Specifically purchaced this computer for a dedicated graphics card. Windows seems to prefer the onboard Intel graphics card. This is making for some conflicts when opening Photoshop.
I would guess the easist answer would be disable the Intel graphics card entirely so the only card being used in the Nvidia?
How do I do that?

HP Pavilion Envy notebook DV6 7029 intermitant fine pink and white lines
For the past 3-4 days when I open my laptop the display has fine horizontal pink and white lines across the top on the screen. The problem last for about 30 seconds or so. The lines start at the top one inch of screen and now are spreading lower toward the center of the screen before just going away. It is only right after I open my notebook and it automatically wakes from sleep/standby mode. I also rarely shut my computer all the way down. Just though I would throw that in. My computer was completely overhauled by HP sent in June this year. Almost everything was replaced except the power supply, fan display, ? graphics- they did replace mother board.
I am wondering if this indicates a need to go back to HP as I bought an extended Care Pack or are there other things i should try myself?

Connect HP Envy dv7 HDMI to Sony multi channel AV receiver
I would like to be able to connect my HP Envy dv7 to my Sony TV through my Sony multi-channel AV receiver (STR-DH810). Is there a component code available for the HP Envy dv7? Is so, I should be able to program one of the AVI buttons on the Sony receiver to recognize the HP laptop. I have both a HDMI - HDMI cable and a VGA (DB15) - HDMI cable that I can use.
I am hoping someone else has been able to set this up.

Laptop monitor stays black with Windows but not with Ibuntu
Can someone tell me why my daughter's Compaq laptop has no video, monitor is black, in Windows Vista but works fine with Ibuntu? The service shop said it is a bad video card but wouldn't that apply to the computer and not work in either operating system. I keep trying to repair it in Vista but this has me really puzzled. If it works with one OS shouldn't it work with the other?

Problem updating AMD drivers for Pavilion dv7t-4100

Hello! I am attemtping to update the drivers for my pavilion dv7, as it fails to duplicate monitors.
I went to the Catalyst Center and the Screen Resoultion menu, both of which failed to detect my external monitor (Cintiq 24HD).
The catalyst center seemed outdated, so I went to the main website to update the drivers. Ater doing so my laptop crashed, and the resolution went way down. And it states my PC has no graphic drivers.
I have fixed the issue with the resoultion, and am attempting to reinstall the drivers through the HP website, **The update seems to have failed, and I cannot access the catalyst control center.
I also still cannot correct the issue of screen duplication (or get modern graphic drivers).
Is there anyone who can help me fix this?

HP 15 Notebook PC Windows 8.1 Auto-Brightness
Hello, I just got my laptop a few days ago. I noticed that it automatically adjusts the brightness whenever it wants to. I turned off the adaptive brightness for every power plan and it STILL AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTS THE BRIGHTNESS I AM VERY UPSET AND ANNOYED AT THIS PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME WHAT ELSE I CAN DO BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND ANY OTHER WAY TO DO IT BEFORE I THROW THIS THING OFF A CLIFF thanks :-)

Blank screen orange wifi and mute lights
Hello,
I have a Pavilion Dv4 laptop that does not boot. It seems to be in hibernation with the wifi and wan lights in orange.
I can hear the fan spinning. It spins and then stops and spins again. The DVD light comes on and the numllock and caps locks blink in sequence of 1 continuously.
Please help me! I need my laptop to use.

The integrated webcam of my HP Pavilion g4 laptop suddenly stopped working
Hi,
I was using my laptop for video chats. 2 days agao I used skype and everything was alright. Then yesterday when I opened skype, the video was not coming. Some Cyberlink YouCam piture was there which said 'please swtch on your webcam'.
When I opened Cyberlink youcam from 'programs' it gives a message as "No webcam Detected. Try plugging in webcam in your computer now. if you are using and integrated camera, make sure it is turned on.'
there is no way I can turn on the camera... I even did not turn it off!
I read other discussions on this issue and tried everything:
1. Unistalling and reinstalling the software from recovery manager --- did not help!
2. There is no 'imaging devices' section in my device manager
3. In "Sound, Video and game Controller' section there is "Cyberlink WebCAm V irtual Driver' which is Enabled, and Updated to latest version.
Is there anything else I can try so that the webcam works?

hp pavilion dv6. display is not coming.
problem is there on my pc for 3 months when i changed my os. atlast few days after i installed windows8, my display went off. now, as i press it on, windows8 loading icon appears,thenafter just a black background where only my cursor moves, also volume and brightness adjustments appear if i change them. post me a solution soon.

The brightness on my HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC won't change, not using the function keys or the slider in "Power Options". This started happening two days ago; before then I had no issues. I am not sure what changed between then and now.

Video connector keeps disconnecting (Screen flickers on and off)
Hi,
I bought a HP Pavilion Notebook 14-v054ca two weeks ago. Last week, the screen was flickering on and off, so I took it to the shop. They said the video connector was knocked loose and asked me if I dropped the laptop. The laptop is on my desk 24/7 and I have not dropped it once (I only had it for a week)! I have a warranty, so they replaced my laptop for me. Sadly, all my data was wiped, but hey, things happen.
I digress.
Here I am with my second brand new HP Pavilion Notebook 14. I want to make sure the screen incident doesn't happen again, so I open and close the lid as gently as I can. Guess what. One week later, the video connector disconnected yet again. Is the 14-v054ca just a line of faulty, defective laptops? I hope that is not that case, because I love HP to death. I have an HP desktop and I am extremely satisfied with it. I don't want to trade this laptop in again just to have it happen a third time. It's an utter waste of time, and I lose my data every single time they give me a new one.

Screen not working

I have a problem with my son's nx6125 compaq laptop. His laptop was stolen and luckly we got it back but now the screen wont come on, does nothing, the Green light goes on as normal but nothing on screen. The battery has been removed and running it on power supply cable as we did before, everything seems normal, just that the screen wont come on. Please help for all his school work in on the laptop. Green screen while trying to watch tv episodes
How can I get rid of the green screen and simply enjoy watching the actual video of an episode? During this time, the audio comes in lovely. On Internet Explorer/Windows 8 (not chrome).

Laptop screen flickering, recoveries, BSOD
We have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.
Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.
But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.
Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?
Anyway, a solution or ideas much appreciated.
