It turns on and everything and it shows wen you log in to put your password but after the screen just turns black but you can still see the mouse and move it around but the screen is just plain black

Windows 8.1 black screen at login on HP Spectre 13t-3000 CTO Ultrabook
Occasionally, on a startup or restart, the screen goes black and is unresponsive after the login screen, where the Start screen is normally displayed. This usually happens after a software update (by any application), but will sometimes happen on a routine startup (no changes.) The only remedy is to perform a system restore from a previous session (before session where problem occurs). I've hoped this would be fixed via automatic updates, but it hasn't been. Usually any (same) update will install later without triggering the problem. Just now this problem occurred with a Lightroom update, which has damaged my Lightroom catalog upon restore! All auto-released updates are installed, including graphis driver updates.

I am unsure what I have to do to overcome this error message.

HP Support Assistant shows these adaptors:
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Radeon (TM) HD 6770M
Could you please assist.
After posting this I have just noticed the same error post below so I will follow the reply to that question. Hoping that that fixes my problen.

HP Pavillion G7-
I have a Pavilion G7 rinning windonw 7. The fan had stopped working and I recently took the laptap apart to clean the fan. When i put everything back together, the power light comes on and the light on the side come on. Those are the only two lights. The f12 light doens't come on and neither does any of the caps lock or number lock light come on. I have checked all my connections more then once. Any help would be appreciated. The screen will not come on either. The fan comes on and I can hear the cd working, but no video.

pavilion 17e135nr hdmi not working ...
brand new hp pavilion 17e135nr window 8.1
tv is brand new 50inch visio
i know the cable is good (new) because my ps 3 works just fine so i unplugged the ps3 and hooked to the laptop
to play a movie i down loaded and i selected HDMI 2 where the cable is hooked to on my tv, i get no input on the tv.
so i win p and selected duplicate screen and i get nothing, no error messages , the movie starts and plays just fine on the laptop but tv says no input.. i didn't try to select second screen only it should play on both screens, I dont think the HDMI port is working at all
any ideas before i contact support?

Dear HP Support,
I would like to solve a trouble with my HP 6470b with an Intel HD 4000 graphic card.
Well... I am trying to connect it to an external monitor (19 inch, 1440x900 resolution), but i can not do it, I can set some resolution which do not suit to my monitor.
I understood that Custommodeapp.exe is required ... but i couldnt find it in my computer (in sys32 folder), and other new driver for my notebook dont contain it.
How to fix this issue...thank You in advance.

I too have this problem when I use any external monitor; despite being advised that I could run multiple monitors off of this laptop.

Broken HP Laptop Screen
Hello, I've had my laptop for about 3 months now and a crack has appeared on the top left corner of my screen. I didn't drop it and kept it in good condition to find one day with a big crack. The screen has even gone completely white and i have to restart just to use. This is my go to for homework so I'm very concerned. Reading other comment seems to indicate a harware error. Can someone help me please I love the computer but this is a problem. There's nothing wrong woth the computer, It works weel and i love it but since the dsplay is messed up i cant even use it. Blu Rays wont play
I have a Pavillion dv7 that came with windows7 and would play dvd's and blu rays with no issues.
I have upgraded to Windows8.1 which i understand that doesnt natively support playback of dvd or blu ray.
I have the Media Centre add on and that will allow me to play dvds but not blu rays.
The issue i have is that even using third party software such as CyberLink or TotalTheatre I still connot get the Blu rays to play.
CyberLink tells me that the drivers aren't up to date (even thoughi have updated them all) and wont even entertain the idea of playing anything.
Total Theatre tells me my system isnt hdcp compatable but will start to play the disc.
Surely if it wasnt compatible, it wouldnt play at all?
Are there any software packages that will work?
All I can say is thank God for trial versions as if i had to pay for what I have tried so far I would have spent well over £100 for something that doesnt work.
I dont mind paying for software if it works.
Is there anything i can do to make the software think that the system is compatible?
any help on this would be gratefully recieved.
