I have an nx6310 laptop running Windows 7. The cd/dvd player reads and plays cds. It will not play a dvd and if I try to burn a dvd it tells me that there is no dvd in the player. Do I need to replace the player? Or is there some other solution?

Thanks, Kem

Radeon switchable graphics issue and Beats audio fail

$

I have a hp pavilion dv7-6b78us Entertainment Notebook PC with a Radeon 6490M GPU. Intel Core i7 2630QM, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, bios version F.1C REV:  A

Issues; Video Card crashes, Audio affecting display.

i have done a clean instal of the latest drivers from hp support, however tonnes of issues!

1st, the card crashes alot when im designing in Autodesk Maya, Revit, 3Ds Max, Showcase just to mention a few. "display driver has stopped working and has recovered succesfully" and i have to restart the program each time :smileysad: ive had to change bios settings for graphics to 'Fixed' so that i use the intel HD which is most stable.

For gaming, most games i try to launch keep on mimimizing themselves and even when i restore, they do it again! i have to restart the PC for them to run, racing games are terrible since the road in the game will just disappear when driving and the car is just suspended on nothing.

i ran into the Leshcatlab dude when i tried to find a solution, but nothing got solved. Drivers from AMD are just worse. Since HP recommends we get drivers from their site, i went back. And i keep checking to see if they'll give us an update, but NO!

HP is too busy doing other things i suppose, i wish they let AMD do the driver support themselves since they always update, especially there's very poor HDMI support compared to AMD Radeon Cards. Switchable graphics is way poor. And i wonder, are these cards really tested ???

Then, i found a hint about something to do with audio that kind of affects display as i came to find out. What's the point of having beats audio if you cant use it ?

In order to play my racing games smoothly, i have to lower the volume waaaay down. Same goes for playing music since the moment the volume gets near 50% and above ( VLC media player, Winamp etc ) there's these annoying glitches until eventually a continuous annoying buzzing sound and i cant stop the playes or switch off the pc for the next two minutes or so; same glitches in movies at the scenes with intense action and louder sounds, the picture gets severely distorted. And it sucks! And i know its the PC audio since everything is fine with headphones.

i have no time to follow up on warranty since i live in Kenya, Africa and the guys who deal with the procedure dont seem to really understand anything and i had to wait for a month when they took my previous PC about a year ago, and i have school projects

So tell me, whats wrong with my PC ? i still beleive in hp.

Immense drop in Frame Rate-games

I am using HP Pavilion 15 e-020TX bought 3 months ago running Windows 8.1 64-bit. I played games like Arkham City and Far Cry without any hindrances but some days ago all my games started lagging. The frame rate drops so much that it renders the games unplayable. There were no changes done to the system by me. I noticed the temperature readings are in the normal zones and the cooling fan also runs in its usual manner. Now even online games like League of Legends have started lagging due to reduced frame rate which was 4fps. Could you help me out?

Blank laptop screen + HDMI not working + external on VGA only

Okey so lets began from the top :

This started after (stupidly) I updated my ATI driver without uninstalling the pervious one. At first the laptop display + vga external output ran fine, but then they started to flicker (white lines for a few millisec). Then the Laptop display disappeared completely.

The laptop's internal screen is not working and is completely blank. It is not being recognized by the laptop itself (i.e in Resolution the default monitor is external display) also dxdiag doesn't recognize laptop internal display. HDMI output is also not working. When connected, the screen waits for a second but it displays no signal.
VGA output is working and I am able to boot the computer directly to that screen.

When I ran the laptop with ati driver for the gfx card (Mobility Radeon HD 6230), Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) greeted me. I ran the PC in soft mode, uninstalled the driver (using driver fusion software) and restarted...(The reason I mentioned the driver fusion software is because, otherwise when I tried to uninstall using Ati catalyst, it gave me a " failed to load detection driver error".)

Anyways, now after removing it via driverfusion software, it allowed me to boot normally into windows. But then I tried to install again ATI driver and the cycle started. ATI driver install>BSoD on windows bootup> restart and boot into safe> remove all driver>boot into normal window> ATI driver install> BSoD.......

So now I am confused as hell, is the laptop screen Dead? if yes, then why is the HDMI not working either?
Is it an inverter issue?is it GPU re balling? is it a ghost of my old laptop ?

I really need to use this laptop, since it has very important licesnced softwares installed.
I will be immensely grateful to anyone who can help me out in this regard or give me any sort of idea.

Also since I am an engineer I am willing to open this up and figure this out.

HP ProBook 4520s LCD Display problem.

So, I've got quite a unusual problem, yet maybe somebody can help.

I've bought an HP ProBook 4520s three years ago and for the last two years it has been doing some strange flickerings, but not all the time! I mean it has times when it just flickers for up to 5 minutes and it's okay, and times when it won't stop at all, only if I shut down the laptop and wait around 10-15 minutes... The flickerings are only in graphic mode, even at boot when it shows the HP logo but when in text [DOS] mode, it's fine, does not show any flickering. I've tried external display, the display worked perfectly while my laptop LCD was madly shaking [flickering], also it tends to not flicker while it dimms the image when I press the shut down button. It's quite strange, now for example, it works absolutly fine!

Can anyone suggest anything?

