I was working on a paper on my computer( a year and half old) when it abruptly shutdown without any error screen(BSOD). I turned it on after and the screen was lit with all lights on and blinking( wifi, hdd, cd). The wifi light was on but it wasn't white- indicative it hadn't boot into an OS yet( I am running dual OS- Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 8-primary). I was lucky for the screen to turn on to normal as I kept turning the power on and off repeatedly. I decided to boot into Ubuntu thinking the problem was from a driver issue on Windows. It was working normally about an hour and then I noticed a bizzare discoloration of the screen, a rapid blinking of the screen and finally the screen freezing entirely- I could move the mouse after this. At this point, (I was suspecting a graphics card defect not driver), so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on. The screen persistently stayed lit(Hp logo on the back was lit too) but with no visual display. I then connected the laptop to a secondary monitor using both HDMI and a VGA cable. The TV displayed no visuals from the computer in both instances. Lastly, the screen randomly turned on in my process of repeatedly powering off and powering on, but it appeared completely disclored and distorted. It was always in very low brightness. I continued to boot into windows 8 but just before the login screen I got a blue screen of death. The screen hasn't displayed visuals since( always stays lit at startup). I've never dropped this laptop before so I hope you guys could be of help because my warrantly recently expired.

Problem with switchable graphics on my pavilion g6
My laptop ( Pavilion G6 2014tx ) is giving problems with switchable graphics... My laptop has Radeon HD 7670M card.... When I try to switch to high performance mode for any game the game does not launch... either it crashes or gives a error.... Please help as soon as possible....

hp g4 dx not able to power on
My laptop has a problem in that when i press power button it shows blinking on the power button and caps lock once. The fan also rotates for few seconds and then everything goes off. It neither displays anything. What can be the problem? Please assist.

laptop screen appears blank after login
Hi All
I have a HP pavilion g6-2320TX and it's running on windows 8.1(64 bit) without any problem until recently.
It was intially windows 8 and i updated to WIN8.1 6months back.i havent encountered any problem.
I dont know what happened but when i opened my laptop after the login screen it gave me a black screen with mouse cursor.
I tried the force shutdown by removing the battery and logging in but no use.
The previous time I opened(that is before i encountered this problem) i installed 2 applications KMPlayer and secure360.
I uninstalled both by secure boot option and tried but it didnt work.
I dont even find the reason why that problem has encountered so please help me out by giving solutions for this.

hp tm2 215nr random display glitches, desktop
I tried putting win 8.1 on it that went nowhere fast as the ATI drivers crash out crash out win 8.1 , anyway with the default Intel drivers, never saw any glitches, after reformatting it and putting win7 on it and having all the drivers installed I get odd display glitches on the desktop.
The glitches are lines, bars or blocks of grabbled graphics like it took a picture of that area then garbled it up, and sometimes they are static snow.
I ran 3Dmark 06 in various loops from 30 minutes to a couple hours on a cooling pad and it never glitches out but I go to surf or arrange files and dose it every now and then, is this an issue with the LCD screen or what??

Faint but noticeable checker-board pattern on entire screen.
Just bought this notebook from Wally-World yesterday. The problem I am having is the entire screen surface is filled with these little faint greyed squares in an even pattern both vertically and horizontally. These little squares are evenly spaced and proportional with each other. Is it possible I am seeing the digitizer? If so, is this normal? Thank you for any help. I don't want to have to make the 20 mile drive back to the store where I bought it from. Again, thank you!

Screen Flickering - 15-4000ee HP Spectre Touchsmart
Hi,
The screen on my HP Spectre Touchsmart 15-4000ee has started to flicker - it comes and goes, but affects the whole screen and lasts for 5 to 10 seconds then disappears.
According to HP Support Assistant, my current video adaptor is Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (resolution 1920 x 1080; refresh rate 60), Version: 10.18.10.3621 (16/05/14).
Can you please advise what might be the problem. I found another driver on the HP website, however it is an older version than the one I currently have.

Black Screen
Hi - this is to do with a problem that I've already fixed, was just wondering about the aftermather, as it were.
Recently my screen went black when playing a video. After searching around for solutions, I came across a rather simple way of turning on the computer with all four arrow keys pressed and (God knows how). this solved the problem and the laptop seems to be running fine.
My question is: Is the screen going black a telltale sign of something I should be worried about in the future? I've had the laptop for a good few years now and have never had this problem at all before, so is it suggestive of something needing replacing?

Backlight problem, very weird
Hi!
I have a HP 6730s laptop, the screen had a vertical green line in it so I decided to switch the panel out. I actually had an extra display assembly from another machine(same type). I tried it out but the backlight was not working, the display itself was fine. I installed the CCFL tube from the first previously working panel and it still wasn't working... I tried every combination of the cable,inverter,ccfl tube, lcd panel, but the backlight wasn't working. The machine works on an external display. I had a Linux Mint install on the machine, I decided to start it up and as soon as I hit enter in grub to start it, the backlight comes on! It is working flawlessly under linux, even brightness control, but not in the bios or in windows. Anyone have any ideas I could try to fix this? I don't have the funds to get another machine, even second hand, and I need this one with windows for school work.
I tried:
unplug, take out battery, take out RTC battery, reset bios
reflash bios (would not let me flash a previous bios version, just the current one which is the latest)
The machine has an integrated Intel 4500MHD graphics adapter.
Summary: backlight won't work in bios/windows, works flawlessly in Linux Mint.

More and more frequently my dv7 2260ef Pavilion laptop screen is pixelating green in the black areas - a quick fix of bashing the screen sometimes resolves this - I need to fix this permanently and need to know
1. What is causing this to happen
2. What needs to be replaced/fixed
3. Can l do it myself
4. If so where do l access the parts in France, and
5. How much should it cost i)To have it fixed professionally ii)to replace the part
Last time this started to happen l took the computer to our local repairer and he told me to throw it in the bin and get another one NOT a HP.
