I just purchased an Hp 17z laptop that I have customized with the following specs

  • AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P APU (2.7GHz, up tp 3.6 GHz burst frequency, 2 MB cache) + AMD Radeon R7 Graphics
  • 8 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
  • 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
  • DVD - Writer
  • 3 - cell, 31 Wh Lithium-ion Battery
  • 802.11b/g/n (1x1)
  • 17.3" diagonal HD+ SVA WLED-backlit touch screen (1600 x 900)
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • Full-Size island-style backlit keyboard with numeric keypad (ash silv)
  • HP Truevision HD Camera with Digital Microphone

I am wondering if this model has facial recognition as well as does it support the use of a pen stylus?

Touchpad not scrolling

Hello,

I have updated my notebook's OS to Windows 10 long ago and encountered problems with the touchpad: the 2 fingers gesture to scroll windows wouldnt work.  At that time i found a solution by running version 18.1.7.16 of my touchpad's driver.

Unfortunately i had to reset my notebook and lost all the data i had, and now i cant find driver 18.1.7.16 anywhere on the internet.

Does anybody have a source for this driver or any other alternative solution to the problem?

Thanks in advance

No Display But Backlight On

Hello all,

I've got an Envy 17 Notebook model 17t-j100.  When I power it on, the backlight comes on, but there is no display.  I can connect to an external monitor and the display comes up fine on the external monitor.  What I've gathered so far is that it may be an inverter board that went bad.  Is this correct?  If so, can someone provide me with the part number?

Thanks,

Ferdie

I have the laptop and the problem, with parts of the touchscreen bubbled underneath the outer layer of the screen, although in my case the screen doesn't ever start working again. The problem happened very soon after the one year warranty expired.

Seems to be a product defect.

HP Zbook 17 G3 - screen flickers

Hello,

I have the same problem with 3 HP Zbook 17 G3 notebooks at the customer of mine...

The screen start to flicker at a non specific time... If  you wait a few minutes, it solves itself. Sometimes a reboot is necessary.

I've updated the graphic drivers (manually - via HP support assistant) and BIOS.

The 3 persons work a lot with Solidworks 2016.

Is this a known issue and more important, how to solve this?

hi, i have bought new HP OMEN with GeForce 1050, before i was using HP Probook i3 with ATI graphic card, so everything is cool but one thing bothers me. When i watch movie online the video runs very dark, hardly see scenes which were shot in darkness. I increased brightness but it didn't solve darkness generally, at my old or ar many laptops video is clean and bright, help me please how to adjust because with system default settings its very dark.

Also i have intel graphics too in laptop and when you up brightness of video in intel graphic settings it affects only video running by Windows media player not online video

Tilt Pen drawing wavy lines/won't draw on left screen region. Spectre X360

I'm having a problem with my new Spectre laptop and Tilt Pen.

The pen will not draw in the left hand couple of inches of the screen although the pen registers on the digitizer (ie the hover cursor is visible)

Furthermore, when drawing near to the top of the screen, the pen becomes erratic and produces wavy lines (like frequency lines) instead of straight smooth lines.

I have been through HP support and updated everything - no improvement. I can draw perfectly with my finger which led the support operative to conclude that the pen, rather than the computer, was the issue, however I am having the same problems with the a replacement pen.

Can anyone help with this issue as I really don't want to return it - its otherwise a beautiful machine in every way.

Touchpad stuck after new palmrest

After almost a month in repair I got back my ProBook yesterday with a new motherboard, a new hdd and a new palmrest.
The least of my problem is that the laptop seems slow, but what is a greater problem that the mouse gets stuck in the middle of using it. It doesn't matter whether I'm loading something or just scrolling on an already loaded page it just keeps freezing for a couple of seconds then works again.

Background of the problem: before I took it to service the computer got stuck the second it got into Windows, it also became absolutely unresponsive while the mouse was working. I also got a blue death that wiped out everything. After a week in service and a new motherboard and a Windows installed by the service the same problem occured. I took it back, they changed hdd and the palmrest and now the touchpad has issues.

Thanos for any help!

17 " HP ENVY RIGHT HAND HINGE AND CRACKED SCREEN

Update to my HP Envy 17" broken hinge problem

As with previous customers complaints regarding the HP Envys broken hinges- as HP and TEAMKNOWHOW - CURRYS- have refused to fix the hinge problem   my screen has now cracked.

So I have finally decided to take team know how/Currys to small claims court under the British consumer act 2015 in which the consumer has upto 5/6 years to complain if something can be proven not to be of unsuitable standard, so far they have made me write letters, then get written report from a repair center which costs £25, fill in questionairs, pay for the court costs £60 plus all the time it takes to sort this out.

I will post the result of the court case soon.

