Does sure view privacy work with Linux?
Hi,
I just purchased an elitebook 850 G5. It's a beautful laptop. I opted to have freedos as the installed operating system rather than windows. I've now installed the latest version of opensuse on the laptop and pretty much everything works out of the box. But the sure view privacy function doesn't work. According to HP's online documentation the sure view function is activated by pressing the fn and f2 keys. But when I do that nothing happens. Is there any way to get it working under linux?

Laptop won't boot with HDMI plugged in
There are two problems:
- (Critical) In UEFI mode (Legacy Support turned off in BIOS) laptop won't boot with HDMI plugged in (Samsung 4K UHD in my case) at all, no matter what OS I use, can't even boot to BIOS. Tried with F.20 and latest F.23.
- In Legacy mode, there is no option to set UMA VRAM size (it defaults to 32MB which is too small) that prevents Linux AMDGPU driver to work correctly with high-resolution displays.
And no, this is not the particular device problem, I have 20 laptops here.
PS: this Insyde BIOS is total garbage, by the way.

HP Probook 470 G5 - Brightness FN keys stopped working - other FN keys are working.
Hello everyone,
Spent 2~3 Hours trying to work this out.
HP Probook 470 G5 -- my volume up, volume down, mute FN keys working fine.
Cannot get my previously working brightness keys to work.
I've tried dozens of random pieces of other peoples advice such has:
Reinstall drivers for both display adapters (fully removing them & software and reinstalling).
Reinstalling drivers for the generic pnp monitor.
setting BIOS back to defaults - then checking for a BIOS update.
Keyboard tests - reinstalling that driver.
I'm stuck, I'm at the point of just factory restore as issue started happening after windows 10 1803 update.
If you got any other suggestions please I'd greatly appricate it!

screen auto-rotation not working on HP Spectre x360 Convertible
Hello,
After last update of windows 10, the auto-rotate option doesn't work anymore.

But the problem is still there, and the Registry looks fine.
I've noticed that that in "Device Manager" I have an issue about the following "Sensor",
- HID Advanced Sensor Collection (in Device Manager)
It gives the following error: “This device cannot start. (Code 10) The process hosting the driver for this device has terminated.”
I guess this might be related with auto-rotation problem.

windows 10 hdmi driver missing since update
Since Windows 10 update, I've been unable to get sound through HDMI. The option is missing. Apparently, windows changed the display driver during update. I've tried all drivers from HP support, and they are incompatible. My 6450b originally came with Windows 7 but upgraded to Windows 10. What is the proper driver for this notebook?

HP Spectre x360 touchscreen problems

What wil it cost to replace my touchscreen? I have an HP Spectre laptop. It's out of warranty. I bought it new from Best Buy several years ago. I have no idea how to tell you the model # or product number because whatever labels it had are gone. I have not discovered how to identify these numbers in the software, and the methods described on this forum for ascertaining this information do not seem to work on this computer.
Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. As a deeply loyal HP customer ( I bought one, right?) I'll be looking for a response within the next five years or so.

Compatable screen assemblies.
I have an HP Pavilion X360 13-s128nr that has a cracked ditizer. would I be able to swap out the complete display assembly( digitizer, LCD, bezel, and top cover) with one from an x360 13-s161nr? I have looked the parts up on Parts surfer and found that the part numbers are only one number off. The display assembly for the 13-n128nr is 809833-001 and the 13-s161nr is 809832-001. I know the resolution is different in the screens and for what it is used for, that will not make a difference. The plugs are on the correct sides and look to be the correct size. The hinges also look to be a match.
Will I be able to swap the entire top half of the laptop with the other?

Keyboard keys getting stuck but not physically

My 1 key on the far right keypad not working in most applications
When I turn my HP laptop on, I can use the 1 key on my keypad to sign in. After that, it is the only key on my entire keyboard that does not work. When in excel, if I hit it, it opens powerpoint. All other keys work including the 1 key that is the main numbers above the top row of letters.
It does this on my wireless keyboard as well as the numbers pad on the laptop itself. I have tried googling this for some time and can't figure it out.
One more thing...in most apps, the curser is blinking waiting for the next key stroke. When I hit the 1 key, the curse is not longer blinking and it unhighlights the app I am in on my tool bar. Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense...I am not very technical and my wording is probably going to confuse most!!

HP ProBook 450 G5 function keys for dimming don't work.
This is a brand new HP ProBook 450 G5. I let it do all its updates.
The function keys for dimming the display don't work.
I've updated all the video drivers and bios. Its updated itself to the 1803 build of windows.
I've chatted with HP support. No luck.
Hotkey update says its newest version already.
The internet is full of people with the same problem.

Screen display goes black when it is touched
Recently, when using my pc, the screen start to turn bend.After inspecting i notice my laptop screen turn black when i tilt it backward , the display came back when i tilt it slightly forward.Please help me

HP 15 Spectre x360 - 15-ch010nd - display - glossy or matte?
Am side-by-side comparing various laptops (various trademarks, same pricerange and same specifications) and wonder whether the HP 15 Spectre x360 - 15-ch010nd has a glossy or matte display.
Can't find an answer on that. Am a bit afraid for reflections in a bright room.

Notebook comes on with wite screen
My Notebook recently started up with a partial white and black screen then turned completely white, and it now consistently starts up as a well lit completely white screen. Tested the HDMI on an external monitor and the laptop worked fine. I also checked the video cable wire which seems to be well intact. I checked another wire (small, black, single incased) on the opposite side from video wire that runs from the base, through right hinge , along inside right edge of computer casing, to the top right edge, and attaches to to a small strip of circuit board attatached to the casing at the top right just behind the screen. The wire seems frayed where it loops through the hinge. What is this wire and circuitry for? I found a lot of repair tutorials for similar problems but they all focused on the video wire and video card which seem to be fine in my case.. Is this frayed little black wire most likely the culprit? Thanks

Permanent unistall of Touch screen
I can disable touch screen using Device Manager which solves the problem until a major W10 update reinstalls it.
To disable it again is very problematic as the touchscreen causes a very erratic mouse and ghosting and lost control.
If I uninstall using Device Manager, Touchscreen is re-installed on computer at boot up (startup).
Advice will be appreciated.

Active Pen-Stylus
Does this model Spectre support Active Pen / Stylus? Cannot find anywhere on line. Had had 2 HP support people tell me know, one told me yes. I just need to know, and if it does, which pen does HP recommend.

Does not auto rotato or recognize tablet mode cannot install Integrated sensor solution drivers
The auto rotate and tablet detection does not work on my spectre x360. When I attempt to update the drivers for the instegrated sensor solution, I get an error message that says "the platform is not supported." I recently did a clean install of windows in an attempt to fix with no luck.
