I put my HP g7 to sleep, bagged it, opened it from sleep mode with a start up green screen. In programs display is distorted with green and pink. Went thru HP Assistanct, Windows Update, battery out. Windows 8, IE.

Switchable Graphics/driver + other problems after Windows 8 update
Hi I have an HP Pavilion dv6-3134tx Entertainment Notebook PC with switchable graphics (ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics/Intel) - I think the ATI is Mobility Radeon 5000 series.
First Problem:
After updating to Windows 8 it said that the Catalyst Control Centre needed to be reinstalled and also my HDMI output stopped working, i am also unable to play any games as they slow down to less than a crawl, even at the menus.
I attempted to update the driver by uninstalling/removing every trace of ATI/AMD software (following this guide: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/4/4/guide-how-to-completely-uninstall-amd-graphics-drivers.aspx )

Under AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5470 / 5650 / 5850 / 6370M / 6550M I installed the first link for the HP drivers, then the Catalyst 12.10 reference driver.
Halfway through the install the screen went completely black (at the stage where it says installing new driver), I waited for it to come back on for a couple of hours (as it says down the bottom the screen might flicker or go black) but it didn't come back on so i shutdown the computor and had to do a system restore to get back to my desktop.
I also tried the Catalyst 13.8 Beta from the AMD website (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx) but the exact same thing happened. (also tried running the hp one in compatibility mode). I have tried quite a few times without success and the same thing happens each time.
What is the problem and is there any way to successfully install the drivers?
Second Problem:
Another problem I encountered a little while after installing Windows 8 (and I think after one of my attempts at updating the graphics driver) is that my laptop will just shut itself off when not plugged in.
The battery is usually low but not so low as to have the warnings of low battery and it used to go into hibernate mode rather than just stop going completely. when I plug it in and boot up after this happen 9 times out of 10 it either comes up with a black screen (like above when installing the graphics driver) and i have to keep shutting it off/rebooting until it comes up with the blue screen where i can do a system restore.
I am not sure if this is caused by my lack of switchable graphics/lack of proper graphics drivers problem. My laptop also gets very hot and when that happens buttons on the keyboard stop working ('h' and 'backspace' every time and a few others). I rececently did a refresh of my laptop to try and fix these problems but it doesnt seem to have helped.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cursor
I don't have a touch screen. When I use the finger mouse, side screens pop up, sometimes the screen zooms in or out, or the start screen pops up making me put the cursor over to the top right corner to restore whatever screen I was on. It's driving me batty! Can anyone help??

Compaq CQ61 screen comes on then turns off
When I power up my Compaq CQ61 the screen comes on as normal then turns off.
I am able to use the laptop using an external screen.

Gridlines on HP envy 17t jxxx
Hi,
I don't know if anyone faced this issue before. There are visible grid lines in my Envy 17 J029 screen . It's a FHD aniglare one. I tried swithing between Graphic board and changes screen resolution but they are still there. Anyone noticed this before?

AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series stopped workinng
Hi
I have a HP Pavillion dv6 6c66eo laptop pc, with a AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series graphics card. And i noticed that the driver had stopped working. it also gave me an error code (Error Code 43), tried updating driver, and can't really find anything on the internet that has a solution.
I tried installing Battlefield Bad Company 2, (To see if there was a difference) and it worked perfectly in main menu and things like that, but in-game i just get a black screen, an error message and a blue screen of death followed by a full system reboot.

Static on screen
So I own a HP pavillion m6 - 1012 tx and I've been using it for about a year. However, one night, I unknowingly left my laptop (on sleep ) next to a power outlet, and the next morning there were static lines on the screen. The static is small and evenly distributed across the whole screen and while the laptop is still usable, it is annoying. I have tried discharging the static ( removing battery, charger and holding power button for 1 minute ) but to no avail. So I'm wondering if there's a fix to this problem.

green, red sparkly screen lines
I have an HP pavilion g6 notebook - windows 7 - AMD dual core processor.
Last couple of days the screen has green and red sparkly lines also the background sparkles mainly red. Really annoying!! I have also noticed a red vertical broken line

laptop video memory shows 0
I am using HP Probook 4430s, core i5-2430M 2.40GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel HD 3000. Recently I faced a problem of crashed HDD. But after changing HDD, installing windows 8 Pro, Display propertied shows that system/dedicated(I can't remember) video memory is 0MB which was previously shown 64MB and shared video memory is 1632MB. and but my laptop is running good. will there be any problem with that? But I also noticed FIFA 13 is not running on my laptop after this new installation on my new HDD. I want to fix that. Please give me a solution. I am anxious that my processor video memory card is dead or not working somehow and thats why FIFA 13 is not running. I am giving a screen shot. Please tell me how can I fix this? My laptop was running very much good before crashing HDD.

Pink line on the top of my Pavilion g7-2111nr screen?
Today when I was playing league of legends on my laptop, I noticed there was a pink line across the top of my screen. I didn't really think much of it, just kinda thought that something happened in-game and made a pink line. But after I got off that game, I was just scrolling through facebook and noticed it was still there. I have searched all over the internet to find the exact reason for what is going on. And haven't really found much. I play games ALL THE TIME, so I didn't know if that was the reason. I have a Pavilion g7-2111nr, and it is still under warranty till sometime this upcoming month. I don't want to be without it for very long because there is nothing else that I really do. Kinda a nerd....with no life... But if anyone knows of a solution, then let me know how to fix it, please.

Fonts in Windows 8 apps on Split X2 are almost unreadable
For some reason Windows 8/Metro apps on the HP Split X2 look very strange and are almost unreadable. It appears that the font settings that usually control this in Windows only affect "Desktop" applications are having no effect on Metro.
See this example screenshot, the text with the date in the tweet is very hard to read as is the actual tweet. This same "fuzziness" is seen in all my Windows 8 apps, especially the Mail app where the list of subjects is even fuzzier.

HP 2000 touchpad
I have a HP 2000 notebook and have had nothing but trouble with the keyboard and touchpad. I have to type each letter so slowly or many letters come up missing. Is there a setting to adjust to my typing speed, and I'm a very slow two fingered typer. Also the touchpad drives me crazy when I touch the right side of the pad it constantly pops up the Charms.It happens to me 100s of times a day. I guess I had always drug my finger across the pad from the right on my old laptop. Is there a way to turn off this option?

External Monitor to Pavilion 15t
Hi. I just got a new Pavilion 15t that is running Windows 8. I was just wondering if I can hook up an external monitor to it. I found the option to "Project to a 2nd screen" under display settings, but it says the monitor has to be connected to my laptop. My laptop doesn't have a VGA port however. Is there a converter cable I can get for it?

HP envy Dv6 screen went black :(
Hello,
There wasn't a reboot or an update that came prior to this, I wasn't moving the laptop nor updating it, it was working fine and dandy, then all of the sudden the screen went BLACK!!
I restarted my laptop a thousand times but to no avail D:
Mind you the display works fine on an external monitor (TV screen) but it won't on the laptop itself
I tried switching between monitors but that didn't work neither :/
Please help me, I've just purchased this machine not 10 days ago ._.
