My daughter's ultrabook started producing smoke and the screen failed. Teardown revealed the screen cable at the left hinge had failed with the electrical short melting the cable screening. I have replaced the cable and the screen but all I get is a white screen on which I can only adjust the brightness.  The screen will black out temporarily as Windows loads. At that point, the HDMI output is activated and this still works fine so the notebook can be used with an external monitor which while useful is impractical.

 

I have tried a hard reset with no change. Of course it is possible that the replacement screen and/or screen cable are faulty but I have no means of testing these.

 

I would welcome any suggestions short of replacing the motherboard : for example is there a screen fuse on the motherboard or a physical reset button.

I have had very good support on my inbuild webcam on this computer. For some reason has this function stopped to work and it seams to me that the hardwhere is missing??? I have tried to download new softwhere but without any sucess, running on Windows Vista at the moment but thinking to install Windows 8.1 but not done yet. Can some one help me with ideas to solve this issue. I only have the USB web as alternative but this is not so good and handy to use.

I've unintalled flash player and adobe shockwave and re-installed it again but I am getting the same problem. Video is not working. I dont know what to do.

Hello, i'm having problem with playing games which i downloaded from windows store. Any game which is from win store is lagging and too slow. But that problem isn't there if i play any games on my desktop. My laptop has AMD HD 8670 1 GB graphics card, 4GB Ram, intel i5 proccessor. I updated the intel 4000 and amd 8670 graphics driver with latest version.

In addition to this when i uninstall or disable the amd driver from device manager then the problem related to store games is resolved and it works fine but obviously my dedicated video memory of 1GB becomes unusable. I tried with the old version of amd drivers but my issue persists. Please help me resolving this problem. Thank You

Hello,
I have problem with my two switchable graphic cards. My HDD have died and I had to install new clean system. I've installed every driver from your site, but my graphic cards just don't switch when needed, just the weaker one is working.

I even don't have the "Switchable cards" option in the Catalyst Center or rightclick menu on the desktop. Do I need to setup/allow card switching somwhere or install different driver?

Well, wondering if there may be a display bios update for this motherboard(M2N68-LA).

Went to the HP website but Vista will not support their troobleshooter, any ideas would

Our Pavilion 23b Monitor all of a sudden started shutting down by itself, We checked all cables and power supply and all is well, I uplugg powercord and plug back in an dit works again for like 15 mins then powers off.

Hi,

 

I reinstalled windows 7 (64 bit) on my Pavilion dv6 6169sl.

Then, I downloaded the video driver from the hp website and, when I restart the pc in order to complete the installation, it doesn't start, but the system stops showing the windows logo.

Can you suggest me a possible solution to this problem?

Hey! I've looked around and can't find anything on this problem. My computer performs well and has very few speed issues, but when playing games that rely on, say, DirectX11 for their rendering, I start to run into problems, primarily in the form of strange color issues. (The worst game for this is Space Engineers, where, in DX11, lighting can completely fail to render, objects may become filled in with pitch darkness, the skybox does not render, and other awful things happen at random)

 

Additionally, for what it's worth - and I actually have no idea what renderer it uses - Just Cause 2 crashes regularly.

 

I tried to update my graphics drivers, but every updater (at least, every updater that's trustworthy) either tells me my drivers are already up-to-date or that I need to go through some other updater (generally the HP one).

 

Graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Ideally I would like to hook up two Dell 2412M. Is this possible or do I need to look out for something specific when connecting the monitors?

I assume I can connect one monitor over the VGA connector and the other monitor over the DisplayPort connection, right?

Hello,

 

My name is Faizan, i am using hp envy spectre xt ultrabook from last three months now i am facing one problem.

 

one morning i left my laptop in room on charging when i came back at night i try to on it but it was not on, i try try again but it was not geting on. after 2 hours it on's, but after some time keyboard light begins dull and laptop switched off.

 

I tried alot to on it, i again put laptop on charging but fail.

 

Next day again lapto was not on, then i go to laptop repairer, he checked all the laptop and says its chargig chip is damaged.

 

is this ok to be changed the charging chip?

 

please help me

I've noticed my incident happening to a lot of other users aswell the hinge connecting the screen to the rest of the laptop just snapped many users say its due to poor design because there is one screw holding it together is there any way I can get this fixed

Help me please
I have a hp pavilion 15 n225se notebook with NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M and windows 8.1
After system reset using recovery manager can't open NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL, can't find nvidia graphics in Device manager. There have intel graphics only.
How to solve this problem..?

My laptop (HP Pavilion G6 Notebook) is showing a white screen only on booting up. But the system is working fine when it is connected to an external monitor.

I bought this lap top less than 6 months ago.

It is the HP special edition beats touch screen lap top.

After owning it for about two weeks a green horizonal thn line apeared on my screen.

I didn't drop it and the line wasn't really bothering me so I ignored it.

Then a couple of weeks later I took it on a trip with me, in a padded laptop backpack. I got another hoiontal line.

I am now up to five horizontal lines with a fiveish month old laptop.

It has now become annoying and gets in the way when I'm trying to read things on the laptop.

Is this a problem with the computer graphics or the screen?

What can I do?

i have bought new laptop everything is fine but when i compared diplay quality with dell laptop i found hp has very poor quality display with same resolution of laptop it doesnot seems to be FHD only in resolution you can see the number but quality wise very poor.

is there any solution so that i can replaced the display with high quality display. i am very much disappointed with display quality