The one thing I know is that I will never EVER purchase another product manufactured by HP and I will never ever by a product from CURRYS TEAM KNOW HOW AGAIN.

Touchscreen Not Functioning in Windows 10

Hello HP Support Community,

I recently purchased an HP Elitebook x360 G2 1030.  The touchscreen hasn't functioned inside of Windows since day 1.  The touchscreen does work in BIOS.  HP Component Test detected the touchscreen and the touchscreen passed the different tests.

BIOS has been updated to the latest version for the computer.  I also reset the computer using the HP Cloud Recovery option listed on the support page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-x360-1030-g2/14169372

I have attached photos of the device manager, Wacom driver install error, and computer information page.

Memory leak in camera driver for Spectre x360

$

0

We've identified an apparent memory leak with the latest driver for the camera on our Spectre x360 laptops. We have many of these units and the same issue is evident across them. It is not isolated to a specific unit.

To reproduce:

1. Ensure running Windows 10 1709, 64-bit. All updates current.

2. Install latest driver for "HP TrueVision FHD RGB-IR" device (3.6.8.7 as of writing).

3. Open Camera app included in Windows.

4. Observe the memory usage of "svchost.exe (Camera)". In our testing it increases memory usage steadily. After a few hours, multiple GB are consumed, with none released.

Also, if using Skype for Business for video calls, the application will crash about 5 minutes after starting a video call. Memory usage is likewise increasing steadily as soon as video is activated. Audio-only calls do not experience problems.

Current workaround that we've found is downgrading the driver to 3.6.8.0. Memory usage appears stable under this older version, indicating problem was introduced in version 3.6.8.7.

Is this a known issue? If not, we need to ensure this is addressed and a fixed issued. This driver is currently automatically installed from Windows Update, such that the problem is introduced without any action on our part. A fix should be pushed out via Windows Update to repair the problem introduced by this version.

Re: Spectre 13-w0xx touch pad too sensitive

We are having the same ssues with our 2 hp Spectre x360 17 only a couple months old each.

The Touch pad is annoying, it is constantly grabbing web pages as you scroll down the page.

I adjusted the sensitivity down but it doesnt help much, HP  needs to step up with a fix for this issue.

Both our computers are still under warranty and I am considering forcing a repair/replace touchpad claim.

I know they will probably just instal the same faulty unit but if enough computers come in for replacements, it should force them to come up with a fix.

Intel driver crash (minidumps) on Spectre X2 Intel 515 with all recent versions

Problem frequency varies with drivers, I imagine, amusingly the recent spectre and related security fixes have something to do with this.

Issue only happens when video, predominently netflix is full screen and left on for a while.  It is random.  It is always the same error - failure to respond to power interrupt handler timeout, with 9f as the error code.  It was getting unreasonably frequent with the drivers in hp assistant, which are from 2016.  Recent drivers trigger it far less frequently but there is still an issue.  Problem really only started happening after I updated a couple of weeks ago (finally).

.

Many applications this is not an issue on but netflix makes it trip up frequently either via edge or the windows store app.

Screen issue - mouse flickering by itself

$

Hi all,

I have a display issue with my Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ac0XX and I'm looking for some help.

The issue is a little hard to describe - when first turning on the laptop and loading to the lock screen, the mouse appears to be jittering about - as if it is possessed, the mouse will jump randomly to different parts of the screen and won't stop moving around, and any attempts to use the trackpad or USB mouse become difficult. Touch pressure dots also flicker on the screen as if there were pressure on my display. The only luck I have is restarting the laptop and the problem magically disappears. But sometimes when I turn my laptop on again, the problem reappears.

I cannot think for the life of me what is causing this problem. It happens regardless of whether my laptop is plugged in via AC or with any USB device connected.

Any help would be appreciated!

Running two HDMI monitors at the same time

Just got this laptop and I'm trying to connect two HDMI monotors to it.  I plugged one directly into the single HDMI port thats on the machine, but when I go and try to plug an HDMI adapter into the USB Type C port, it doesn't show anything on the 2nd monitor.  I'm using an AmazonBasics USB 3.1 Type-C HDMI Multiport Adapter.  I belive the adapter is working since it bought it new from Amazon, and when I plug a thumb-drive into it, I can access the files.  That said, it still does not output a signal to the monitor.

What am I doing wrong?  Is there a config file that must be modified, or is there a different USB Type C adapter that I must use?

Thanks,

Patrick

Plackback video contrast dicreases automatically

When I turn the video to full screen whether it's online or on the laptop after few seconds the contrast changes, it decreases it becomes light. When I move the cursor it gets back to its original quality. First I thought it is some power saving technique but I have changed my power plan to high performance and still facing the issue.
