i just bought this pc it was an open box purchase, when i view white web pages the colors and white balance looks good, however when i view a dark page or play a game with dark backgrounds the screen looks washed out like you have tipped the lid down and are looking at the screen from the top down at an angle. i have done the recomended updates, calibrated the display using the pre installed tool, tried using the screen brightness using f2 and f3, nothing seems to work,  i think i know why it was returned to the store, and at this moment i am inclined to do the same thing unless this is a real simple fix, or a setting that i cannot find. i know next to nothing about win8 so that might be part of the problem. any help would be great.

Hi there I have a HP notebook 14-z002a, the other night i put down the lid after using it, opened it the next morning and it isn't responding (no sound of the computer trying to turn on, no visual on the monitor). The power button light is on and th caps lock button flashes every 5 seconds. I have tried unplugging it from the wall i have plugged it into the power outlet over night and still nothing. Ive read online about taking out the battery and putting it back in however the battery on my product is within the casing and im too afraid to open it up in case i do more damage.

 

Any pointers would be brilliant!

New to computer fixing, I admit. 

 

My laptop screen is not functioning - it is grayish in color.

- My backlit appears to work - I can brighten and darken the "grayness".

- I tried replacing the inverter - no change. (~$2)

- I bought a new LCD and installed with the new inverter - no fix. (~$50)

- I can hook up to an external monitor to use the laptop successfully.

- When I shine a flashlight, I see no "dimmed" picture at all.

 

Ideas? Thank you so much for your consideration.

Please help.

I have a HP Envy notebook and it has two Display Ports (right next to each other) and one HDMI port and a Radeon Graphics card.

I bought two ViewSonic VA2455Sm monitors that each have one VGA port and one DVI-D port.

I thought that I could simply plug the left monitors DVI-D port to the left display port on the HP computer and plug the right monitors DVI-D port to the right display port on the HP computer and then go into control panel and identify each monitor and drag and drop them where they should be, but it did not work.

No go. Only one display will show up at a time.

I have tested both monitors and they work fine. If I have both monitors plugged in at the same time only one monitor will work.

I have tried to plug one monitor into the display port and the other monitor into the HDMI port but that did not work either and it is the same problem... only one monitor will only display at a time regardless of what port it is plugged into.

I could tell that when the monitors are plugged in the computer each is electronically detecting them because the computer makes a "bling bling "sound as the monitor is being plugged into the port and when the plug is being removed from the port so the plugs are all working.

If I unplug the left monitor the right will fire up.

The Control Panel will even show three monitors however I can only assign #1 and #2 and even thought # appears in the picture I cannot change anything.

I have made sure the graphics is set at 1920 X 1080.

Has anybody solve this issue?

I would think that it would be easy because the HP has two display ports so one would think that it can have two additional displays?!?!?!?

Is there any way that I can get my monitor extended on all three monitors? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you very much in advance

HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-n019nr Notebook

Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

Ram: 8 GB

Processor: i5 4200U CPU @ 1.6 GHz 2.30 GHz

Intel HD Graphics 4400

 

I have two, probably related problems.

1. The laptop's display is intermittently turning white while I am using it. Turning the laptop upside down, or a slight jolt corrects the problem for variable amounts of time. 
2. When an external monitor is connected via a HDMI cable, the monitor (external) blinks 1-2 times a minute. This has started about the same time as problem #1. I tried another HDMI cable, but it still occurs.

All drivers and the OS are up to date. I have searched for problem #1 and it suggests that a video connection may be at fault, but I am not sure about #1 and #2 together.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i have hp 15 d103tx laptop having strange issue with gpu.
laptop is having nvidia 820m gpu
whenever i starts any game for eg  far cry 3 i having 40 frames per second rate for only 20 second
and then it suddenly drop to 13 frames.
every game run smooth for 20 to 25 second and then it lag horribly and i am talking about all game that are played.

but when i changed nvidia setting to intel hd graphic the game run smooth at 28 frames per second for far cry 3 only.

while playing i have to press alt + tab to return into destop and agin press alt+tab to
return to game and it run smooth for 10 second and again lag horribly.
i dont know what issue i am having with gpu?

I own this laptop Dv7 6010ev for 4 years now. had no problems with it untill one month ago. many games suddenly couldnt see my ati 6770m with 1gb  and only saw the intel 3000 that also has (switchable graphics). before starting replying for drivers etc etc i would like to tell you i use computers from 1984 and i know this stuff.

 

my windows are fully updated, my drivers are omega drivers (latest driver) ,  and everything was working perfectly.

speedfun after this happened when i use the ati card gpu temp is zero 0, before this happens it was showing temps perfectly. when i use the intel 3000 it shows temp fine. tryied some older drivers with no luck.

 

i was searching for a used ati 6770m card in ebay and found some in differend colors. black for mac, green /blue for win. when i open my laptop i was surpised cause i couldnt find a slot with a pluged ati card. my heat sinks are on two chips . one soldered (small one) and one that you can take it out with turning a screw to unlock it and just pull it out.(bigger one).

 

i cleaned both chips replace it with new thermal paste. turn it on but no luck again. so my question is where is my ati card ? is it the chip soldered on my motherboard ? or it is the chip that you can take it out ?

 

 

posting a pic i found in the internet it like my motherboard. the red arrows shows where the heatsinks are connected. how can i replace my ati 6770m . is it solderd on the motherboard ? can i replace it with a better one ? any help ?

Whenever I plug in my charger the screen flickers constantly till the time I remove the charger.

I've been facing it from past 3 days earlier it was normal

I have had this machine for approximately 1 month.  Yesterday, the touch screen stopped working.  I have tried to restart several times and have looked for software solutions without success.  I looked at the device manager and found that one of the 12C HID Devices showed "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" .  Any information and or fix information would be greatly appreciated.

I recently puchased this new laptop, and I can't see videos on it.  There is simply a black screen and stuttering audio.  It also happens on YouTube; not just social media videos.  Please advise.

Lost my webcame video/image after upgrade to win 8.1 from win 8. When I tried to open cam aps or skype video webcame indicator light on but cam does not work.

Its really disgusting..

i bought my product about 3 years back,,,,recently battery stop to take charge and giving no back up at all,,,,,after some days now a new problem arise,,,and that is when i pull the screen to a 90 degree position or near 90 paraller horizontal line travelling the screen bottom to top,,,,so what's the prbolem? and what shoudl i do

Hello,

 

I have an issue with my webcam where in skype if I use the HP webcam option (shown in the picture below) there is a 25% chance of it actually turning on my webcam. But as you can see in the picture it does not. My webcam light will flash on briefly then immidiently turn off, leaving me with this loading screen.

 

Now if I use Cyber cam there's a chance of it failing to start and itll give me an error message. But when it actually starts it always detects my camera. Cyber cam takes forever to start, and even when I do click on it to start as i have it binded to my task bar, that doesnt mean that it actually will. So when it does fail it gives me this:

 

Cyber link seems to fail alot. Even when i boot up my computer it fails. I already use the hp update thing to update it. I just want to be able to use my webcam without problems. Other than that i dont have any other issues with the computer.  This issue is not only with skype, I had the option to use the camera on lock screen if you swipe up, but i disabled this option after my computer froze because it could nto detect the camera. I have already refreshed my computer for this, I have too many important softwares/documents to refresh again. Please help fix. I want the webcam to operate as a stand alone seeing how cyberlink is so fustrating because it never actually starts without crashing....
