The graphics drivers in the drivers page are quite old

The graphic drivers provided for my laptop 15 ay-516tx on the drivers page are rather old (about as much as 6 months old). I checked the AMD website and found that much newer drivers are available on it. If I download the graphics driver for my AMD card from the AMD website, will it work on this laptop to its best?

Hello, 

I've ordered HP Spectre x360 convertible P/N 1WU65AV  (New) from Amazon, 

 

The work space contains:
HP Spectre laptop +

7 Port USB HUB(Wired Mouse+Wired Keyb+phone) +

24" Dell Monitor connected to Laptop with Type C to HDMI. 
so it is works always with closed LID. 

 

After few days it started acting strange, i mean cursor started jumping and clicking at random areas. 

 

The worst thing is that cursor jumps/clicks start not always, I cant exactly identify but i ve noticed that it starts more often when i wake up pc from sleep

I have updated almost all the drivers and Firmwares from HP Site (Chipset, TouchPad, Video...); have scaned with few Antivirus Softwares.
Disabled Pen driver, Disabled Touch Screen_ 0 Result

One more notisable thing, As soon as it start jumping i open a lid very slightly,  just few milimeters (whitout letting laptop screen to turn on) and the cursor stops. 

Because of this fact i think there is some problem with TouchPad, but i am not sure by 100%. 

 

One more bad thing is that the laptop belongs to the CFO of our company and very uncomfortable for her to work. 

I have read many topics regarding this problem since 2015, Big Shame On HP , as they have not solved these problems on Spectre series yet!

Hope HP will give me the sollution

i can't open my built in cam on my laptop. i try to uninstall the driver and install again but nothing happen. i try to install cyberlink cam(because i don't have one) but nothing happen. i also try to open it thruogh web but it only leave me an orange screen.can someone know something so i can open my camera. thank you in advanced and i do appreciate it guys.

My laptop outside shell of the screen is coming loose and I still have 22 days of warranty on it and I want to get it fixed, But how do I use the warranty?

New Thunderbolt 3 firmware needed for P870DM, else RMA

BIOS updated. Chipset updated. Thunderbolt driver updated. Thunderbolt firmware can't be updated, as there is no new firmware for this board available (current version is NVM 10.00). As a result, the Accelerator is not detected and is completely dead. This is not what I was promised: the advert says it works on any laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 connection. I'm making one last effort by contacting Clevo directly to see if they really don't have newer firmware, but if not, I will have no choice but to ask for an RMA. Oh, and I'll need to find a way to return that 1080 Ti card I fitted in. So much pain, so many procedures to go through before I can get my money back.

 

HP has more power and options than I do: if there's any way you can get me that firmware, there won't be any need for an RMA and everybody will be happy. 

 

What a waste. I was so looking forward to this.

Laptop hinge failure

My laptop, still with 4 months of warranty remaining, had the hinge crack the screen when I opened the lid.  It has never suffered any impact and has never been dropped.  I just opened the lid and the screen broke.  I have no idea why such a thing would happen, but it did.  I have owned close to a dozen laptops over the past decade.  I work professionally in the computer field and have since  1987 when I first started working for Apple, so I know my way around a system.  I even worked on Apple's first laptop (the "luggable") when it was still on a plank of plywood.  But I have never seen something like this occur.  Clearly, the mount point for the lid hinge was inadequate for the force required to open the lid and when it failed, the hinge went right through the screen.

 

I submitted the laptop to HP support by sending it in via the shipping box that was sent to me.  HP has now sent me a "quote" to fix the laptop of over $700.  This is unacceptable.  When I called Customer Service today to find out why they are not covering this under warranty, when it is a clear case of a failure due to quality or workmanship, the support representative said (when I could understand what she was actually saying) that since the screen cracked, they would not cover it.  If the screen had not cracked, they would have fixed the hinge.  Apparently, the screen cracking is grounds for denying warranty service.  I'm sorry, but I cannot accept that. 

 

I have read the entire Limited Warranty as pertains to HP laptops and nowhere do I see where it excludes cracked screens or where cracked screens nullify the warranty.  This was clearly a case of defective parts or workmanship.  It should not have done this.  The mounting point for the hinge was substandard and could not withstand the force required to overcome the spring tension in the hinge. 

 

Considering that I work professsionaly in the computer field as a Systems Engineer for a Managed Service Provider, and I make recommendations and purchasing decisions for numerous customers - literally thousands of people ask for my opinion with regard to purchasing hardware - I will see that no one I ever speak with will ever purchase anything from HP after this experience.  A screen cracking is no reason to say that the parts weren't defective.  The cracked screen was a direct result of the defect and should be covered under the warranty.

Blue lines at the bottom of the screen when waking from sleep

Hi everyone,

Every time I turn on my laptop, or wake it up from sleep, it has a blue line all along the bottom of the screen from 1 to 3 pixels high, sometimes flickering, sometimes creating a cross pattern. The line disappears sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after a minute.

