Heey guys,

Im proud owner of an HP Spectre X36015 CH020nd.

This is a notebook with the Vega M GPU inside.

Im having issues with it. when i look in the taskmanager it doesnt get utilized at all. When starting a game or demanding anything GPU related it's all on the Intel GPU.

I have tried to disable the Intel GPU, then start a game then everything is like a slide show. proberly less that 1 FPS.

I just updated my BIOS, to the newest version and updated my graphic card drivers. it didnt work before and it doesnt work now.

I have no clue whats happening, it should run most games on FHD on max settings atleast on 60+ FPS.

First question,

Are there more people who experience this issue?

Second question,

How can i fix this?

Pavilions have METAL or PLASTIC chassis?

Probably the most difficult information to find about a model is if the chassis is METAL or PLASTIC? Often it's impossible to tell just from the images, especially silver.

I used to have an HP Pavilion that had an almuminum chassis, but did they start making plastic ones again? Why can't they just state this on the specifications?

Are Pavilions all metal now? How can I tell online?

Firmware for Touchscreen

Hello

I bought an HP Active Pen but unfortunately it was not recognised by my HP Pavilion X360. I've looked online for a solution and came across another forum, suggesting to update the touchscreen firmware including a direct link to it.

Having in mind all the well advertised HP recovery tools, I've to give it a try and installed the sp79862.exe. It ended up with an inverted input reaction on the touch screen. Touching the lower right corner gives a feedback on the upper left corner and vice-versa. Only the approximately middle of the screen shows the feedback there.

Checking the hardware via HP Hardware Diagnostics in the EFI (F2 during bootup), shows exactly the same misbehaviour. Conclusion: The FW for the touch screen is corrupted. Unfortunately again, the recovery tools seems no to offer any firmware backup. Also on the support page for my model 14-ba190nz, there is no firmware available.

Can anyone might help me to find the particular firmware for this model? I guess it is sharing the touch screen type with other models out of the X360 Pavilion line as well.n

Hope I dont' have to wait six months like in a very similar case to get the firmware or an update on it like in this previous case:  Touch screen firmware

Also I would like to avoid to send in my device just for re-flashing the firmware.

Thanks for any help.

Display briefly freezes when when opening or closing some programs

Ocassionaly when closing/opening certain programs the display will freeze for about 0.5 - 1.0 seconds, ususally with the program's window partially finished with the open/close animation.

This issue is similar to the issue mentioned on a forum post on the intel community website: https://communities.intel.com/thread/119093

I have attached a screen capture showing an example of this issue. If you watch the spinning circle in the lower left you can see when the display freezes. This can be found at the bottom of this post.

To fix this begavior, I have tried:

  • Updating the AMD video driver to the latest version
  • Updating the Intel video diver to the latest version
  • Updating the BIOS/Firmware of the computer to the latest version

Some of the programs that can cause this behavior are:

  • Opening/closing Google chrome
  • Closing Microsoft Office applications
  • Opening/closing certain microsoft apps

I have been able to duplicate this issue on multiple HP ZBook 15u G5 laptops with the following configuration:

  • Windows 10 Professional Version 1803, build 17134.112
  • Intel i7-8550U processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Radeon Pro WX 3100 (Discrete/Hybrid) GPU

A workaround I have found to this problem to stop the freezes is to disable the integrated graphics driver (Intel HD 620), but this is not an ideal solution because it prevents the switchable graphics from working as intended and can decrease

battery life.

Possible graphics card problem with HP Notebook?

Hey guys,

I am currently facing problems with my laptop and I need some help and ideas on ways to fix this. The link below shows a massive screen error that displays a strange glitch where the screen gives a strange twitch and eventually resets. This happens most frequently whenever I take my laptop to other places outside my room and then place it back onto my main desk. Below shows a video of this exact problem:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxHHaM-3Zl4&feature=youtu.be

Some say that it could be a graphics card problem. If so then my warranty is only just still valid for only the next few weeks. I don't know if its worth using or maybe I should look for solutions to fix this myself.

P.S., my apologies for the poor video quality. I took this with my iPhone and do not really upload videos on Youtube.

Any help and ideas would be great.

HP Notebook vertical screen line issue

HP Envy x360 Screen Flashing

$

It's only been three days since this I had this laptop and will most likely be the last HP product I buy (bought a Probook 450 G3 for college and it died on me in a year. The 1-year went up went it died, so you can imagine how aggrevated I was). Anyhow, bought a new one for schoole and here's the issues I've been noticing.

For some reason, my screen will either pixelate Youtube browser videos when I switch tabs (this happens if I switch from mutliple tabs quickly, but sometimes happens when I don't) or my entire screen will go black for about a second before returning to normal (affects audio as well if watching Youtube. Not certain about music apps yet).  This doesn't restart my laptop, but there have been times where Chrome would be closed when I  reopen my laptop; not certain if this is related to my current issue or not, but the bottom line is my display is acting up.  It doesn happen frequently, but it's often enough to be noticeable and worry me about it's potentioal lifespan.

As for solutions, the laptop is up to date with the current drivers; at the time of writing, it updated to the Windows 10 v1803 drivers and the issue still persists. Restarting the computer hasn't done anything yet, either.  Lastly, I tried messing with the Radeon Vega Graphics settings, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem, either.

If anyone can point me to the right direction, I'd very much appreciate it. Need this laptop for school as there's a lot of programming I need for my Degree.

HP Active Stylus requires very hard press to register on Spectre x360 13 ae094nz...

I have a new HP Spectre HP Spectre Convertible X360 13 ae0xx and the touchscreen works fine and is perfectly sensitive to my fingers.

However the HP Active Stylus that came with it requires a very hard press in order to consistently register a solid line when drawing. If I do not press hard, I get dotted and broken lines. In fact it requires a hard press to do almost anything such as select and press and drag etc.

The one I used in the store didn't seem to have this problem. If I draw with my finger it is fine. The stylus is fully charged and otherwise seems to work fine.

What can I do to improve this?

The wife's keyboard all of a sudden prevented her from using the key @.

She just showed me it and double quotes kept coming up  "  .

So I  hit the "  key   and  @  came up.

She is happy now.

But

How does one change it back to normal.  She doesn't twiddle so how it happened I have no idea.

She is not sure if she is on 32 or 64 bit Windows 10.

Any advice?
