Hi there, I am currently using a EliteBook 840 G5. I noticed there isn't a double tap button to temporarily disable the touchpad. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Hi all. I have one simple question with the model of notebook I just bought.

I have a really poor display brightness. I’ve already put every brightness setting at max (batery, display options, etc) and I have already turned off adaptive brightness.

So my question is, is it just that the brightness is poor or Is there something left for me to do?

    Thanks!

Eleven months ago I purchased a HP ENVY 15-inch convertible laptop and received a pen in the package. The pen, shown in the attached image below, appears to be an HP Active Pen manufactured by Microsoft, but according to this HP site it should be compatible with the computer – I mean, it came in the same box, right?

    c05523697_1750x1285[1].jpg

However, since the start I have been having issues with the connection between the pen and the computer. The pen writes on the screen, moves the cursor when hovering, registers pressure changes and the buttons work provided the pen is within three centimetres from the screen. However, every ten to fifteen seconds the connection between the pen and the laptop breaks. Even when holding the pen on the surface of the screen, none of the functions work correctly. Cleaning the screen, cleaning the pen tip and turning the battery around in the pen has no effect. Instead, ten seconds later, the pen resumes working as if randomly. I may as well note that the touch and multi-touch works perfectly with my fingers.

I have replaced the battery already, and I do not think it is the issue behind this. I have not yet tried updating my BIOS or the chipset software and I do not think this is relevant: the pen can still connect, it's just that the connection is intermittent. What could be the issue here? Is it a hardware problem with the pen?

Working on a HP HP Spectre x2 12 (Model N5S14UA #ABA) It came in with a totally shattered touchscreen. When removing the screen the rubber trim around the glass which also wraps around the backside of the glass with a metal band that attaches to the magnets in the base to hold the touchscreen in place, was not salvageable.

I ordered and received a new touchscreen and tested on the Spectre and it works fine. Problem is I can't locate the Trim piece anywhere. Can't even find a part number for it. I've scoured the internet, HP, and messaged about every person selling the screens on eBay, amazon, and screen replacement companies with no luck. Can anyone shed some light on this mysterious part?   Thank you....

  • 08/21/18--06:44: HP Envy screen issues
  • I am noticing, particularly during windows update screen, there are what looks like wet smudges near the bottom of the screen. With some colour backgrounds such as white it can't be seen but is particularly prominent when the background is blue. Is it possible that water is inside the screen and are there any replacement screens still in production for this model?

  • 08/21/18--07:23: Stylus Compatibility
  • Good morning! I have two HP laptops that I would like to purchase a stylus for each and have some concern about compatability. The model numbers for each are:

    m6-aq005dx

(15" touch screen HP ENVY x 360 m6 Convertable PC)

    13t-u100

(13" touch screen HP ENVY x 360 Convertable)

Could you please help me find one for our computers? I would greatly appreciated it. Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

I can't find an active pen for this model   hp pavilion x360 15-br 158. This model is not included in the stylus compatibility list on your website.

So I've had this problem for a while now and every option I try isn't working, I have tried changing the power options in the windows and Intel Graphics setting yet the screen still dims every time. is there a solution to this?

    Hello!,

Thank you for viewing and possibly helping with the issues I'm having.  I've included a little dump of Radeon info and dxdiag to possibly help.

I had to replace the HDD for this system, so I lost the original Factory Recovery partition.  I installed a fresh instance of Windows 10 Home, then I installed the Original HP drivers, Starting with the System/Graphics drivers, then installed the updated Chipset drivers (18.10.c.0601 it was listed with this APU before the current site change), then installed the Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 drivers.  I've done this three times now..  The first time I had the "customization" for this system set-up properly including being able to download the Windows Store apps for; AMD Graphics Profile, and AMD Display Optimizations, and I having the battery and GPU/Power Optimizations installed and setup, and also including having Freesync working (which I wouldn't have even known about until Windows/Radeon setting alerted me that it was available and ready to setup, which is how I KNOW it was working), and also HDCP and HDR.  Even with the customization setup, the system still had performance issues (I'm now attributing the older AHCI amdsata.sys, amdxata.sys being stuck in the system32.. after manually updating system performs much better), so I did that Clean Installation several times with these drivers.

The main issue is that after several "Clean Installations" I seem to have lost the customization for battery/power/APU/GPU/Freesync, and can't install the Windows Store AMD apps anymore.  Can one help me get these drivers and customization working properly again?  I'm far from new to IT, hardware, AMD, and driver installation, but I haven't had to deal with AMD drivers for a very long time, and now I'm finding myself in the same confusing boat again.

    When I connect a USB Type-C to 4K HDMI Adapter (j5create) I receive from windows 10:

Fix USB-C problems - Windows Help

    Display connection might be limited

DisplayPort/MHL connection might not work. Try using a different cable.

I asked the j5create support, and I received:

The JCA153G is considered plug and play, however it does require that your computer support a function called Display Port v1.2 through USB-C.
I suggest contacting the support of your laptop's manufacturer to make sure that your laptop can support DisplayPort v1.2 over USB-C.

I talked with HP support, but they just said that I must check the user guide. I did it, but I found no information about the Displayport supported by the notebook.

    Can someone help me?

    Hi There,

    I have a

HP ENVY 15-j140na Notebook PC - Non Touch!

The screen is now going wrong.  I am quite happy with the Laptop!!

Can I replace the non touch screen with a touch screen?

The existing screen is a 15.6-in, BrightView, FHD, LED, non-TouchScreen display assembly     720552-001

Can I have the screen replaced with a 720550-001??

The list below is from the user guide for this model

    Description                                                                                     Spare part number
15.6-in, BrightView, FHD, LED, TouchScreen display assembly           720550-001
15.6-in, BrightView, HD, LED, TouchScreen display assembly             720549-001
15.6-in, BrightView, FHD, LED, non-TouchScreen display assembly     720552-001
15.6-in, BrightView, HD, LED, non-TouchScreen display assembly       720551-001

Please come back soonest with a response - the pressure pad I am having to lodge in place (bottom RHS) to make the screen work is getting annoying.  Also please advise how many pins the screen connector has is it 30 or 40?

    Thanks for any help available.

After a Windows 10 update I had no cursor or touch pad function.  I contacted Microsoft Support, over the course of three days (and 7 technicians) they said the Synaptic driver was wrongly installed and HP would have to be contacted in order for them to install the correct driver.

These are some of the steps they took:

When checking the Synaptics PS/2 Port Touch Pad it give a "code 24" message.

    Did a restore point

Troubleshooting hardware device resulted in an error "0x8000FFFF"

    they uninstalled/reinstalled drivers

finally they downloaded a whole new ISO.

It still doesn't work and still have the same error messages.

The Microsoft support team via Chat was awesome, they were very accomadating but in the end they said HP would have to install the correct drivers.

Unfortunately HP won't offer a live chat like Microsoft, that is very disappointing seeing that my device worked perfectly until the update and it is an issue at their doorstep that, apparently, can only be resolved with their help.

So I'm asking on this forum, maybe there is still hope out there. Oh I did look over a similar question on the forum but after following down through the thread of replies, it didn't offer any help for my problem.

I am having the same problem with HP Pavailion 14 which I bought a couple days ago. Everything was fine after I switched to Ubuntu 18.04

But after I installed Nvidia driver 390, system starts to freeze after sleep mode. I tested it by closing the lid and reopening it.
