furthermore the keyboard has stopped working on it's own also so i used the screen as a keyboard.

HP Spectre x360, (Skylake version) touchscreen replacement
Hello, I have Hp Spectre x360 Skylake version convertible laptop. Unfortunately, its touchscreen got a few scratches and I would like to replace it. (LCD is perfectly fine, just the outer cover needs to be replaced) I have contacted HP support around February 2017 to get a quote.
They suggested a "Chassi" repair for 199 Euros. I haven't decided to start sending it for repair yet, so I would like to know how long the spare parts are available? I would hope maybe 5 years? I am planning to get this done this fall so I hope this offer is still valid.

Bios Update F.30 breaks dedicated GPU support.
Hello everyone.
Following the end of June I had recived a notice to update the Laptop bios from F.28 to F.30 to support Windows 10 version 1803.
I had done that and I had even upgraded the Laptop's various drivers to their respective latest 1803 compatible versions using HP's own website.
My problem is that my Radeon 530 dedicated GPU that was the main selling point of this laptop due to it's 7th Generation Console level gaming performance (It plays a lot of 2008-2013 last gen PC games at high settings at 768p), does not even work at all anymore.
The AMD control center recognizes the card, Windows recognizes the card and various hardware analytic programs such as CPUZ and Speccy recognize the card yet, it is never used.
When I select high performance on the Radeon side of things, it only keeps selecting the integraded R7 Graphics of the AMD A12 9720p CPU. This is bad because the R7 GPU is signifciantly slower than the 530 despite the diffrence in memory speed. The R7's clock speed and number of compute cores are vastly slower and lower compared to the Radeon 530 despite only using DDR3 memory.
This restricts me to using resolutions like 960x540 and 1024x576 when playing games such as MGSV:TPP, Deus EX HR, Portal 2 and even Fortnite. Keep in mind that a month prior, I could've easily played these games at 720p or 900p with no issue. This is a servere downgrade.
On the technical side of things, Windows Task manager only shows the Radeon 530 as having 512MB of memory when a month earlier, it showed 1024MB, despite it having 2048MB(That wasn't an issue because the card still functioned).
My model shipped with 8GB of DD4 RAM but it was single channel only. I upgraded it with another 8GB stick, using dual channel now so that stuttering would stop(and it did) and when I did that, the GPU still worked so that's not the issue at all.
I have tried to downgrade the bios using various methods ranging from the USB stick HP_TOOLS trick, the fail safe bios recovery method using Winkey+B and also V but that only reverted to the bios already installed. (F.30 was reinstalling...F.30...0_0)
I'm at my wits end here. I want to know if HP is even aware of this issue. This laptop came out in october of 2017. It's 2018. It's not even a year old, yet when I try using the offical HP support channels I see that it's "No longer serviced by HP."
I need this laptop for my Game Design courses that start in September this year. I bought it because it was cheap and the specs despite being (low end) were capable of running Unity engine and Visual Studio as well as Blender with no issue at all.
Is HP going to issue a new BIOS update anytime soon? Will that even fix this issue?! I literally cannot downgrade because the old bios is either "Not intended for this system" or the "Signiture file check has failed."
I've also jumped from Windows 10 1703 to 1709 and 1803 to see if it was a Windows 10 problem and its not because the issue still persisits.
I'm feeling kinda ripped off here.
I'm wating for an update that I'm not sure will ever come.

Screen whitening and colored lines
So for a few months now I have been having some minor problems with the screen, about one third of the way from the right side it would develop a bunch of vertical colored lines on occasion, but I could make this go away by closing it and reopening the laptop. There were also some horizontal lines and the screen would freeze after the lines flickered a few times. Currently the problem has gotten worse, with the lines refusing to dissappear and the screen slowly turning white after a while. After 15 minutes this most recent time the screen started to return to normal, save for one small light colored spot near the bottom which has been there since november. I have tried updating the graphics drivers to no avail and the problem persists on the BIOS.

I have the same problem.
I think the problem is with AMD driver verision 122.19.180.513 (this is package from HP derivers SP 84755).
The best way to fix is to download ( amdcleanuputility ) from AMD site. Then install a new version 17.7 or 18.5 or 18.7, they all work fine and freesync is "on".
However, a new problem is with microsoft update, it insistist on downloading (updating) the AMD driver back to 122.19.180.513, which breaks everything again.
I have windows home to I cannot stop windows updates.

HP pavilion laptop black screen with curser
Hello. I updated my HP laptop and then restarted it. The screen comes on and let’s me sign in however once I have put my password in, it logs me in and then shows and black screen with a still curser. When I click ctrl alt del it comes up with the options, however when I click task manager the screen goes black again. I’ve tried a manual restart and tried a hdmi to another screen and nothing works. I’ve also updated BIOS and it’s still the same. And ideas?

AMD Dual Graphics always uses power saving
I have an HP Pavilion - 17z Touch Laptop, model# M7E01AV. I've always had a feeling dual graphics were not functioning correctly, but with the recent windows update that shows graphics card usage per card, I know it's not functioning. I'd used GPU-Z in the past as well, however I always wondered if maybe it was just not working correctly. Interesting side note, I can get crossfire to work at times, however the performance is terrible. I have set all my options to High Performance, however when looking in the Radeon Settings control panel at the monitor, it says any application I run is running in power saving mode. This can be seen in the Task Manager, as all applications are running on the R7 integrated GPU. The system is equiped with an A10 extreme edition w/ R7 Graphics and an AMD M360 discreet graphics card. Under AMD's Radeon settings I have Dual Graphics on, and then crossfire disabled for individual applications. It's my understanding that setting said applications to High Performance should use the M360. I've even gone as far as to create a High Performance power plan where everything runs at maximum for both plugged in and battery. This has had no effect. My current Radeon software version is 17.2.1 with a driver version of 21.19.519.2 for both GPUs. If I try to use anything higher, the drivers will not work unless CSM is turned on, and Secure Boot is disabled in the BIOS. Note that all drivers used were/are WHQL signed drivers. I can only assume the newer driver not working have to do with HP doing something screwey in the BIOS and that they need to release an updated one. This computer is not that old and should still be supported more than it is. The drivers found on the support page are over versions and also meant for systems with lower specs than mine (R5 GPUs) I've tried them all and they either fail saying my system is not supported, or they install the incorrect drivers, notably a 365DX driver for the M360. This should be a really good system for what I want to use it for, provided I can get it to work like it's supposed to.

So I have this same issue when attaching a monitor using HDMI. The laptop screen goes to background only and the external monitor stays black. I know the external monitor becomes primary because if I unplugged it from the laptop i can see the personalization screen go from 2 to 1 montiors. How can I manually change it so one remains primary? Or just make the HDMI port work correctly.

Screen flashing
For quite some time now my computer screen while on google chrome has flashed off and then stayed black for a few seconds then comes back on. The whole screen goes black except for my dashboard at the bottom of the screen. it isnt really a flashing because it doesnt do it back to back but a few minutes apart. When i had the hp support app opened on my screen the google chrome web browser went black but i still saw the hp support app and my dashboard fine. so im guessing its an issue with google chrome. Advice on what to do?
