get RIGHT screen for pavillion dv9700 c90
I have a pavillion dv970 c90 that I got on ebay. The screen obviously does not match the motherboard.
This is not strictly relevant to this post (skip this paragraph if uninterested), but the specific symptoms are that, when I fire up the unit, the screen has a pretty much normal display on the top half, a horizontal line about halfway down and another copy of the same info taking up the lower half of the screen.
Since this is the wrong part, I need to know how to figure out what the RIGHT part is.
How is this done?
Bear in mind that I am no stranger to the insides of this kind of machine, right down to those rickety ribbon cables that go into the cheapska--er--LIF connectors on the motherboard, and the screws securing the wifi module that aren't covered in the service manual.

My HP Pavilion x360 starts to blow up Black screen.
My HP Pavilion x360 starts to show up a black screen when i'm working on the Microsoft Edge or scrolling down a page using the trackpad 2 finger swipe gesture. It pops up on random time intervals and persists until any action is made on the Trackpad or the Keyboard. It's so frustrating. Had a talk with the support team but the issue hasn't been resolved yet. Need support ASAP.

Video and audio issues
I have a couple different things happening;
When I watch a video in fullscreen, usually after a few minutes it becomes pixellated across the whole screen with large green and purple pixels. At first I thought it could just be microsoft edge, but it happens in google chrome also.
Sometimes when playing a video or resuming it after I had paused it for a bit, there is no sound for a couple seconds. I also hear brief moments of kinda deep stuttering sound sometimes. A couple times it has frozen and become unresponsive when playing a video and this noise kept going. I had to restart it.
It also sometimes turns to a blank white screen and doesn't respond, making me have to restart it.
I got this laptop new last December. My four or five year old laptop had less issues. If these issues cannot be resolved, do I have options for returning or replacing it? I do have a warranty on it.

FPS and CPU Drops Plugged in
Hello,
I received my new HP Pavilion 17-ab301nv on December 2017.
Laptop Specifications: i7-7700HQ - GTX 1050 TI - 12GB RAM - SSD 128GB/1TB HDD
I had many FPS drops and I couldn't find a reason so I returned it to the retailer.
Fortunately, they replaced my laptop with a new one but the problem still occurred and they replaced it again!
Now I have my third Pavilion 17-ab301nv and I still have FPS drops.
The thing that brought me here is that I found the reason why my laptop has FPS Drops.
Monitoring the Pavilion, I found that there are CPU clock drops causing the FPS drops only when it is Plugged in.
The FPS / CPU clock drops happen when I run stressful apps like benchmarks and games (CS GO, Battlegrounds, Dead by Daylight, Battlefield 1). Every 5-10 seconds I have to deal with this problem.
Using the battery, the FPS / CPU clock drops disappear.
I have tried anything to solve this issue but nothing was helpful.
I have:
- tried any bios update (current version F.59 Rev.A)
- tried to change the power plans (changing also the processor power management)
- tried Windows10 1607 1703 1709 versions
- tried to update and make clean installations of all drivers (even though latest drivers from Intel and Nvidia)
- tried to playing with very low graphics
- tried to remove the battery using only the AC Adapter
- tried to disable TurboBoost with ThrottleStop_850 (helped but there were still Drops)
- tried to disableBD PROCHOT
- made the necessary changes on Nvidia Control Panel including "Use my preference
emphasising Performance" - the appropriate AC Adapter (150W)
- run all the HP diagnostics without any problem
- installed games in both SSD and HDD
- monitored if there is any other process that uses my CPU (there was nothing)
- contacted HP Service Support but they didn’t give me a solution
- respectful CPU/GPU temperatures
On the 15th of February, when I found the CPU clock drops, a guy on Support Service agreed with my opinion that it might be a bios problem.
However, my case was closed because there is nothing else that they can do and suggested me to check HP drivers frequently.
Also, they told me that all cases stay in their archive and HP MAY see that issue and release a fix.
I had contacted HP Service Support on December complaining only about the FPS drops on my first laptop, but that case also closed after 2 weeks and nothing have changed since now.
How can this problem be solved? Is something that I missing?
I would be grateful if someone could give me a solution or could make HP to hear me.

