I was using the laptop for normal word processing and the battery was running low and went into hibernate mode. I plugged in the charger and the screen went a brown colour on rebooting and then went black although the PC was still running as the fan was on and lights were flashing.
I was able to plug in an external monitor to carry on using the PC and I have tried multiple troubleshooting including checking if it was a driver issue or BIOS issue and I’ve also reset it to manufacture settings to no avail. Since the PC has the battery enclosed I’ve had to take the back off to perform the other troubleshooting regarding booting up the PC with the battery disconnected but it’s not worked.
I’ve took it to a PC repair shop who have diagnosed that the PC screen is damaged beyond repair and was most likely caused by the battery short circuiting the screen when it rebooted. They stated a screen replacement is what is required which would cost around half of what the laptop was bought for. I’ve had a look online and can see that the model of my laptop was involved in a recall for problems with the battery to which I wasn’t aware.
Seeing as though this is what has caused the screen to become faulty beyond repair I would like HP to replace the screen and battery on my PC, despite the warranty being out by a couple of months.
This is not something which the consumer should have to rectify after having the product a little over a year when there has been no fault by the user and clearly there is a manufacture fault.
If if someone from HP can direct me towards fulfilling this request that would be helpful, thanks.
