My work machine is a HP Elite book with a docking station, two extneral monitors and a USB key board. A nice work set up. I plug the Elite Book into the dock, power it up and I'm using my laptop with the lid/monitor down.
Can I mimic this set up at home with my Envy 17t?

The HDMI port on this laptop is limited to 4k 30hz. The user manual says the USB C port is capable of Display Port 1.2 so I got a USB C to HDMI 2.0 adaptor but it does not work. Please advise.
I am using a USB 2.0 cable that works fine for 4k 60hz when connectected to another device. The USB C to HDMI adaptor is this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HVQQPYK/
EDIT: I see I need an adaptor that support DP ALT mode. So I returned the one I got and ordered one that supports ALT MODE

Recently my computer screen had broke and I could barley see a thing. I learnt that you could use a HDMI cable to turn a TV into a moniter. A couple weeks pass and I decide to go remove my antivirus. I do what it says and when I try to continue it just says no signal on my tv. I cant tell what is what on my laptop screen. Any solutions?

This is the second HP Envy laptop I have owned, and will never buy another. In both cases, the hinge has failed, causing the case to crack open on the edge when opening or closing.
In both instances, the hinge fail occured just after the one year warranty expired.
Epic fail.
Computer will power on, but nothing but a black screen will display.
Downloaded windows 10 to my notebook worked okay but slowly started not loading very well. Then one day went to turn computer on and it shows windows symbol like it’s going to load log in screen but takes about 5+ minutes then goes to a black screen but you can still see the mouse cursor. Tried doing the recovery of going back to the old version of windows I had but it didn’t work. Also tried pulling the battery and holding the power button for a minute and it still does the same thing. What else can I do that wouldn’t require me to tear into my computer?

Which pens are compatible with this HP Pavilion 360x? The model is not listed on the "Touchscreen Compatibility with Pen and Stylus" webpage that is often linked/recommended.
Also I cannot see this model mentioned with the HP pens available on the store's website, or anywhere else online for that matter.

I changed the custom display scaling to 150%(Recommended) as I was not able to read the texts on previous scaling.
But now some windows apps like "Computer Management", "Installer", etc are apperaring blurry. Main applications like "Chrome" "File Manager" are working fine.
Please somebody help me. Or atleast say what my default custom scaling was on the first place. (I forgot to check before changing. I think it's between 125% &150%)

I have updated my HP envy as requested by HP Support Assistant to new F.19 BIOS update and now my laptop is completley unreliable. It randomly crashes with white screen at any given moment. Did all updates to drivers and windows and double checked them. Tried everithing on HP Support Assistant. I tried to roll back BIOS but was not able due to HP software refusing to rollback due to that I'm going back to older version of BIOS. With previous BIOS I was really happy and had no crashes and laptop performed well. Please help as I need this laptop to do work!
New Pavilion laptop - spec says that USB-C connection supports Displayport 1.2 alternate mode.
Want to connect 4K monitor via Displayport to get 60hz refresh rate - connection via hdmi cable works but is only 29hz.
Have tried 3 different cables all spec'ed to support this but none work. Still have two cables which are being used to test. Monitor works correctly over Displayport with either of these cables when connected to another laptop (Dell).
The cables don't work with the laptop 'as shipped' or with intermediate stacks as bios/firmware/software updates installed per the HP Support utility.
The retailer technical support team went through their standard diagnostics (including a clean reinstall of the system) and agreed that there was a fault versus the claimed specification , they exchanged the laptop but the replacement still fails.
Have tried uninstalling all the USB hubs (the hidden one's as well), disabling any power saving on the USB (and graphics).
In all cases the external monitor has no signal on the displayport connection and the laptop doesn't detect the attached monitor.
When either cable is plugged in, the 'USB connected' beep occurs and a warning message flashes up saying the USB connection may be limited (this doesn't happen when connected to the Dell).
There is a difference in the connected USB devices (in Device Manager)
For one of the cables there is a USB Device - USB 2.0 billboard, for the other it is called DisplayPort Alternate
It looks like the cables are being recognised (at some level) but there is no signal being sent/received along the wire.

When my envy 360 wakes up it sometimes starts random wild screen touch al over the display. Most of the time I have to powder off the computer to get it to stop. How can I fix this?

Problem: While in MS Word, Yahoo email, and sometimes in the browser, the cursor jumps to a different line or place on the page. This happens every time in Word , usully in email, and most anywhere in the browser where I am typing in a paragraph. I have attempted solutions that I have read at this forum but have not found a solution. I am a fast typist and have slowed down my typing to accomodate this problem, to no avail. I have learned to live with the problem and have assumed I'll have to replace the Notebook with a different brand but, otherwise, there is nothing else wrong with this laptop so I would like to solve this problem.
My Screen brightness will not adjust. I've used the Function keys and tried adjusting it in the settings. I've had the laptop for about 6 months and it always worked fine. The problem arose over the last few days. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
