After installing a Windows Update for the Macedonian euro symbol and rebooting (coincidence I assume as I have done a system restore to undo it) my G72 laptop sees the screen as a generic PnP model and can only use a resolution of 1024x768 or less which is then stretched sideways as this is a widescreen screen.
I have updated drivers, downloaded the HP drivers and installed them, but no change.
Running Win 8.1 64bit.
Any ideas?

When turning on the laptop, the screen changes colors (red, green, gray, blue, etc) before coming on. It took almost 25 minutes for it to stop and then finally get the sign on screen.
What could be the problem? The laptop is about 3 years old.
If it need to be repaired, where would i go (Staples? BestBuy?)
Is it something I could fix myself?

When i connect my hp dv6000 to my tv via the rgb cable, it will show on the tv screen for about 10 seconds, then blue screen saying no signal, then eventually the tv just shuts off. My computer screen is cracked so thats why i plug into the tv. it worked for a night no big deal but the next night did not. tried restarting both, disconnecting, everything. Any Ideas?
i recently installed windows 8.1 on my compaq 6910p and i am unable to adjust the screen resolution. the image does not fill the screen. ther is about an inch wide black space on left and right of screen. can anyone help please?
I've just put up with it until now, but today something made me wonder if I could turn off this 'feature'.
Ever since I got this windows 7 computer, when I go to turn it off or hibernate it, the screen immediately goes black. Is there a way to leave the screen on until it turns off so I can see what it's doing? My old XP computer left the screen on until it was ready to turn off, so it's annoying that the newer computer won't even let me see if anything's going wrong. It kind of feels like it's slamming a door in my face.
When I use skype, the webcam truevision works for only like a minute when using enough of the light source round me. After that minute is up te screen fades to darkness and I cant see anything. How can I fix this so that it just stays steady?
Can i add 2gb graphic card to this note book ?
if i do it then any problem to my laptop ?
My HP Envy has only one output -- HDMI
It connects fine with the smart tv I have (Sony)
But when I connect it to my Dell external monitor, there is no recognition.
Dell monitor I have has three input ports -- DVI, VGA and diplay port.
I am connecting through HDMI-Display port Chord. The chord has been tested and it is working fine. I am not sure why it does not work with my HP Envy.
When I go to display options - multiple display: The only external monitor it recognizes is "Intel WiDi".
I am not sure what to do?

We have a HP Windows 7 pavilion dv7. It was able to play blu ray discs up until 3 yrs ago. ( had sence brand new) The hard drive crashed on it. So we took it to the docs to fix; ever sence then blu ray player never worked. Dont even think it had all the right parts in it. Weve done all the necessary things to get it to work. Alwayas found a dead end. What can we do?
A few days ago i noticed my screen would freez, now it wont boot properly . I have been able to boot it into safe mode with netorking and have done a sytems recovery and have run all the diognostic tools and according to "it" i should boot but it doesnt. while in safe mode i have tried to open a few programs but some have told me to update my graphics card. Knowing that i cant go into windows update in safe mode i decided to go into my ATI CCC and thats when i got the message that either the driver is not installed or that it is not functioning properly. Ive gone to the ATI website to try and download and install the driver but then i get another message saying that windows installer can not run while in safe mode. I have looked for a way to try and fix this but only get results for if you have a blac/blue screen and other video related problems and noting for what i am going through. So finally i come to the forums in search of help and a way to fix this .

