Hi,
I have a problem with my probook. When I connect it to HDMI or VGA, I have picture on both, TV and monitor. I dont have picture on my led panel. I have tried anonther led panel and its all the same. Panel only have backlite and as I change output via fn shortcuts, I can see that the backlite on panel stops when i change output to projector only. At the begining I had this problem when i start or restart my proobook. Then I just holded the power button to shutdown laptop. After that i get the picture and it works for a couple of days. Now i cant get picture at all. All that started when i updated my bios from f41 to f50.

AMD CCC / switchable graphics not working properly

Hi all,

ok first of all i read bunch of posts on this forums, and on most of them i saw only responds with links and to download and update drivers - and those things seems not to work for most of people. So i decided to write here a post where someone will actually fix this problem because it is common on most of HP laptops.

First of all, i bought my laptop in Qatar while i was on bussiness there.

Model: Pavilion dv6-6b20se

Product Number: A6N20EA#ABV

Graphics: Intel HD 3000 and AMD HD 6490

I bought this computer because im working as an architect and designer and sometimes i need it for rendering, and yea i would like to mention that part time i love to play games. So at that time (2 years ago) and for that money it was pretty decent laptop.

So i've never touched anything myself on laptop, i always let my HP Support Assisstant do the work it is on computer. To be honest i didnt even know that this option of Switchable graphics exist. Until yesterday when i put game to play and i got problem wherever i press ESC it closes came and it crashes.

I googled around and I saw that the problem apears when your graphic card is low.

Requirements for the game:

Minimum System Requirements

  • MinimumOS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
  • Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • Graphics: 256 MB (With Pixel Shader 3.0 support)
  • DirectX: DirectX 9.0 c compatible
  • Hard Drive: 15 GB
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
  • Supported Chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater, ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater.

Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, and 9300; ATI Radeon HD3200 and HD 4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to the video and sound card drivers may also be required.

Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
  • Processor: 2.6+ GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, or better
  • DirectX: DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
  • Hard Drive: 15 GB
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible

So by looks of specs here and specs of my computer and the game is like 4 years old, it should fly on my computer.

I googled a bit more and i saw that every program reads only Intel HD graphic card and not AMD. Ok so i went and checked tutorilas on youtube how to switch it and there is where my suprise was. When i open CCC as per everyone on internet i dont have Switchable Graphic option - only Power Play. So i read on your website that some computers need to be set in BIOS from Dynamic which was my original setting to FIXED. I did that to but my option when i right click on desktop for switchable graphics disaper and my CCC is not working.

Ok so i went to your website again, was looking for original drivers for my computer. And there are 3 drivers.

1.AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver

Ok so when i download them, i can install only No.1, other two i get message that i dont have minimum requirements.
so i checked those to, and it says that  you need to have windows 7 which i have since i got this laptop with original licensed product.

The thing is when i install new version of AMD driver and CCC i get switchable graphics option when i right-click on desktop, but when i get in in CCC i get defoult page and there is no option to switch. When i update intel graphics i loose switching. Either way, it wont work, and im stuck with crappy card that i cant use on bunch of programs and games that i need it for.

So please for once give us a bit detailed answer on how we can fix this. Because it is not only me that have this problem, alot of people are having them and they still cant fix this.

Sorry for my lenghty post, but i thought i needed to explain in more debth.

Thanks in front for reading and takning time to answer.

HP dv7 4165dx laptop monitor not working and changing colors

I droped my HP dv7-4165dx laptop quite awhile ago. It has a little damage in the top left corner by the bracket that hold the monitor to the keyboard section of the laptop. I just wanted to say that first just in case it may matter.

I have really had no issues with the machine. I was about to watch a movie and adjusted the screen to be eye level so it would be more clear when the images shut off and the screen started changing colors from green to pink, to blue, to grey, and one screen that is grey with verticle stripes. I can't figure out what is wrong.

What I have done so far: I used an HDMI cable and plugged it in to an external monitor, my TV (Note: I have done this many times to watch movies and once plugged in it displays on my tv right away). This time nothing came up. I tried using the"fn" key and he f4 monitor key, still nothing.

I have opened the back up and pulled out the ram and reset it, nothing.

Booted the computer and hit f10 a number of times, nothin. If I wait a moment and hit f10 i get a beep in return.

One last note, when I boot up the machine it all sounds normal. The fans are on and the starting up of the cd drive sounds the same.