Using only the dedicated GPU and completely ignoring the integrated, how to?
What exactly do you mean that the integrated graphics card is system controlled? I would like that everything I do be processed by the dedicated GPU, not the integrated card, especially the windows explorer and other apps (which can not be controlled in the nvidia control panel, the option to put them on the gtx is disabled, why is that?), can I and how can I accomplish this? Also I tried disabling the integrated card in the device manager, but instead that put all the load on it and disabled effectively the gtx, (LoL) why is that? Can I do something similar that works actually? Thank you. Also can I tie the display to the dedicated, since it currently sits on the integrated... I don't like any of this...

mouse pointer is continuously in the background
Hello. After the last update to Win 10, I have the 2 problems.
1) mouse pointer is continuously in the background.
2) the led of the volume on / off button is always without light.
I have updated all the drivers but I have not solved. In "safe mode" the 1st problem does NOT appear.
I also used HP support Assistan without solving. Can someone gime me advice?

HP Spectre x360 Screen Display Problems & Crooked Hinge
My Hp Spectre x360 13 inch is almost 2 months old now and there have been gradual issues with the screen when I leave it idle. In the beginning it started as an intermittent green pixelated line that would appear every now and then. Then, just yesterday it went from a line to the bottom half of the screen turning fuzzy and blue and now about an hour ago, the screen went mostly fuzzy and pixelated. The problem seems to fix itself as soon as I move my mouse but it's becoming steadily worse and frustrating since this is the main laptop that I use for school. I've downloaded all the updated drivers but I don't know if the updates are what's causing the issue or not because before I updated them, I wasn't having any problems.
Another problem I have encountered, as I've seen mentioned before in the forums, is the issue with the crooked hinge. That also started happening rather suddenly so I haven't been able to tent the laptop as it's supposed to be.
I hope I'm not the only one having this issue as well.

What stylus will work well with Spectre Pro X360 G1 on Windows 10
Hello. I have been having a rather frustrating experience finding a stylus that will work with my notebook. The device is a Spectre Pro x360 G1 and I'm running a fully updated version of Windows 10 on it. I would like to know what styluses would be compatible.
I use the device for business and quite often take notes on it or ask for client signatures (via OneNote, primarily).
Any passive stylus seems to be insufficient as the lines that I draw are full of 'gaps' (eg, not continuous lines) and that is not acceptable for signatures. So, I thought an active stylus would fix the issue. I have tried as many as I can get my hands on (ones I can remember include Bamboo Ink and the new Surface Pen) and none seem to work well. Most, when paired correctly, will enable the 'click' functions of the pen (eg, opening a new document or opening Cortana), but will not write on the screen. I've tried all settings I can find (on the pen and on Windows) and can not even make a single line.
I did find one (the Dell stylus) which would make lines on the device and seemed to work okay for a while. Thought my problem was sorted. However, when I was using the device in meetings, I quite often needed to 'wake up' the pen and the only way seemed to be to unscrew the device (removing contact with the battery for a moment) and then screwing it back together. Sometimes this would work, sometimes not. Tried changing batteries, but also not always successful outcomes. Plus the batteries had very little use in them (eg, less than a week of intermittent use, no more than 2 hours total use) and so battery did not seem to be a likely problem. Then, in an accident, the Dell pen was snapped in half. I didn't want to buy another one with such hit and miss success, but I'm not able to get anything else working.
Can someone please offer a thought? I'm not sure if it comes back to a hardware issue (like digitizer on my device) or what.

17" HP Envy Coming apart at the left near screen hinge
I bought an HP envy x360 m6 1 year 2 months back.As it is an expensive laptop I took very good care of it.But for my luck the left hinge broken apart two days back.I didn't even put much pressure on my laptop anytime.Now it gives me a feel like the whole screen will come off on the left side.Its really nothing of my fault.I even never dropped it or done anything to my laptop.Then I googled about the same problem and discovered its really a very common problem with every laptop of this kind from you.I always buys only HP laptops(about 4 as of now) but this thing makes me think about it next time.There is nothing of my fault except a very poor design from you guys.I think you should recall all these laptops.This is unfair.Hope you guys do something about it without escalating it further.
