HP Pavilion TOUCHSMART 11 Horizontal screen lines problem

Hello,

yesterday when i turned on my notebook, 2 horizontal lines across the display appeared. Looks like it's maybe some hardware problem, but I still hope that it could be solved without sending my notebook for HP service. Maybe it's just bad contact on the monitor cable and uplugging/plugging in it once can solve it? Can you please help me with this problem? Here is a photo of my issue.MICHAEL-NTB - Screenshot_5.jpg

Hello HP ...

I have a several question today , i'm using Intel HD Graphics 4000 on my laptop , can you explain the difference between dedicated and integrated graphics card
as far as i know vga Intel HD Graphics isn't a real graphics card it is shared/given from the processor ,last month i'm using win7 64bit and i checked my display on dxdiag it's say i have 777MB Approx.tot memory. however after i change my win7 to win 8.1 and checked the display on dxdiag again a weird things happen it's say i have 1004MB Approx.tot memory. why does this happen and how much Approx.tot memory can i get after i ''added'' RAM ( the result 2X2GB ) i read the article that when i added more ram then Your Approx.tot memory will change.

And for one question left .PLEASE give me the detailed about External VGA card
( Price, Is it can Run on a Laptop , where to get it , And if it can How it works )

Thank's you very Much For the answer and Attention
:D

HP G60-44OUS Notebook PC Monitor problem with colored vertical lines appearing when I attempt to push screen back a little to view.

This started while I was using the computer.  I wondered if I had held down a particular key too long?

I have turned the computer off.

I have also taken the battery out and put back in.

The problem seems to be getting worst.  I can barely see screen because I have to keep it brought forward to keep the vertical lines away!

Thank You!

The brightness control key on the keyboard of my hp pavillion g6 is not functioning. Earlier it used to work, and I could adjust the brightness of my screen. But now its just not working. Kindly notify me whether it is a driver or software problem. I had upgraded my laptop to the latest windows 8.1 6 months ago and didn't have any problem. Kindly mention  the driver or softeware which I need to download to solve this problem.

Windows 7

I recently updated my drivers using the AMD program that automatically performs this task. I believe this is the first time I updated the drivers since I purchased the laptop in 2011. Let's call this "state 1". The update added some new functionality, but I somehow lost the ability to configure my switchable graphics. When I right-clicked the screen and selected the option, instead of the window that displays recently run programs I would receive a window that just showed some generic AMD stuff with absolutely no option to switch graphics. Let's call this "state 2".

In my attempt to remedy the situation, I dug myself into a deeper hole.  I went to Device Manager and selected "Roll Back Drivers". Now I don't have access to AMD Catalyst Control Center at all. When I try to access it I get an error message that says:

"AMD's desktop manager is being unloaded because an AMD display driver is not currently running... etc."

We can call this "state 3". It says this is driver version 8.861.1.0. I want to return to state 1 or even state 2, but I don't want to tinker any further with drivers without a little oversight because I don't want to make this issue any worse. Can I just update to the most recent drivers right away or do I need to uninstall old drivers or something? Do I have remenents of conflicting drivers on top of each other or what? Thanks for your help.

EDIT: It also appears that neither YouTube videos or MPEG-4 videos are working either.

EDIT 2: I used system restore to bring me back to a point several days ago (state 2) so I regained video capabilities, but this still leaves the problem of "Configure Switchable Graphics" being non-operational. Sorry for this mess of a text.

UGH!  Yes this recently happened to me as well.

I recently went to open my laptop to only find that the screen was not responding.  It has white, purple and blue lines running through it.  SOOOO, I called the warranty company (since yes I do purchase warranty plans) to find out that since I have had the laptop for only...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...4 1/2 months (!!!!!!!) that the laptop is still covered under manufacturer's warranty.  So, I get the number from them to call HP.  After being on hold for over 10 minutes, there is an agent that comes on.  I find this person to be very nice at start,  THEN he puts me on hold, comes back on and attitude has changed.  TELLS ME THAT SINCE I DID THE DAMAGE BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THAT IT WOULD HAVE CRACKED INTERNALLY THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!!!  How is that even possible I ask.  Then told that "just because you say that you are careful doesn't mean that you really are".  I was so PI**ED off by insinuating that I throw my laptop around.  It stays in my residence and does not travel with me when I go long distances.  When I do go short trips (less than 3 hours away) it stays in my padded laptop bag and it is (yes I know this is going to sound weird) in a seatbelt in the back seat so that way it does not get bumped or thrown around.

