Can the EliteBook 8570w on a 90w docking station support 3 monitors?

Igfxtray not loading

When I boot up, I get an error saying

IGFXTRAY.EXE unable to load

I have been able to get rid of that error before, but it keeps returning a week later.

I know it has something to do with the Intel Graphics drivers.

flickering displays OK in safe mode

My 5 year old HP Compaq CQ61-420US Notebook has flickering horizontal lines for apprx 10 min after startup then goes blank. Here is a list of things tried in troubleshooting to no avail. External 2nd display has same flickering, safe mode is OK on both displays. I have tried restoring to 6 weeks old restore point, reloading currently downloaded video driver. Some times after reboot it will work ok for a short time, at which time I have moved screen and pressed on top and keyboard to duplicate problem to no avail. If I leave it on touched for awhile it will start flickering and nothing seams to stop it. What else might I try … short a new laptop??

How do I:

1. Turn off the Backlight of this PC?  In the HP Envy, all I do is hit the backlight key (sixth key from the "esc" key) but on Omen it doesn't work?

2. How do I change the default red light to another color?

Built-in web cam on HP Envy Smartouch laptop not working

I have spent hours trying to get my built-in webcam to work. There is no image when I try to use Skype or to open it directly. It is currently saying "connect camera" if I just try to open the camera app. It used to be a HP TruVision camera and has now "switched" to say it's a spca2082 pc camera. I have tried updating the driver (says it's updated), updating all the software that might have anything to do with it (any Windows updates, adobe flashdrive, CyberLink youcam, Skype, etc.). I've searched this forum and tried recommendations like restarting the computer, doing a power reset, even did a system retore. After that it went briefly back to HP TruVision and showed a few seconds of image, but flickered back and forth between that and spca2082 (i.e., video to no video) until it just showed a black screen again. I am NOT techy and have maxed out anything I know how to do, nor can I find a solution online. Please help! I've got two kids away at school and Skype is our main way to stay in touch -- I need a working web cam!!

HP ENVY m6-1205dx Notebook PC display not working

Display not operating at any point. Laptop does work with an external monitor. Problem started with the "lid" breaking off the hinges. The laptop still worked but the lid would flop off at times. During this the screen went black at one point. I assumed the screen cable had been damaged so I replaced it. However the screen is still not working. I have fixed the hinges, and the only thing that looks like it was damaged was the black cable from the wifi came off the solder on the lid. Not sure why that woud keep the screen from working however. The screen is operational when I plug it into a seperate HP laptop, so it is not the issue. I have tried removing everything, detaching the battery, unpluging the lap top and holding down the power key for 15 seconds, as well as for 1 minute, with no luck. I have also installed the latest graphics driver. Any ideas?

To sum up:

HP ENVY m6-1205dx Notebook PC

Screen not working

Tried hard boot

hinges have been repaired

lcd screen cable replaced

black wifi cable not soldered to lid

screen works on another HP laptop

Connecting 3rd screen

Well hello everyone,

I've been trying for some time to connect a third screen to my computer. Currently I'm working on two screens. I'm using a HP pavillion g7 with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card. This graphics card should be able to handle 3 screens, which is why I've already requested support at intel. They confirmed a 3rd screen to be possible with their drive. However it may not be with the computer which is why I've been refered to this place.

So my question kind of is: is it possible to enable a 3rd screen (2nd using VGA and 3rd using HDMI) to my computer? And if yes, what do I need to do in order to enable it.

Many thanks for your time!

VGA Monitor will not connect to laptop (broken screen)

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Hewlett Packard Model: 2000 2a20ca Notebook

Oh my god please give me some insight here, it is so hard to find the right answers and I refuse to lose to this technical box that's driving me nuts! So here's the run down:

My screen broke on laptop...fine. It was connected via HDMI to TV and working fine. Until one day it decided to not turn on. I think due to Windows updates and hubby had no patience so kept restarting

I tried to reload Windows on it, not thinking about the drivers, and I'm pretty sure I managed to reload Windows. Now I need the drivers to install chipset, networking etc. (which I have a disc for)

The problem is I cannot see the screen in order to click "install" or "F8" for safe mode, I can't see the BIOS or the boot sequence. Ugh!

I have read the user guide for my model and have tried the fuction keys to change the monitor, and close the lid, didn't work. I searched for an image to actually see my BIOS screen so I could possibly navigate through it blindfolded but I cannot seem to get it into safe mode nor boot from disk.

I can HEAR Windows start up and turn on! Doo-DO-Doo-DO lol the darn thing is working. The monitor works in my other laptop.

I'm guessing my VGA port itself or card may have an issue, but I also do not have ANY of the drivers installed. Would VGA port still work without the chipset drivers etc.? And can anyone give my step by step instuctions (as if you were blind folded) to boot from disc? I would like to see, if I can get the Windows disc to startup, if the monitor works at that point. Any advice is appreciated.

docking station for two displays

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a way i can show two displays from my HP pavillian m6 - where both exterior monitors are extended (not duplicated) while the laptop is closed. The computer has a vga and hdmi port but I am unable to use both at the same time due to space constraints (i don't know why they would be so close together).

I had an hdmi splitter but this merely duplicates both screens rather than allows an extended  mode. So thats useless. THe point having multiple monitors is to extend your screen real-estate... amIright?

I am wondering if there is a dock for the computer that would allow this. Both monitors have hdmi ins - so i would prefer to use a digital display. I have heard mixed reviews on certain docks and whether or not they can do this.

Thanks,

Matt

Green or black screen when video played.

Whevever I try to play a video, whether from internet or stored media, the screen is either green or black. Audio works fine and control tool bar appears at bottom of screen as it should.  Everything was fine up until about a week ago when suddenly I couldn't view  videos after just watching one hours earlier.  When I called up Device Manager, it gave me nothing (far as I could tell) dealing with graphics drivers so I couldn't look for updates.  I've asked computer savvy friends and got shrugged shoulders.  HELP!!      Product # is j1j41ua#aba

Screen Rotation Not Responding on ENVY x360 Touchsmart 2-in-1

I just received this computer for Christmas and at first I had no problems with the screen. However, it's only been a few weeks and now the screen won't rotate when I try to use the computer as a tablet or when I put it in the tent set up. When I restart the computer, usually it works for a while, but as soon as the computer goes into stand-by, it will not rotate again when I wake it back up. What can I do to fix this?

Omen Touch Screen Defects

Hi All,

Currently my laptop work just fine but the only issue that I am having is the touch screen sometime have touching bubble appearing mainly in the mid section of the screen without anyone touching it.  I have tried reformating the laptop also using the USB recovery Drive that HP sent out.  None of these fix the issue and I am trying to get this resolve ASAP.  Wondering if anyone have the same issue.  Been contacting HP technical team from day one using the laptop and it been a month since.  All I am asked is send screen shot, send video shot and use recovery see if the issue fixed itself.  Hope someone can shed some light.

Cheers
