Switchable graphics issues
Laptop model: dv6-6077er
BIOS: F.1B (the latest one, released in 2011)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 + all updates + all the latest drivers + the latest DirectX
Graphics cards IDs:
Intel HD 3000 - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_1657103C&REV_09
1 GB Radeon HD 6770M - PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_1657103C&REV_00
Max CPU/GPU temperatures: ~70°C
Graphics drivers versions:
Intel card - any version, the oldest one I tested was 8.15.10.2476, the newest one - 9.17.10.3517
Radeon card - any version from 13.2 to 14.9
So, the issues:
1) The last graphics drivers package from HP contains Catalyst 11.9 driver (Radeon) and 8.15.10.2476 driver (Intel) and was released in 2011.
And I can't update my graphics drivers, because when I install any standalone Intel HD Graphics drivers (already having the HP graphics drivers package installed), it makes impossible to switch between graphics cards and forces me to use only Intel card, and when I install any standalone AMD drivers (versions from 13.2 to 13.11; I'm forced to install them having the HP graphics drivers package installed, because otherwise AMD standalone drivers won't work), I'm getting a BSOD 0x1000007e (caused either by dxgkrnl.sys or by igdkmd64.sys) all the time.
To get the BSOD, you should do the following:
- Play some game, which requires a lot of CPU/GPU resources, for example, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, using a Radeon card, then exit a game, switch from Radeon to Intel card, and then switch back to Radeon card. You'll get the BSOD immediately.
- Simply restart or turn on a laptop. But to get it for sure, you should play some game, which requires a lot of CPU/GPU resources, for example, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, using a Radeon card, then exit a game and restart/turn off a laptop. You'll get the BSOD when Windows tries to load, before Windows desktop appearing.
To install any Catalyst from 13.12 to 14.9, I'm forced to uninstall HP graphics drivers first, and install any standalone Intel graphics driver. But then another problem appears - there is no switchable graphics menu in Catalyst, because all Catalysts, starting from 13.11beta, support only dynamic switching mode, which is unsupported by my laptop, thus I'm forced to use only Intel card.
I tried to clean my registry, I checked my HDD for errors - everything is clean.
I asked AMD Support for help, but they said it's HP which should update their laptops' drivers, and that AMD can't create a driver for all the laptops which use AMD graphics cards. They only can create some "generic" drivers, but those drivers in fact don't work on my laptop properly (either causing BSOD 0x1000007e or simply allowing me to use only Intel card).

HP Pavilion dv6-6135ez Entertainment Notebook Graphic Driver
Hi, I have a problem with instaling AMD driver.
I have win7 64 bit and when i install OS it automatically finds HD4000 driver but when i try to install amd it shows me than it installs a series 7 driver and i have series 6 on my laptop. and then it shows me that i don't even have a driver. HD4000 stops working.
how to fix this?

Ati Radeon HD 6370M code 43 in device manager after installing driver - can't get GPU to work

I have bought a second hand HP laptop recently and I am having hard time installing GPU drivers and getting it to work at all.. so here is my story:
I was told that the product I bought is a HP Pavillion DV7-4142eo. I have removed the battery and checked the labels under it - and indeed the manufacturers labeled it as a DV7 4142eo laptop.
HOWEVER - and now comes the fun part - the product number in the bios (XZ288UAR#ABA) belongs to the HP Pavilion dv7-4263cl. This is also true according to hp automatic product detection app.
I used the system information tool on windows 7 and pcidatabase.com to determine the models of the graphic cards in my laptop. It turns out it has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 and an Ati Radeon HD 6370M gpu.
First I tried to install the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics driver, because this gpu belongs to the DV7-4142eo laptop. It didnt work, in the windows 7 device manager I got two times "standard vga graphic adapter" showing.
Next I tried tried autodetection and used amddriverdownloader. This tool recomended installing the following driver: 13-9-legacy-vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe . After installing this driver the integrated graphic card ( ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250) works perfectly but I the other one - the more powerful one, the Ati Radeon HD 6370M - doesn't work. In the device manager it is labeled as "standard vga graphic adapter". Installing its own driver doesn't work as it results in the problem stated in the Subject.
What do you suggest me to do? Do you think code 43 means that my laptop's GPU is broken? Please help.

chromebook 14 not turning on
My chromebook will not turn on. The charging light does not light up when the cord is plugged in and the display does not turn on. I have tried holding the power button but it doesn't do anything. It was working fine before I closed it but would not do anything about an hour later.

HP Pavilion dv6 Black Screen
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-2066dx. When I turn on the computer the screen is completely black, but everything else seems to be working the way that it normally does. I have tried plugging in a secondary screen, rebooting without battery and only the AC adaptar, and hardbooting. I saw another thread talking about the flashing caps-lock button, but mine only flases once upon turning on the computer (if that makes a differnece). Any imput would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My HP smart touch laptop is less than 9 mos. and it won't turn on. The screen remains black but I can hear the operating system start. I rarely use it. What is the problem?

HP Pavilion dv 7-3165dx entertainment notebook
I tried turning on my laptop and got just a black screen, before when this had happened I just did a hard reset and it worked. Well that is no longer the case. The only thing on the keyboard that lights up are the top touch controls (sound, wifi, etc.) Is this a fixable issue or am I looking at a new laptop?

HDMI audio not coming in LED

When i connect to HDMI cable with LCD, video is coming but audio is not coming. Also by clicking on playback devices I can only see speaker & dual headphones & SPDIF. I cant see HDMI option.

Switchable graphics
I have a question about the switchable graphics on HP probook 450 G1. I have intel HD graphics 4000 and amd radeon 8750 but the amd card does not show anywhere. The games i have played only detected the intel graphics not the amd. Even if i switch to high performance im not sure that amd video card is working on them. This AMD video card only shows at device manager and thats it.

Upgrading to workstation graphics

First off, I know the "can i upgrade my graphics card?" question has been asked a million times before but i have a different twist on it.
(I also searched but wasnt able to find what i was after)
I have a Dv6 laptop
HP dv6-3139TX
Core i7 Q720 1.6Ghz
8GB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650
I use Solidworks quite a bit and its come to my attention that my current graphics card isnt the best for use with professional programs... I'm not a gamer, if i want to play games...I have a playstation and a laptop is my last choice anyway.
When i'm rendering in solidworks it doesn't always give textures/colours/finishes and backgrounds I apply to parts and all i can put it down to is the graphics card not optimised for professional use.
I've been looking at the specs of the card and it seems to be able to be replaceable if need be.

The question is:
Is it an option to look at one of the mobility versions of the Firepro cards as they're more 'professionally' oriented and could possibly render my models more accurately?

The main card I'm looking at on this list is the FirePro M5950 as it has very, very similar specs to my current HD5650.
Little bit newer and faster, but not much else different to my setup now. Open GL is only 4.1 as opposed to mine that is 4.4 compiant (Does this matter? Isn't it able to be upgraded anyway?)
Anyway, as you can no doubt tell i'm not the most intelligent when it comes to these things but i'm learning.
