hp pavilion d7 screen keeps shutting off
hi i have the d7 entertainment laptop and the screen keeps turning of randomly and have hard time getting it to
turn on. i have to close and open it a bunch of times. it will come on at startup and then will shut off, i will close it then open it and it will come on for a second then go off, after doing this a buntch of times it tends to stay on intill it is moved or gets bumped some how. the laptop has no problems loading or starting just this screen issue can anyone please help?

but it keep using the intel
plus i can't find anything in the new hp bios to disable intel graphics
any idea??

Hello
I have a Pavilion dv7 and it has been taking so long to boot up.
I put it on and all I see is a black screen. Then after about ten mins it boots up.
Before it does though, it flashes from color to black screen again. I have to unplug and then replug
for it to start.
Can you tell me if I can get a new card to fix this matter.

No display (Black screen) on my HP presario laptop!!!
Hi, I'm having a problem with the display on my hp laptop. I'm using "HP compaq presario cq70". When I power on my laptop the LED is on. I can see lights on the power button but the lights at the bottom left corner next to power on/off sign (below keyboard) blinks often. I think that sign (next to power on/off sign) with light blinking is an error sign. I'm thinking it might be the graphic card. Last time when I was removing malwares (using malwarebytes) from computer all of a sudden it turned off & when I turn it on there's no display on the screen. Before that I used to get "Kernel data error" most of the time (while I was in the middle of something) & the system used to restart automatically & when it reboots there used to be an error saying "No bootable device found". I used to power on and off several times & the computer boots again. And again after sometime "Kernal data error" and restarts. My laptop used to get hot very fast & I could hear louder noise from the fan (I guess). I've checked my hard drive and ram by using in another computer & it's fine. Also the windows 7 installed in that hard drive was working in another computer. So, I'm thinking the problem might be either with processor, fan or video card.
Can anyone help me plzzz???

Grainy display on windows 8.1
Upgraded my HP pavilion to windows 8.1 and my display has gone awful. Colours are messed up, screen is grainy - I've updated everything I can, cable is fine and not twisted or damaged. I've calibrated colour and resolution and followed all steps!! Help!!!!

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook - only runs in Safe Mode/once turned off won't turn back on for hours
Hi: I'm no techie but have been trying to perform different things on posts- recovery - disc cleanup etc. I don't know what happened but my laptop just started going black once signing in, won't shut down and then won't restart for hours. Have done a hard boot, etc. numerous times - doesn't help. Got it working once in normal mode (after doing F2 and reconfigure). It actually shut down properly and I could turn it back on 15 mins later - only problem was - when I went to sign back in screen went black again.......
Any help (and I need step by step details) you could suggest would be appreciated. Thanks.

switchable graphics (drivers cannot be updated)
Hi,
I bought an HP laptop which was unfortunately equipped with switchable graphics. Now, apparently (for the last few years?) these cards are not supported by the guys who make the drivers.
So... I can't update the drivers. And I'm stuck with the catalyst control center and some drivers from like 2011.
Am I to believe that HP just is going to leave all of us behind in this matter?
I fixed (as in stuck, not corrected) my graphics in the BIOS. That has nothing to do with this. You know what I'm asking, I haven't seen a straight answer on the fourm.
What's up with HP abandoning the people who bought their crap switchable graphics laptops for top dollar and the developers of the graphics card (radeon 6770M) refusing to updae the drivers? Please explain.

amd graphics driver not installing
if you have one of the AMD radeon cards with the crap intel switchable graphics (like the 6770m) your card hasn't been supported since 2011 and all new drivers are not compatible with your hardware.
Basically, HP screwed a huge portion of us. I haven't been able to update my graphics card for 2 years.

Graphics Card problem
My HP Envy M6 has a AMD Redeon Graphics card but ever since I upgraded to windows 8.1, my laptop has only been using the intel HD graphics card which is not that good. Even catalyst controller does not work. Is there anyway that I can change back to my Redeon GPU?

Issue - I can put a DVD in my computer and it plays fine. When I try to play videos that are on yahoo or facebook, it shows
black video screen, but sound is fine.

My HP Recovery CD's did not work. Instead, I installed Win7 Ultimate via DVD on my HP Pavilion dm4t-1100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC which includes the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Graphics Card where I am having problems with my video/graphics because it is not working before the reinstall.
I've attempted to download several graphics drivers from HP's website but none worked where eventually the laptop screen goes blank, displays green colored grids, or just reboots the computer after several driver installation attempts.
In Device Manager under Display Adapters, there are two shown - i.e. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series (Version 13.250.18.0) and Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (Version 6.1.7600.16385) which has the yellow exclamation icon next to it indicating a problem. My laptop graphics works but not able to take full advantage of the graphics card/capabilities - e.g. higher resolution, HDMI, multiple displays, etc. - because it appears my laptop does not have the correct drivers.
Please advise on how to get my graphics/video to work optimally again.
