebook that took 6 seconds to load system, now, it remains in a minimum 40s black screen, and sometimes after pressing a lot of keys (also windows key+P to change screen was tried) it brings logon screen.
Tried new drivers for intel HD 3000 and the new from ATI AMD but problem still remains.
Since HP dont care with customers that have "hold" notebooks with mores than 3 years, (don't develop custom drivers) I ask to the users of this forum if they have some known solution or workaround to solve this, (I really don't want do downgrade to windows 7).

Screen Flickers when starting up
Just recently my HP Pro Book screen starts flickering when you start it up. That's all it does. Unable to log in. However I can log into the safe mode the screen display is fine.
While in the safe mode I removed and reinstalled the display adapter in the device manager. After restarting the Pro Book the screen still flickered. I called the 1-800 Tech support # last night and was told that my warranty had expired and it was the screen.

Video is enlarged when charging
If I have my laptop charging and try to watch a video, the video is zoomed in and all pixel looking. Plug the charging cord out and it plays normal plus the cord back in the laptop and back to zoomed in play. Nothing is visible on the video because how far it is zoomed in.

4535s switchabe graphics stopped applying my settings
Hello everyone
I've been enjoying this HP Probook 4535s/Win 7 Pro x64 laptop for a while now and had no problems with graphics but recently I discovered that I'm unable to switch graphics to High performance for my apps.
For example when I choose "High Performance" and "Apply" it reverts back to "Not assigned". That goes for some games I installed and even for Chrome, Photoshop and other apps.
It's like my 6520G is always on for almost all apps and high-performace 7450M is off and I barely use it.
So my question is how can I force my laptop to use only the High performance GPU for all apps?
I have video driver 8.902.1-111025b-127775C-HP
Catalyst Engine Control version is 2011.1026.2.41350
and I recently even updated to the latest BIOS 68CPC Ver. F.60
The options I see
1) Update BIOS so you can switch to Fixed graphics there.
I updated and FAILED. There's no option fixed or dynamic in f60 bios for my laptop.
I can only tick switchable graphics on and off.
Moreover I regret installing new BIOS for no reason because there's no switching back (at all) and you never know it might cause crash or whatever. All these "2015" versions and updates tend to be poorly made and I tend to use good old software for years...
2) Update driver to 8.902.1-111025B-127775C Rev. D from 12 december 2011 or even to Catalyst v15.xx and force graphics from there?
I hear updating Catalyst might cause a lot of problems for this laptop like it might have brightness glitches, BSODs and stuff like that if I install non-HP Catalyst drivers.
So no way I'm not going to try it unless I get a clear explanation from HP support.
So once again how can I force my laptop to use only the High performance GPU for all apps?

Pavilion 15 AMD A8 range - Crossfire support?
Hi,
I'm in the market for a new laptop for work. I'm a game developer - I currently use Unity but ideally want to be able to have the option to use Unreal Engine 4 on the laptop. I currently use a HP G6. This hasn't been great - fan has had an issue with sticking since it was about 10 months old and because of having to take it apart to fix more than once, the case is loose. Need to get some new screws for it.
In any event, it has an i3 and 4Gb RAM so Unreal won't run on it.
My budget is limited but something that's caught my eye is the HP 15-series. These are the ones with the A8-7410 Quad Core and R7M360. I'm just wondering if the R7 can be put into crossfire configuration with the R5 built into the A8.