why is my background on my hp g60-630us notebook blinking? When I start my computer the background starts blinking so the cursor starts blinking and you cannot type when your cursor is blinking ! I tried to clean up my computer did disc scan and fixed the problems but it is still blinking? Any clues ?
I have a huge problem with my HP laptop, My computer screen will not turn on at all. The fan, and lights for Caps lock, f12, power button and charger led light all turn on. My screen won't. I even tried to connect it to a flat screen via HDMI, and I tried to connect it to a computer monitor... still wouldn't turn on. I just remembered about the part that connects the screen to the harddrive/keyboard is kind of broken.. When i open my screen too much those (I dont know what their called, so please co-operate with me) connecters? seems to pop up. and i no longer see the film that connects the screen to the bottom... anymore lol Do i need to pay for my laptop to get fixed? Or should I just get a new laptop? My warranty expired 08/2013 But ive only had my laptop from 09/2012-03/2013. Odd how I can be careless.. anyways thanks I tried to include as much info as i could.
My dv7 laptop works, for the most part, completelly fine. Granted I have sent it in for repairs multiple times....and honestly don't doubt I will need to again.
The main concern with it is this dreaded dedicated graphics card. The Radeon HD 7690M XT graphics card is pretty much the entire reason I bought this computer to begin with. So I can play games on my computer. At first, it was great and I was playing games on the highest quality without issue.
Now, I am unable to play the same games on the lowest quality without considerable lag and very unenjoyable experience. The Intel Graphics card does a better job at running games! This is outrageously frustrating, as this is the main reason the computer was bought in the first place!
I know that there is an issue with updating the driver, and I'm convinced that is the reason I can't play the same games I could when I bought the computer with the same performance. I have factory restored my computer and even stripped it to only essential programs to run, so that isn't the issue. IT IS THAT I AM UNABLE TO GET A DRIVER.
I know other people are having the same exact issue as I am. But, I can't find ANYWHERE that someone has found a way around the fact that HP won't provide official updated graphics drivers. AMD is releasing version 14 and HP is still only providing version!? Whiskey tango foxtrot, Batman!
Can ANYONE give me a helping hand? I'd like to at least play my daggon Skyrim on low quality without dizzying lag.

I am trying to upgrade my screen panel from HD to HD+ resolution. According to HP technical support this schould be possible by just replacing the panel. So I ordered a replacement in the higher resolution and it does not work. Backlight is on, but no picture shown. The replacement is a N140FGE-LA2. it replaces an N140BGE-LA3. Both are from Chimei Innolux.
Of course the higher resolution HD+ panel requires a 2 channel 6 bit LVDS, while the HD panel is 1 channel. So I need a cable that has all pins 40 pins connected. I also checked the display cable I have already in my machine and it seems that it is not fully connected.
With the previous model the 9470m there were two separate cables in the antenna kit for the different resulutions (part number 702876-001). The antenna kit for the 9480m does not mention this. Also HP technical support told me that the cable I have should work, but I have my doubts now.
Does anybody know where to get a suitable cable. This cable actually combines the display signals and the webcam connection. The following information would help me.
- What part number of HP would contain the spare part cable for the HD+ panel in the 9480m?
- Can I use the HD+ cable of the antenna kit from the 9470m also in the 9480m? They look very similar.
- Is there any aftermarket possibility to get to the right cable? Any part number for that would be great.
Also Interesting:
- What is the actually manufacturer and model of the panel used in the 9480m HD+ model? If somebody who has that a HD+ 9480m could have a look inside, this would be great information to double-check if the replacement panel type is actually ok.

I recently updated Catalyst control center to the version 14.11.2 Beta to solve crashing problem with Dragon Age 3. However, since then I cannot manually switch between graphic cards, the option simply dissappeared in this version. Am I missing anything or the option is really no longer there?

I have a low FPS problem and i don't know if its a bad laptop or a settings problem.
When a play the game starcraft 2 i get 5 up to 20 fps, on my old laptop i got 60+
i disable power saving and set it up to high preformance.
I hope you could tell me wat i can do.

I am having problems with configuirng displays.
I have tried 2 different laptops folio 9470m and the newer elitebook 840.
(prefribley would like to use the older 9470m)
Basicaly when the laptop is docked I have 2 1080p screens connected 1 via DP and one via VGA. (may changed to DP->DP and DP->HDMI if possible.)
When in screen resolution i can get all 3 screens to work at there native resolution (laptop screen is something like 1600).
I would really like to set one of the 1080p screens as my main screens and the other 1080p screen to dulicate the main screen leaving the laptop screen as a second screen extending the desktop.
For some reason it works fine displaying across all 3 screens but when trying to mirror the 2 x 1080p screens i get the message unable to save display settings.
Surely i must be able to do this since the option is not grayed out and it works fine accross 3 screens?
If anyone can help this would be greatly appricated!