P.S. : I'm running windows 7 ultimate x64

Error 19 message on CD/DVD

Hi,
A month ago I tried to play a DVD on my laptop and received the following error message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

My OS is windows 7.Product name: HP G72 Notebook PC

I have tried restarting my pc, and  updating my driver. I saw your post about uninstalling the device and reinstalling device...that scares me :0 .  not sure how to reinstall.
I do use an external HD, Toshiba USB 3.0 and have used it for a while, not sure if that is the cause. Honestly, I do not use the DVD /CD player very much, so not really sure how long this is ago this issue started, and I am not sure if the external HD is the cause. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks,

HDX 16 - display only works on dimmest setting

HI all...so today I was using my HDX16-1380ED as usual, went to a meeting with the laptop and when I got back to the office I plugged in the power cable and saw that it had around 40% battery left and that it was charging. I went to get some stuff out of my bag and when I looked at the screen, it was blank.

I tried closing/opening the lid to no avail. I also put it to sleep and when I opened it, I saw the desktop for a second or two and then it disappeared again. I connected the laptop to an external monitor and I could use the laptop normally...this indicates that the video/graphics card is fine.

So far the only way I got it working is by lowering the screen brightness to the lowest possible setting and then switching to the laptop screen; it turns on (although it is quite dark/dim) but as soon as I try to increase the brightness it goes blank again.

What do you guys think is wrong? I've read that when the display doesn't function well, then either the screen, cable or invertor are the most likely culprits, although there could also be a motherboard issue. I also changed the battery just a few months ago...do you think it could be part of the problem somehow? Do you think that perhaps something might have 'moved' while I was going from the meeting to the office? (btw the journey wasn't long...I only needed to walk down a flight of stairs and across a corridor basically, so I carried the laptop while it was still on while I was walking - something which I've often done in the past with no problem, obviously taking care to not jiggle the laptop around too much).

Thanks in advance.

Other information:

  • Laptop purchased in September 2009
  • The screen is Full HD (in fact it is always set to 1920 x 1080 resolution) - not sure if dual or single lamp but I believe FHD screens had two lamps (correct me if I'm wrong).
  • OS: Win Vista 64-bit
  • Battery recently replaced (12-cell instead of the original 6-cell, which basically died)
  • Everything else is functioning normally, although in the last few weeks I've been having occasional problems with Wi-Fi (I'd be using the internet and suddenly all network connections are lost; after restarting, the HP Wireless Assistant only shows I have Bluetooth (WLAN is undetected)...switching the laptop off for a few minutes and then starting again seems to cure the problem. It is currently working fine (touch wood) but do you think this issue could also be related to the display somehow?

[UPDATE] - I tried letting the screen on the lowest brightness as indicated above for a few minutes, and lo and behold after about 10 minutes or so it suddenly lighted up a-bit (back to normal illumination when on lowest brightness); I then tried increasing the brightness to 100% and it didn't go blank. However after 5 minutes it went off again. So I repeated the procedure and has been on full brightness for quite some time now. I don't think it'll last for long - the problem will probably crop up again - but at least the lamps seem ok.

HP 2000-2d03SQ video card problem

I bought a HP 2000-2d03SQ. The laptop has an integrated video card. I want to use the dedicated AMD of 1GB. Shouldn't to be an option in BIOS to be able to disable the integrated one? When i tried to install the driver for the AMD card the auto-detection software said there is no such hardware. I'm kinda worried.

Hello,

I think I posted earlier today and would very much like someone to help me.

Have had my HP DV7-3065dx for a couple of months.

Got it used and upgraded to 8 GB Ram.

Runs great in all regards except just now I can not watch Blu-Ray DVDs.

I have been able to watch Blu-Ray DVDs all along until a few days ago.

Now it would not play any of the Blu-Ray DVDs that it played before.

It will however, play regular DVDs.

Everything appears to work but this issue.

I have windows 7 , 64 bit, 2.4 ghz

Have cleaned the optical lenses but did not help.

Have run all HP downloads and everything says GOOD!

All driver downloads should be current.

Have heard about this problem quite a bit after reviewing threads today with other systems.

Please help me out.

Thank you,

mike

Screen turning black after playing games.

I play this game called League of legends. During a match in the game, my screen will just go black, yet i can still hear the sounds going on. Only way to fix it is to restart the laptop or close the screen and wait for it to go into sleep mode automatically. Iv contacted RIOT(the game company) and they did some tests, and sent some files for the game, and they can confirm is not the game, its something to do with this computer.

Theses are the last two messages sent to me from them.

"

Sadly, my warranty ran out on the 18th of this mouth. a Little inconvenient.

Any advice on what to do? or can you confirm is the graphics card?

HDMI Out Failure After Win8 Update on Pavilion DV6Z-3000

Hi all --

Just updated to Windows 8, and can't get the laptop to detect the HDMI output to my monitor.  I never had any issues before the update, and now it will not even detect the second monitor.  Any thoughts?

PS -- I am generally good with computers, so I've tried the fn-f5 and winkey-p's, and reinstalled the drivers from both the HP site and the AMD site.  Has anyone else experienced such an issue?  I do have a new HDMI cable, and will try a different one, but haven't ever had a bad cable cause this issue.

Also, when I plug in the HDMI cable the video card switches to High Performance mode, so I know it's recognizing it beneath the surface.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts.  Cheers.

Darren