The only reason that I got this new laptop is because I had recently decided to go back to school, and needed a newer laptop since my other laptop is about 3 years old at that time.  I guess that means that when/if I decide to purchase a new laptop I have to stay away from HP not only because from what I have been reading online about the screens cracking and HP tells everyone that "it is not covered by warranty" so there is nothing that they will do.  Oh wait, I was told that I cound give them my credit card numbers and they would fix it.  But when I ask a price they then tell me that they will not give me a price until I provide my credit card information.  The customer service agent insisted that I give him all my information before telling me a price.  I say firmly "NO" that I want a price, and then is told "Well somewhere from $250-$800" depending on the damage that I DID!  HELLO!  How much!  I guess moral that I learned is that "You get what you paid for" and I got it because I only paid around $325 for the computer, and I may have to pay $800 to get it fixed, when it should be covered under warranty.  THANKS HP FOR THE HELP  (NOT)

HP630: 64bit Win7 Ultimate: Movies stop while playing in all players

Hi,

I have a HP 630 laptop. A few months back I upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate. Since I then I observed that while playing a movie (especially Blu ray and HD rips or sometimes some other rips too), the video suddenly stops playing, infact pauses & along with this, the laptop also hangs, resulting in not letting me do any thing with it !! After some time laptop survives but the video starts playing the same content repeatedly or doesn't play at all. At that time, I am also not able to close the video player. I have to do it from task manager only. First I thaught since the RAM is only 2 GB, might be a problem, so I got a new additional 4 GB RAM, whcih also I asked here in HP forum only.

After putting in the new RAM (ie, not the total is 6 GB), again the same problem is coming. Idownloaded and installed all latest drivers from the website. Everything else is working perfectly fine. The only problem is with video playbacks.

Please suggest what to do or if possible provide me remote help.

Thanks.

Vikrant

HP Probook 650 G1 Radeon HD 8750M/Intel HD 4600

Hi All,

I purchased a 650 G1 3 days ago and I just spent the last three days trying to fix this laptop.

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit

First of all I don't understand why this laptop was not prepared properly directly from the manufacturer.

When I right click on my desktop and click Catalyst Control Center I get the followng error.

"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.

There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center"

In the device manager both drivers are installed.

And my laptop is plugged into a docking station with two monitors attached.

Here is my problem.

If I go to AMD's website and install the latest drivers CCC works fine i can adjust which software should be on high power and which software should be on low power. Problem is that when the latest AMD drivers are installed from AMDs website Intel driver does not work and does not recognize the two monitors that are attached through the docking station.

If I uninstall the AMD's drivers and install HP Amd drivers(which are older than the AMD drivers on AMD website, please see the link:  http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5405405&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253Dob_129558_1%257CswEnvOID%253D4059%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken )

Then Intel graphics card works fine and I can use both my screens.

HP installs the AMD drivers as "AMD Radeon HD 8750M" where as AMD drivers installs it as "AMD Radeon HD 8500/8700"

How can I fix this?

THE MONITOR ON MY LAPTOP IS BLACK WHEN I BOOT IT UP. I HOOKED UP AN EXTERNAL MONITOR (TV MONITOR) AND THE DESKTOP WAS ON THE EXTRA MONITOR. SO I TRIED SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE TWO MONITORS WITH THE F4 KEY. I HIT THE EXTENDED OPTION AND THE  DESKTOP WENT AWAY. ARE THERE ANY KEYSTROKES OR HOT KEYS I CAN USE TO BRING BACK THE EXTERNAL MONITOR?
