How can I resize windows/text in a Java environment? The Java app runs a real-time terminal for financial information (share prices, trade information, news feed etc) which is constantly updating. The windows in the terminal, and hence the text they contain, are too small for comfortable reading on my Pavilion. (The magnifier applet works but is cumbersome to use.)
I can resize windows and text in all other diplays (desktop, browser windows etc) in the conventional way by pinching in/out on the trackpad or using the 'make text and other items larger or smaller' function in the control panel. However, these methods do not work with the windows in the Java application, in contrast to the advertisement display panel on one side, which resizes without problem.
I also run the terminal on a Dell PC (win xp) with a 24" monitor; the monitor was bought very recently, and because of its greater size allows more windows (approx 10, compared to approx 6 before) to be opened in the Java app. On the 24" display the windows/text are large enough to read comfortably. The display of the terminal on the laptop used to be fine, and has only become smaller since using the PC's larger monitor (with more windows open in the Java app), which suggests some kind of dynamic adjustment (though this is speculation on my part). I would revert to the PC (and the larger monitor) for the display, but as it's 8 years old and running winxp, it's slow compared to the Pavilion.
I have contacted the financial information website concerned for support, and will try Oracle, too, but would welcome suggestions from the hp community.