The laptop is out of warranty.

 

This is not a driver issue, as the lines appear as soon as the display comes on, even before the OS loads. It shows in UEFI/BIOS, too.

 

I am not interested in contacting HP via phone, I just would like assistance with troubleshooting this, so I can fix it myself.

I just feel sad having paid $700 for this, when new, for  it to only last a while. I could go on about how "my toshiba satellite I've had for 80 years and it never had any problems" and "computers nowadays just aren't made as they used to be, no vaccum tubes" but honestly I just would like to see if this can be fixed to last a few more years.

hp laptop 17-bs1xx will not detect second monitor

When connecting external monitor via HDMI cable laptop acknowledges brand of monitor but does not detect when trying to duplicate or extend... so it knows its there but won't send a signal... Help please! I have uninstalled an replace all the drivers, apparently I have two video adapters Radeon 530 and Intel UHD Graphics 620, it appears to only be using the Intel... I have also after replacing with new drivers, updated to the newest bios.... still doesn't detect....

Touch pad, how do I disable it while typing?

While touch-typing, as a casual sweep of a finger will destroy work in strange ways.   I am a mouse user, and 78, with an unwelcome shake in my hands (you can't fix that).  Past laptops have provided the user with a function key that would allow the touchpad to be switched on or off.  I need that ability.  Help, and thanks. 

3D playback 2311gt 3D monitor

I have the above HP 3D monitor and a NvidiA 310GT 3d VIDEO CARD. When I first purchased the monitor I could playback 3D movies with no problem (Using PowerDVD software) and using windows 7. I upgraded my operationg system to windows 10, but have never tried playing 3D movies again until recently and when I go to settiings under PowerDVD 10 the 3D setting is greyed out and the screen indicates I need a 3D montor, 3D graphics card aND 3d BLU RAY PLAYER. i HAVE ALL 3 BUT CANNOT PLAY 3d. cAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE?

Laptop screen doesn't display anything-except HP logo on occasion

Hello, this issue started really randomly and I'm not too sure what could've triggered it. When ever I try to start up my laptop, it turns on but there isn't any display- it's pitch black. One thing however is that there are a few occasions where after restarting the device over and over again, I was able to display the HP logo. When this happens, the device is completely frozen and isn't able to move past the screen. Anyone have any idea what this could mean? The laptop actually had issues in the past where it couldn't run on the newest version of windows without freezing, so it is currently running windows 10 1511(I believe). Any help is truely appreciated. If no trouble shooting steps can be provided, just an idea of where the problem could lie would help substantially.

Brightness keys on Probook 450 G5 not working

Since I updated to the latest windows os, my brightness keys don't work.

 

I've tried all the other methods such as hotkey support (that won't install), updating drivers and checking to see if the Generic PnP monitor is disabled but they don't solve my problem.

 

So, if anyone has any idea on how to fix this that would be great.

Blurred screen

Hello,

 

after installed Bios update recommended by Hp Support Assistant I have problems to get my eyes focused on screen and letters, like a strange "blur" effect. Another problem is the white of the background that's so strong not normal. 

 

The Hp telephone support guided me to install new driver of AMD Radeon, but the problem gone downhill. 

Now I'm waited him second call at 10:00 am but nothing happened, and I found ticket closed. 

 

Please help me, the notebook is new and It was ok when I first started only some weeks ago. 

 

 

My laptop don't start. Only HDMI conect can start.

Hello everyone...About 3 years of use...my laptop crush, namely dont start normaly(win 10). after 10 minutes of brake(les power cord and battery) start for few seconds and stops.

The laptop configurations is: CPU intel i5-5200U, 4 Gb RAM, SSD Micron/Integral 256 Mb.

Over manny manny try i changed RAM module(to the second slot) and i connected HDMI cable to the LED TV and, surprise, the laptop start and functions normaly, course after aprox 10 minutes paused. If restart doing. If shut down not can start, only 10 minutes paused les battery and AC source.

Why are the brightness and other keys on my keyboard not working?

I did a Bios driver update and don't know if that is the reason for some keys on my keyboard to stop working. I have a HP ENVY m6-k022dx laptop. The brightness keys (f2 & f3) stopped working. They don't do anything when clicked.  I can't control the brightness of my screen anymore. The mute key (f6) when clicked a light on the button turns on and now the light on the key doesn't turn on anymore when in mute. Also the Wifi key (f12) when clicked to turn it off now shows a message on the display that says Airplane mode on instead of just turning off. If clicked again to turn it on says Airplane mode off.  At this point I haven't tried all the other keys to see what else doesn't work but those are some of the ones I use more to notice and need. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I don't know if the Bios driver update had anything to do with it but I still need it fixed. There are no driver updates for my keyboard. How can I fix my Keyboard?
