FN function keys not working on dv7-3188cl
I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work.
I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.

Probook & official Catalyst Driver?
hello,
since the hp driver for my probook's 470 amd card is quite outdated, i wanted to give latest official catalyst 14.9 a try.
i wonder if there will be any issues araising, because i have read several times to only install hp's adapted driver?
is that still the case? how big are chances to ruin my installation?

Envy Touchsmart m6 sleekbook - the touch screen stopped working
Laptop is only 9 months old. I did all of the updates and then my touchscreen stopped working - that was 4 days ago. Today I did a system restore to the point before the 1st critical update (9/24/14). It still does not work. Did it corrupt my driver? And if so, what is the name of the driver? How can I restore the touch screen...

I can't change brightness using by hot-keys I am using Probook-450 G1
Hi i brought a new Probook-450 G1 and i am trying to adjust brightness by using hot key fn+f9 and fn+10 but it's not working. also i am with few problem i can't scroll page from touch pad, can anybody help me for that please.

broken screen HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC
Hi all!
I have a HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC and my screen is broken. It dosnt have any discoloration or spots or anything weird with the image displayed, the only issue is it being cracked. I need it fixed but i have no idea how to go about it unfortunately, and i wasnt sure if it would make a difference that the only damage is the the glass.
Any suggestions??

windows 8 black screen boot up
ive got a newer HP laptop with windows 8 "newest update", when i hit the power the screen stays black but the pc boots up.. right before it started doing this for 2 days when id try to boot it up it would go to the pass word screen then when id hit enter it would auto go to a black screen now it wont even do this. I need this laptop for school!!! and my tableti and phone is hard to do all of my reading and classes off of.... i tried to take the battery out and plug it up stuff that i had read in other forums but it didnt work, it didnt come with a recovery disk.. i did try to dl one from hp and put it on a usb but coz of hte black screen i couldnt get it to boot from the usb.. i even tried to plug it up to a external screen no picture on the other screen either.. really need some help with this its stressing me out!! 
cant remember when i purched the laptop so im not sure if it has a warntry on it my dad had got bored and took all the stickers off and im not even sure how to find out the seral# now

Connecting an External Monitor to a HP Pavilion 15t-n200
I have a HP Pavilion 15t-n200 laptop computer and I'm trying to hook up an external monitor.
I tried connecting directly to a monitor with an HDMI cable and this didn't work. So I bought a HDMI to VGA adaptor, and still no luck.
In both instances, I hooked up the monitor and pressed the F4 key to select how I select the other display. But none of the choices: Duplicate, Extend, or Second Screen Only seem to work. In fact, nothing happens when I make any of these selections.
Am I missing a step?

When powering down computer the screen goes black, then you see background
Ok, so I have HP Pavilion dv9000, I just got windows 7 on it, and updated all the drivers. When I go to power down my laptop, the screen goes black, then you see the background, then goes black and you see the background and then it shuts off. I am new to pc, have had a mac my whole life. It doesn't take like like less then a minute to shut down, but it is annoying. Is there anything I can do to have it just shut down normally?\

Screen does not turn on after sleep - ProBook 4530s - Windows 8.1 (64bit)
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this had to be posted in notebook display and video section, or laptop lockups, freezes and hangs. Anyway, I have a problem, where everything is fine with the computer, it's running smoothly, but whenever I make it go to sleep, after it does it instantly, the signals are of a regular laptop sleep - power buton flashing, no other signs of computer being on.
However, the problem appears when turning the computer back on after sleep. After pressing the power button, the computer straight away starts working - you can hear the fan turned on, etc, just that pretty much nothing changes with the screen. Sometimes, with some particular light directed towards the screen, you can even see, that the computer is on (seeing the clock on the display), just like the brightness was set down to 2% or something. And there is nothing that helps from what I have tried to do (tried reinstalling both AMD drivers and Intel HD drivers). I researched this problem extensively but could not find a solution, however, as I have noticed that this is quite an old problem (assuming from the date of the posts this problem first showed up), there might be a solution for it, to which I just have not noticed the answer?
If anyone can help me, please do, the sleep function is essential and extra important function when living on campus at university, I just cannot operate like this.
Hopefully someone will know, thank you in advance.

Screen showing random pixels on HP Pavilion dv6z 7000
Hi all!
Yesterday when I powered on my laptop the screen would only display random lines / pixels, like so:
What's the deal with this?
Important facts:
- I can use the laptop when I connect to an external monitor (so, not the graphics card, right?)
- After removing the screen, I confirmed that the cable connecting to the screen was secure with no gaps
My thought is that it must be a problem with the cable that I cannot see.
If that is indeed the case, what are my options? Is there something else that could be going on?

I had a broken screen replace and the pictures are not as clear as before
I had a broken laptop screen replaced and when I am in the process of loging in I see an orange dot on the left side but not when the laptop is on.
The person at the repair shop that replaced the screen said this is normal.
I notice the pictures are not as clear or sharp as before. Will this improved over time or do I need to do sonthing with the settings.
