HP Stream 11 Pro monitor no images, backlight works

The notebook got bumped a little. Since then there is no picture to the display, however the backlight works. Using an external monitor via HDMI I found that the notebook is operating as normal. Windows & hard drive function normally as do all on-board devices like USB ports and WiFi. The camera and mic built into the frame around the display are still operating normally.

Control Panel/Display does not recognize that there is a display connected to the video output of the notebook's motherboard. In Control Panel it lists "Mobile PC Display" but does not recognize a display device connected. When I disable video output from the notebook out to the "Mobile PC Display" the backlight turns off. When I enable the video output to Mobile PC Display (for example, setting it to a duplicate of the external monitor I am using via HDMI), the backlight turns on. So I know that the backlight is working fine, but somehow the video signal is not getting through.

The first thing I did was take the top off the notebook. I could tell I didn't need to, but I reseated the ZIF connector cable leading off the board to the display.

I have popped open the bezel around the screen and looked a bit and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. It seems like my next step is to completely remove the bezel, then the display panel, and see if the cable that connects to the back of the display panel is secure - although, having said that, if it wasn't secure, then the backlight wouldn't be responding.

I have tried to completely remove the bezel, but there are 2 screws where the display enclosure meets the base that have to be removed first, and for the life of me I can't get the screw covers off. The instructional video on the HP site makes it look easy, but I can't get them to come off

Vertical lines on blue on my notebook display

Hello! I've revealed a problem with my new HP Pavilion 15 cs1004ur. When the display shows tints of light blue (and, sometimes, orange), I can see light vertical lines on it. Examination with loupe showed that there are different light intensity of even and uneven columns of green subpixels. So the lines have 1 pixel span. For FullHD resolution it is rather big.

Updating drivers and switching display source from integrated card to discrete one was not userful. There are lines in BIOS too.

What can i do? Thanks

Have a Happy New Year!

I cannot open the Photos App. Neither by itself, nor by trying to view photos I have in my computer.

Besides, some of my desktop icons (as all the photos I have downloaded) have two light-blue arrows in a corner. There´s no problem with these, I just want to know what does that mean.

Thank you!

Screen broken but notebook is working, should I fix it or buy a new one?

My notebook 15-ba009dx screen broke, I’m not sure but could be that I accidentally stepped on it. Is there a way I can get it fixed. Warranty has expired. If I get it fixed how much would it cost. Or should I buy a new laptop? But I will have to recover my data from this one. Half my screen is broken so I can’t really operate on it. What should I do?

Z Book 15, Windows 7 has stopped connecting to Dell UltraSharp secondary monitor

$

Can anyone help with this?

I have a well maintained Z book 15, with an i7 chip at 2.7 Ghz.

I also use the docking station that offers Display Port and extra USB ports, and I use this to connect to a secondary monitor to extend the display - a Dell UltraSharp U2515H.

But about 2 months ago, the secondary display stopped working.

I've tested the montitor with another laptop and it works fine, so am pretty sure it's not the monitor itself playing up.

If I connect the HP via the Display Port on the computer or the docking station, it registers nothing.  Have tried all ports and cables.

I'm guessing this is becuase of a Windows update or something, but I'm totally stumped.

What's weird is that when I select an input for the monitor where there is no cable attached, my mouse will "stop" at the border of my main laptop screen.  But when I select the Display Port input on the monitor with a cable attached to the Z book, the mouse will continue to "run" on to the external monitor, but it registers nothing.  The monitor will just say that it is receiving no signal from the computer.

Would love any tips if anyone has anything?

Olly