Not sure what my problem is. Please help

HDMI ISSUE

I have an M7-J010dx i7 HP laptop runing Win8.1 with all updates installed.  I do volunteer work that requires I give presentations.  I am experiencing compatibility issues with the HDMI port on my laptop and projectors made by Digital Galaxy.  Specifically their Dreamland DG-737L model.  If I use an adater to covert my HDMI output to the old 15 pin input and connect that way, the projector works, but of coarse, I loose the sound support the projector has which I need.  This occurs with either Powerpoint presentations or video materials.

When I connect the 4ft long HDMI cable from the projector to my laptop, it turns off my laptop sreen and locks the system regardless of the starting settings on either the projector or my laptop.  Unplugging the HDMI cable allows my laptop screen to return to normal.

When I tried an available Dell laptop on the same connection, it connected and worked normal and played the video and sound.  My HDMI port works on other HDMI connections or with the converter but will not work when connecting via HDMI to the Digital Galaxy projector.

Any Suggestions????

Webcam no longer working

Hello,

I don't know whether anyone will be able to help me, but thought I'd give this a shot anyway!

My laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ57, and has been working fine up until this last week.

I've been having problems with my webcam - it has stopped working completely.

I've looked under 'device manager' to try to fix it, but it no longer appears there. When I search for webcam, it doesn't come up anywhere, and I have no idea what to do. If I try to use Skype etc, I keep being told that my webcam cannot be detected.

I'm finding this absolutely infuriating as it seems to have suddenly completely disappeared.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance!

Can't download driver from HP website

Hello,

I'm trying to download a driver for one of my user's notebooks, however the HP support/driver download page for that device isn't loading. The device I'm working with is an HP Pavilion 11-h013dx x2 PC. Click link to access device page. The page is having issues loading, tested from numerous devices in multiple locations.

Here is a video of me trying to load the web page: http://screencast.com/t/trarIJqN

I tried downloading the drivers from my desktop and let the page load for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes of loading I was brought to a page that asked for the OS on the device. Again, that page was having issues as well... No content would load after I selected my OS. Here is a video of me trying to select the proper OS after the page finally loaded: http://screencast.com/t/9dTL4zkMtK

Any advice/help/2cents would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just that HP's driver pages are sometimes inaccessible...

Thanks much!

Major issue! GPU busted! Need help urgently!

I bought this HP pavilion g6 2230tx  model around 1.5 years back and since then i have experienced quite a lot of problems with it like hdd crash, heatsink failure, motherboard failure. I'd sent it a lot of times for repair and a lot of my money has already been wasted on it.

Recently, after working fine for about 1 month a new problem took place. Its GPU busted! i dont how, but all of a sudden this dreaded TDR error started coming ("AMD display driver stopped responding and has been recovered"). I tried to sort out this issue in every possible way (trying older driver/ reinstalling OS/ flashing BIOS) but no help. Even the work around by microsoft isn't working! I'm sure that it's GPU is busted.

Now what i need to know is what can i do now? Is this even reapairable? Can i replace the GPU? If yes what'll be the cost?

Please reply!!!

No sound laptop to tv via HDMI (2 pc's affected)

Ok so I have been having this problem for about 2 weeks and have had numerous attempts, even had some technical support from Geeksquad via remote access and they cannot understand what is happening either.

So I purchased a brand new HP pavilion laptop with an AMD A10 with dual graphics (dedicated Radeon 8670) 2 weeks ago, attempted to hook it up via HDMI to my tv, I got picture but no sound coming from my tv.. so as to be expected I googled up a solution and the results seemed to be the same on a multiple of occasions - basically to go into sound settings and set the TV as default device, tried this and there's no sound still coming from the tv.

When I click configure there's no stereo option, and when I click test sound there's an error message "failed to play test tone"

I got really frustrated with this, and decided to seek help from geek squad the operator I spoke to re-installed all my drivers  and originally thought there was a conflict between the graphics cards, after around 5 hours of troubleshooting the operator came to the conclusion that my sound chip was defective and that I should return my laptop to the store which I did today.

So I have swapped that laptop and now have a HP Pavilion with AMD A8 processor and radeon 8510 graphics card and THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING! It's so frustrating now I'm thinking that it's a problem with AMD processors or graphics cards but then I tried my girlfriends laptop which has both an AMD processor and graphics card (compaq prescario) the sound works perfect on the tv, when I click configure audio stereo appears and if I click for a test tone it works also..

Both new HP pavilion laptops have windows 8.1

This has not been easy to deal with and to be honest i'm at my whits end.

please help me!
