My laptop is the HP Pavilion 17-e184ca. Graphics card is the AMD 8650G + 8670M dual graphics card.
I notice in CCC that the 8650G is listed as the primary adapter, which is the "less powerful" one.
Is there any way to make the 8670M the primary adapter? I have no option in the BIOS of doing this, so I was wondering if there is another method.
Help!!!! I am having a situation where my screen suddenly turns white with black lines going from top to bottom - looks like a pin stripe affect. I have executed several different anti-virus and malware programs and nothing was identified. If I turn my PC off and re-boot, I may be ok for a few minutes before it occurs again. Did some searching and ran into a possible graphic card issue defining what seems close to my situation. Can you help me in further diagnosing the issue?
Recent update: I was just powering my PC up and now my screen flashes like lightening and is now stiped side to side and vibrating like crazy.

hy, the screen is completely black , I tried to connect it to an external monitor (VGA) and work , but when I tried to reinstall Windows gave me a blue screen and reset . I initially thought it display (LCD ) broke and I want to buy one , but now I'm not sure if it's GPU video card or LCD screen . If is videocard damage , can you tell me if I could order a motherboard directly from HP and a link from where I can buy . Thank you.
AMD video drivers not working after win 10 install. running on microsoft basic driver, call hp smartfriend assistance. appearently there is a fix but hp will not help unless i pay 100.00$ US because the warranty has expired on my notebook.
Have a pavilion dv7 was running AMD Mobility Radeon HD5000 series. Thank you hp will not be purchasing an hp product again. Alienware here i come.
I'm running a windows 10 Pro 64 bit clean install from iso (activated). My webcam is not working have run windows update several times for a few days now with no fix. When opening skype or camera app all I get is a message saying "something went wrong." Tried downloading driver/software from hp.com for windows 8.1, it installed cyberlink camera app but webcam still did not work?
Further, tried device manager: Neither HP webcam or imaging device appear on the list?
Some help would be great.

I have a DV6-3143us that I tried upgrading to Windows 10. The upgrade was smooth until I tried to play video games using Direct X or OpenGL (Counter Strike and Counter-Strike source)
I noticed that MS installed its own driver for the AMD HD5650 and the Intel card that comes in this machine, so I went to AMD.com and downloaded the latest driver set 15.7.1.
This installed without issue, however I am still unable to play my games. Direct X games have a black screen and sound, OpenGL games have a constant flicker of black lines across the screen.
I tried to install the old windows 7 driver from HP.com which is dated 9/2010 i believe, but it would not change the driver using the installer, so I forced it in Device Manager.
this allowed my games to run, however they are running at like 20-30fps. When on Windows 7 its more in the 80fps range.
I had this same issue in Windows 8, which is why I immedately downgraded back to Windows 7 until trying again with Windows 10.
Has anyone successfully upgraded this laptop to Windows 10 64-bit? And been able to play games at full speed?
I instaled windows 10 on my Laptop and am trying to run certain games that had 150 frame rate but for some reasion the frame rate is between 5 and 20 .
How do I change text colors?
Specifically, when I click on my C: drive, the directory listing shows file names in black which is fine, but the rest of the
information (date,type,size,etc) is in a virtually unreadable light blue.
I need to change this light blue to black.

help please should go back to win 7??!

I've rebooted from Windows 7 home basic (64-bit) to windows 7 maximum(64-bit) recently and got a problem with my nvidia 520m videocard. The problem is that i can't install latest driver version of it, i got error code 43 every time i tryed to do it. So i rebooted to Windows 8.1(64-bit) and got the same problem. What's intersting, that my pc install older version of driver itself and it works, inlike the latest one.
What can possibly be my trouble?
Just spent time with windows support but no solution yet.
After logging in laptop screen flashes between desktop and Blue screen - Windows 8.1.
This does not happen in Safe Mode
The windows support person was trying to get me to update drivers but all the install options on HP site don't work in Safe Mode.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10. After upgradation when i connected LCD projector it gave message driver not found. Earlier it was working properly with windows home basic 7. help
I qualified for free upgrade to Windows 10 and was then informed that the GeForce Go 6150
was not comaptible with Windows 10. Is anything being done to fix that?
problem with screen flashing continuously after upgrade to windows 10. unit was originally window 8 then upgraded to 8.1.
unit has done this since its initial upgrade start sequence.
