I have an HP DV4 Model #: 1444x.
Recently (out of know where) I started getting a 'Display Adaptors stopped working and has recovered').
I've tried all the updates, nothing took. It was a machine that I had sitting around and basically only using for movies and one single piece of software I use to synchronize music to christmas lights. So off loaded the files I needed and did a reinstall of the OS.
So here's some specs of the machine:
HP DV
Model: 1444x
Ram: 4GB
Product #: NU992UA#ABA
System Board: 30F7
Processor Type: Pentium Duel-Core T4200 @ 2.00 Ghz
Bios Version: F.42
Factory Installed: Vista
Current OS: Vista Home Premium (GENUINE AND REGISTERED)
As a side note: I am limited what I can do in the Bios for some reason.
It's using the Insyde H2o
So the Graphics Driver I attempted multiple times to install is:
Package 179977
Driver Revision: 15.17.19.64.2869
Graphics: 8.15.10.2869
Audio: 6.10.01.2089
Date: October 18, 2012
There are three ways to install the driver:
Automatic (The executable)
Manual Install (update drivers and point)
Have Disk (using the .inf file)
I have attempted all three methods repeatedly, and still got the same results.
I have removed the drivers (uninstalled and deleted from Device Manager) and even checked the Remove Programs area to make sure the interface was gone. And then I would go back to the Device Manager and in the "Other" area I saw the Standard VGA Adaptor, and started from there.
No matter what I do, I can not get this thing to install correctly and correct the issues.
I know that I am not the only one, but it appears as tho there isn't really any fixes that have been offered for this. So I figured I would just in and ask, and see if we can get mine resolved.
I've tried downloading the drivers for the machine from Windows Update, and installed and restarted. Same issue. Then I would remove those, and then download them from HP, (both the Mobile Intel(4) version and the Nvidia version) and got the same results. Then once again, uninstall and remove and then tried to download them from Intel. Still the same results.
When searching I came across this thread:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video-e-g-Windows-8/IGFX-Driver-stops-responding-on-dv4-laptop/td-p/96765
The person seems to refer to the Bios. And says the only correct bios for the DV4 is the F.30. And also states that "Google" says it's an AMD bios.
So here's a few things to mull over and see if I can get some help with this.
1.) Is the Insyde H2o - the correct bios for this machine?
2.) Is F.42 the correct version (if question #1 is yes)?
3.) Is this an AMD Bios?
4.) I've seen somewhere that Intel offered a 'generic' version of this driver that supposedly fixed the issue, but I can not for the life of me, find the 'generic' version of this driver. Anyone know?
5.) Anyone know of the drivers and the 'correct' way to install them? What I have done is apparently the correct way, but I must be missing something - or these are just the wrong drivers for it - period.
It's killing me, and I would like to get this machine back up and running, so I can get to work on the synchronizing stuff.
By the way - there's a couple of things I've noticed during all this
1.) No drivers installed but standard VGA - the machines seems to work, but limited, no connectivities, and such.
2.) When installing the drivers, at start up, there are 4 boxes that require a confirm for the security warning. Those boxes are related to the interface trying to fire up. And when you attempt to uncheck 'ask everytime' and click ok, by the 3rd box - that's where it craps out. Somewhere around GFUix.exe or something like that.
3.) Also, I was doing some researching before and it seems as tho the Mobile Intel(4) Chipset is compatible to DirectX 10. But places like youtube and such are using DirectX 11 (I believe)
I bought this thing from a 3rd party some time ago, and there's no hope for a warranty or anything, so I am kind of stuck on this. Like I said, it was fine and up and running for like 8 months - and then it started doing this.
I'm at my wits end, and I am pretty tech savvy and just about out of options to get this fixed.
Thanks for reading and hopefully we can get this resolved.
