Aloha!

my comp recently crashed completely after updating my Norton account at the same time that Windows dumped out a bunch of automatic updates that caused a conflict between the two. Windows firewall kept turning itself on, conflicting w/ Norton, and locked it up. we had Norton techs remote "fix" it 5 times and each time it recrashed, even after removing Norton. everytime a fix was attempted after that it just escalated into a hard disk crash. my bf is a comp tech btw, so yes we were doing ALL the right things. Windows would not even let me do a backup or restore disk before melting down on me. the comp was completely fine before all of this mess, so i'm pretty **bleep** vexed!!! i have searched the hp site for a reboot disk and do not see one, is there any still available? i'm a full time student so i really need my comp, and would hate to have to spend money i absolutely dont have to get another just because of Windows dumping their untested updates that crashed it. any helpful info to find a reboot disk is eternally appreciated!

I have a question regarding the touch-screen.

Is the optional touch-screen compatible with any active pen such as HP active pen or is it purely "passive" touch so it requires physical impact (and thus works with any pointy object?)

when i connect to the power adapter laptops screen goes blank but it is still working. when i take the power adapter off and restart it it runs again smoothly . i mean it becomes totally blank when i connect with the charger .

and i have changed the power setting .but it won't helps.

so i need some appropriate advice. it been 6 months.

Looking at getting a Graphics Card,but want to know what will fit in my HP Pavilion DV6 Laptop. If these cannot fit/do not work,please inform me of something that will fit and work well. I am not getting a new computer,however,as they are way out of my price-range,and this Pavilion DV6 is amazing,I even tested my computer's specs and the graphics processor has always failed on me while everything else is ABOVE AVERAGE. Please,someone,help me!

Hi, anyone please help my with my laptop display problem?

but first, here is my hardware specs:

Laptop model: Pavilon G4 1214tx

CPU Brand Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz

Motherboard Model: Hewlett-Packard 166E

graphic: (switchable)

Intel HD 3000 (Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_166E103C&REV_09)

and

AMD HD 6470m (hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&SUBSYS_166E103C&REV_00)

So, few days ago i detected that the switchable graphic option (the one that usually appear when i right clikcing in desktop) didn't work and shows an error everytime i try to open it (i forgot what error it says) and i think: "nah, piece of cake, i'll just update the driver and everything will be back to normal". (never i been so wrong)

I then download the driver for my laptop from Here. both AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver and Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver.

But, errors then happened:

1. When i install the Intel driver, this error message appears: "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver drom the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit." the installation proccess then stopped

2. When i Install the AMD, this error message appears: "Application Install:install package error" the installation keeps on running and finished anyway. but then option for switching graphics is completely missing and catalyst control center is empty.. plus, there is exclamation mark in windows device manager

after pulling out my hair out of frustation for few days, i then download AMD autodetect utility from here

Using the AMD autodetect i installed a new driver as it suggests.

It seems like working fine, till i realized device manager shows that my devices is AMD Radeon 7000 series instead of AMD Radeon HD 6470m. AND some games didn't runs well (life is strange and MW3)

The games is running without any error message whatsoever, but the game screen goes completely blank (yep, blank, not blinking, darkened or whatever, just blank), even though the game sound and music could be heard and even when i randomly clicking my mouse, the option sound could be heard. It is not freeze tho, bc i still could use Alt-tab to minimize the game and go to desktop (everything is normal while the game is minimized).

I suspect that i should install the driver from HP instead of AMD, but with that "package error" problems, seems like it is not a solution either.

Does anyone knows any solution for this problem? Any help would be appreciated

I have been playing games fine with Windows 7 but when I updated to Windows 10 you can hear the game playing but it has a black screen. How do I make it so I can see the game?

I was reseting my laptop to it's factory default but unfortunately we have had a light out and my battery is not strong it's 50% now so what will happen when it goes off and the reset is not finished. Any help is appreciated.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m on my notebook, upgraded to Windows 10. My OS is up-to-date and so are all the available drivers (as shown by HP Support Assistant). The problem was also present when my PC was running Windows 8.

The problem: the OS sees the GPU, and claims it works correctly (as in Device Manager). However, applications only see the integrated Intel chip. Two examples: CCleaner (no mention of the GPU's existence) and games, like Age of Empires III (when I open it, it says my graphics is too weak to run it, since it only sees the Intel chipset). Also, DeSmuME's graphical accelerator doesn't work. Basically, it seems like programs are only using the integrated chip and not the GPU.

I tried: reinstalling drivers (uninstalled and reinstalled them), playing with NVIDIA Control Panel settings (setting it as primary graphics card didn't help).

Can anyone help?

My HP ENVY TouchSmart screen / display will turn completely black when I try to adjust the screen. Basically the screen is very sensitive. If I move the screen back (open lid) it will almost always go black and then if I move it forward (close) it will come back on. Something seems to be wrong with it unless this is some safety feature of the touchsmart that I don't know about. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

device manager says display adapter is installed and working properly. Catalyst control center will not open. I have no idea if my Radeon HD6700m is even working.

I tried updating driver from HP and in device manager and both say I have the best driver installed. CCC will still not open and says I have no driver isntalled.

Win update doesn't have any updates.

Recently I have been having some issues with my screen on a good day it works normally but most days it keeps flickereing on an off or does not display the images at all. So, I have to conenct an external monitor via the hdmi port to use my notebook which only diplays an image when I get to the log in screen. Additionally a couple a days ago I deteced that sometimes I am able to detect faint images op the background. Does anyone know what the problem may be or how I can resolve it

I purchased my HP Spectre x360 (i7, 8GB, 256SSD, Windows 10) two days ago.
It worked perfectly until midday today when the touch keyboard icon in the bottom right of the toolbar began to toggle on and off for no reason. Simultaneously, the touch screen was unresponsive for the majority of the 13.3" display. When the icon is not toggling, everything works fine. This problem occurs (what seems like) at random times for random durations.

I have done nothing outside normal use and checking to make sure there are no problems.
My guess is it has something to do with switching from the various "360" modes and possibly the connectivity between the screen and keyboard panels.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Are there any solutions already in place?

Hello there,

Not a long time ago (4days) I have resetted my pc to factory settings because of some problems (Black screen of death). I have installed updates by windows installer but I had some problems with my graphic drives (crashes) so I used atodetectutility.exe from amd site to update my drivers. It updated from 6940m to 7400s but after some time I noticed that Iam missing catalyst control centre so I checked into device manager and when I saw that exclamation mark after the name of drivers. I clicked on properties and saw "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I seem to have lost performance in games and overall performance but I (luckily) dont have any other problems but Id like to fix it as soon as possible. Adding that I have used slimdrivers to update other drivers than graphic drivers. Thanks for help in advance.
