SCREEN CRACKED Envy m6

Hi there

I'm just wondering what your end result was with this issue.  I've owned my Envy x360 for not even 4 months, and my screen just randomly cracked on its own 2 nights ago. I contacted HP Support, and have been given the same run around.  I can ship my computer to them for a free analysis, but if they decide the damage is "accidental", then I have to pay $99 to get my computer back, or over $400 to have the screen replaced.

Clearly this issue has been ongoing for at least 5 years. If you do a search on "cracked screen" HP Support (where I found your message), there are 41 web pages filled with messages from other people that have experienced this same issue.

This is NOT OKAY, and HP needs to step up and accept responsibility for creating faulty products.

HP Support Assitance is useless

HP Support Assistance shows that my Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Drivers sp85248 is available for my notebook model (previously identified by the site).

After downlonding this driver my computer shows a error message saying that my notebook does not support this driver.

This and my contonuous problems with my touch screen make think that something really bad was done when my HP laptop was designed/manufactured.

There are two options: 1) The HP Support Assitance is wrong or 2) My laptop is a shame.

WARPED BASE

I have a HP ENVY 15 laptop that is just over 2 years old. Model -Envy 15as050tu.

Have just noticed when closing the screen down onto the keyboard area there is approx 5mm gap in the middle along the front edge.

When looking across the front edge of the base it has a decent warp in base.

The laptop is in excellent condition, never been dropped or damaged.

Other than sitting on my lap when used it is always stored on a flat desk.

I am a bit concerned it will get worse over time and possibly cause other issues.

When you spend $2500.00 AUD you would expect pretty good quality. A bit dissapointed.

Any help would be appreciated.

screen rotation out of whack

Hello all,

I replaced the cracked LCD Display Touchscreen Assembly on my HP ENVY x360 (model m6-ar004dx ). I used OEM HP Part Number 844164-AA0, which is the correct part for my model, and meticulously disassembled/reassembled all compenents.  I was elated to have a beautiful display again.  However, the excitement was short-lived.  I am experiencing an odd behavior with display rotation.  When I power on the laptop, it automatically goes into tablet mode when it is sitting on a flat and level surface.  The display auto-rotates to the portait orientation and the keyboard and mouse are disabled.  When the PC is in tablet mode, I am able to use the touch screen normally.  I navigate to the dispaly settings and turn off the rotation lock and set the orientation to Landscape.  The display orients properly but the keyboard and mouse are still not active.  The display will revert to its normal landscape orientation when I close the lid and open it.  This works most of the time but sometimes it doesn't.

Is it possible that I did not install something properly (i.e. reversed a connection)?  Did I damage a compenent during installation?  Maybe a setting is incorrect?  Do I need to update any drivers?  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Touch disabled for 2 seconds after using the ntrig pen (surface pen or hp pen)

So the tablet disables touch input for a few seconds after the pen is used. This is extremely frustrating when trying to make notes and I need to scroll along the page. In a lecture this is very time costly. I have witnessed you guys making a firmware update for the 15 inch version of this laptop, but you still don't make one for the 13 inch version. I have my exams coming up, I have a surface pro 2017 and a thinkpad with digitisers, as well as a wacom tablet. None of them have this issue. So if you do not fix it, I will return this laptop and advice people against getting it in the future.

Here is someone demonstrating it 9 months ago, still a problem today with this version but not the 15 inch version:

The 15 inch problem solved but not the 13 inch:

HP 22cwa Display won't connect to HDMI signal

I've just received this monitor and I'm trying to connect it to a gaming console via an HDMI cable. Every time I try to connect them, I get a screen indicating the Monitor Status reading: No Signal. After that, it shows the message: Display going to sleep.

I've tried connecting my laptop to the monitor and got the same response, so I'm sure that it's not my console. The HDMI cable that I'm using worked fine with my TV, so I'm not sure if that's the issue.

I've also tried to access the monitor's menu by using the external buttons, but no matter what buttons I press, I get the same screen from before.

In summary, the only thing can do with it is turn it on.

Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I need lcd panels variants (exact panel names by manufacturer for panel) for G5 450

I have one correct serial number - 5CD73980K5. What lcd panel inside?

I did not find anywhere on the HP website the details of the configuration of a particular instance of the product on its serial number, unlike Dell / Lenovo.Where do I get this important information?

How do I find out the "Flicker Free" panel or not and what are the angles of view declared by HP, what is the resource in hours for the backlight? I also found in the product specification that there is an incorrect covarage for color space, there are no panels with 45% sRGB in 15.6" class, sometimes made with 45% CIE1931 (NTSC). It equal 55-57% sRGB, not less. The staff is very negligent in their duties and does not provide complete and highly critical data to choose from when buying.

And I have a question - why did HP do this stupid and put USB2.0 on the left, without giving a single/double USB3.0, although most people on the planet are right-handed? As a result, the right-hander is extremely inconvenient to work with the connected cable in the RJ45, although it could be moved to the left or even put one USB3.0 on the left, especially since the PCH for this series of processors has 6 USB3.0 inside the line via QPI bus, of which in G5 450 are busy only 3 pieces. Could not you have built 2 USB3.0 or USB3.0 + usb-c connectors on the left?
Why was it so stupid and unsuccessfully done? Left-handed minimal number among people on planet, but this model is obtained for left-handed people? And why then there is no such model for right-handers? What a strange discrimination from the R & D department and marketers HP!

Display turns black while playing games and charging

This started happening recently and happened twice. 1st time i was playing fortnite and charging at the same time. After i closed the game my display went black and some horizontal lines would appear randomly like glitching. The 2nd time i was playing another game while charging and this time it happened while i was still in the game. I unplugged my laptop and the screen turned on again. Both times was using different sockets for charging but the same charger was used. I would appreciate if someone could help me with it.

P.s. I have been playing games while charging for about a year now and this never happened before

Mouse pad driver issues

Hi All

My mouse pointer is going haywire. I can't really do anything as it is erratic when I try and move it then when I try and double click on something it's off over the other side of the screen. It is not the speed of it as I uninstalled the driver and it was still the same then downloaded a new driver and it was fine. For a few hours then went back to its old tricks. Did it again uninstalled the driver and again re-installed it and was fine for a few hours. Then back to its old tricks again.

What can be going on with it?

 Any help please?

          Thanks in advance Mike

Touchscreen Scrolling with Too Much Momentum; Cursor Erratic When Pointing and Clicking

$

This is a new problem.  I have had no problems with this computer for over a year until this week. I have added no new apps.  Windows 10 did recently do an OS Update.

When I scroll the screen using touch, the screen shoots fast with too much momentum.  I have no control of the amount scrolling unless I drag my finger, which can accidentally cause the right-click menu to appear.

When I use my cursor for fine pointing or clicking, the cursor bounces around instead of holding still.

I HAVE TRIED ALL THE OFFERED SOLUTIONS on the "Display and Touchscreen Troubleshooting" page and nothing worked. (BTW, Microsoft has changed some of the settings to be accesed by a user in their latest version of Win10, so some suggestions in this Troubleshooter are no longer relevant.)

I have gone into the Touchpad set-up and adjusted the clicking pointing sensitivities, it did not help.
