HP Dv7 1448dx Operating on Windows Vista Home Premium

Warranty is expired

 

I wish I could give you more details but this is an alternate computer that I am currently on and I am trying to fix my grandparents laptop for them. Their HP laptop will turn on but no screen is displayed. I have tried hard resets and external displays to no avail as well as trying to connect it to an external monitor and my T.V. as well with an HDMI cord. When you push the power button the fan, hard-drive, Processor and LED lights all work. I have taken apart the laptop best I could without getting myself lost to check for faulty wiring and I couldn't find anything wrong or out of place. Nothing was loose at all. 

 

How this happend is from what I hear they were watching a youtube video and the sound went haywire and their screen went completely white. They couldn't fix the screen or sound problem so they manually shutdown the computer by holding in the power button. When they went to turn it back on everything started up as far as internals go but the screen remained black and if you let it run for a period of time you do not here windows startup. I took out their hard-drive and tested it on my own computer and it works fine so I know its not the hard-drive. Their RAM and Processor are tightly in place and appear to have no damage done to them. I was not able to make it to the motherboard when I took this appart because I did not want to lose my place with the screws and connections. 

 

IF anyone can help me fix this laptop I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this post I look foward to hearing from anyone that can help.

Hello everyone,

last night i had to update Itunes, i did that and reduced the brightness via the F2 and F3 buttons, because it was night.

After it was done installing i turned my laptop off, with reduced brightness.

Now when i started it it still has reduced brightness.

The F3 and F2 buttons do not work.

Whenever i type: 'brightness' in the windows search bar it wont bring me to the page.

I cant go to the energy tab to change the brightness there.

I didn't install any drivers lately.

Hi there i am having a problem with my pavilion dv6200

 

This is third time the same thing is happening to me. After i install some updates, display dimms, and background light became darker. When i restart computer, and enter BIOS, or if i am just looking at the screen before i log on to windows, backlight is normal.

 

Can you help please? Any stable version of ati catalyst?

Hi,

 

I have a big problem with my HP Pavilion DV6 3020sy laptop.

Whenever I start it, everything looks fine. The loading etc... comes up, but after the windows loading screen the screen shuts off completely. Not just a backlight deal, but it shuts off completely.

This has happened to me once before, but then I simply restored the system (with the onboard system restore deal-y) and that fixed it. This time it didn't.

I've tried removing the bios battery and resetting it that way, but that didn't help.

 

 

Any help is appriciated.

I was originally running Windows 7 Home basic 64 bit on my notebook. The graphics card version was Intel HD 3000, i think. After my Windows crashed, I installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. Now when I open the HP Support Assisstant, it says my graphics card adapter is Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Also, none of my games are starting.  When i try to install the original graphics driver for my notebook, available on the internet, it says my notebook does not meet the requirements for installation. Any solutions?

Hi forum,

 

I got a HP Pavilion DV6-6171ed. Now I installed Windows 8.1 Pro.

I installed the new drivers for all devices. Only the Intel HD Graphics 3000-driver is installing and is then ready to use.

But after the setup I can choose to restart my laptop. I chose yes. After the restart the driver is installed but I can't change my brightness after the restart... (it can after the setup, before the restart).

Everytime I do the setup again then I can change my brightness, but not after a restart or shutdown.

I hope you guys have a solution about this awful 'bug (?)' already thanks :smileyhappy:

Hello everyone.

 

I have a serious problem.

I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my G62 and I didnt use the recovery drive - i chose to install Windows from a CD.

After installing I`m having huge problems with setting up the graphics. Every driver i try to install gives me Bluescreen after rebooting (tried the ones suggested for my notebook on HP site aswell as many others - nothing seems to be working).

 

Is there someone who can help me? I`m loosing my hope :(

 

What exactly should I do.

Some days ago I experienced a problem with my notebook. The problem is that i see a screen in 8bit color  and at 640x480 resolution...
The system work finely, even if the graphics is really bad... In my control panel i can see in the description of my video card that the error code is 43, i searched in some forums and after some reinstallations of drivers I found that can be a problem with Graphic Memory.

I have read something about a special extension of warranty for some models, there is something that i can do with this product?

I upgraded from xp to win7 pro & my high definition audio device can not start (code 10) tryed to update drivr but shows driver is the right one. Is there a better driver ?

Hi All:

 

After fresh installation for Windows  8.1 Enterprise 64 bit on my laptop EliteBook 2560p, applying all of the drivers, everything is working fine except for the Ambient Light function nor increasing or decreasing the brightness of the screen.

Appreciate any help.

hi

i need help to find the lcd invertor in compaq cq 61. i allready disambled screen from laptop but i can not find it . here only two cables one for camera and second the power cable , rest nothing no extra cable and no lcd invertor .

Hi all,

 

I have one problem with my TouchScreen on my Laptop. I have HP Spectre Xt TouchSmart 15-4000 ed with Windows 8.1. My Touch screen does not working. I have downloaded and installed all driver from official HP support site for my Laptop with windows 8.1 version. If I open Device manager after installation of all driver from HP site, I have one unknown USB device. So I think, that this one is USB connector for touch screen. In computer/proporties is some comment: Pen and Touch is not available for your displey or something like this. In Control panels/Hardware and soud is missing Pen and Touch. I checked Microsoft catalogue and downloaded NextWindow driver for windows 8.1 through microsoft catalogeu. I read some forums and tried found some solution, but nothing works on my Laptop. Before update from Win 8 onto Win 8.1 my Touch Screen was working. Could you please help me with my problem?

Hi:

         my product code is A3D69PA#AB4

         pavillion dv6-6171tx

 

yesterday when i on my laptop its stuck on welcome screen then screen went black and hang.

i try to do a clean install on the laptop with ori win 7 hp 64bit with driver downloaded from hp side.

everything was fine untill i started install the amd graphic driver with swithcable function with intel chipset.

same thing happend laptop stuck at welcome screen and wont boot up.

i enter safe mode and uninstall the amd driver but failed so i use amd unintall utilities and clean up the driver and laptop performs fine. but without graphic i am stuck at using it as normal surfing machine. i need it to do basic cat and cs drawing.

any suggestions?

updating my radeon 7670m with latest amd driver ,removes  amd catalyst driver(previously installed) and also intel HD driver,thus disabling the graphics hardware in my Hp pav g6 2006tx.this problem is occuring since when my OS was reinstalled my HP service(They said that i had issues with my previous OS win 7 ultimate) , prior to this  installation i had never encounterd such upadting problems .Games lag when i play with my default driver as it does not support many of the new ones !Please help out with this issue.CURRENT OS : WIN 7 ultimate with sp 1
