Touchpad is not working / driver not found

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my touchpad. First of all, it does not work properly. That means, whenever I want to use it, it does not show any input (probably because it isn't even active). Secondly, which is the cause of all this, my Synaptics Touchpad driver is not working - or rather it is completely missing from my laptop.

This issue has now been terrorizing me for almost two / three weeks. I now have to transport and use a mouse whenever I want to work with my laptop, simply because the touchpad is unusable.

What I think is the cause of this problem are the newest windows updates that I installed at exactly the time point, when this problem occured. But I did not notice the problem itself, until I unplugged my mouse and tried to work with my touchpad.

As I already mentioned, my laptop is a HP Pavilion [ab006ng].


Error messages and proof:


(Picture 1) First of all, when I go to Mouse > Properties it shows me this message. Roughly translated "No connecion to touchpad-driver possible. If another driver is already installed, press 'yes' to remove the Synaptics-driver. You then have to reinstall the touchpad-driver for the external device.

 

Do you wish to remove the Synaptics-driver now?"

 

(Picture 2) After that, it allows me to take a look at the mouse properties. What you can see here is that the button / window for my touchpad is missing. So there is no option to even turn it on.

 

 

 

 

 

 

(Picture 3) Thirdly, when I go to the device manager, it shows me some kind of error for my Touchpad-driver [error code 24: device not working properly, unavailable or some drivers are missing]. I can click on it and try to activate it (doesn't work), manually update drivers (already tried, see below) or look at the event history.

 

Solutions I tried to fix the issue: 

 

I already tried some things on my own, but they did not fix the issue at all.

First of all, I tried to reinstall / update the driver multiple times and then either let windows install it or do it manually (I downloaded the drivers both from the Synpatics page and the HP support page specific for my laptop model).

I also tried to remove the driver and install it fresh.

I performed a hard reset on my laptop.

I tried activating my touchpad with a gesture.

 

Let UEFI diagnose my display / touchpad, but obviously it can't work, because I can't move or use my touchpadt at all => can't perform the test.

 

I hope anyone can help me with this issue.

Elitebook 840 G4 monitor with yellow tint

I just got my new laptop today and the screen seems to have a yellow tint to it.

 

First I use the graphic driver from HP official site which dated around Jan 2017, no go. Then I get the latest version from Intel which is dated Oct 2017 yet still didn't resolve the yellow tint issue.

 

Any solutions for this?

Continually going to sleep

As subject, recently the laptop has started going into sleep mode after only moments of inactivity.

 

This is despite all power settings having been returned to default,  & even with sleep set to "never".

 

The power settings appear to have no effect, it still sleeps when not supposed to.

 

All updates have been applied.

 

This is very annoying!

 

 

 

Resolution Trouble with PC and Envy 27 4k

I can't seem to get the resolution this monitor set up properly. I have a ThinkPad T470s that I bought this year, running Win 10 64-bit, with Intel HD Graphics 620, and I'm connected to the monitor via HDMI. I have the HP software for the monitor installed. The highest resolution Windows will allow me to use is 2560x1600, which is the "recommended" setting. This, however, is a different aspect ratio than the monitor's resolution (3840x2160). In the Windows display properties, I can choose 2560x1440, which is the same 1.7778 ratio as the monitor, but I end up with a significant letterbox, chopping approximately .75 inches from the top and from the bottom. My Mac runs great on this monitor, but I bought it primarily for use with PC. I do a fair bit of graphic design work on my PC, so it's critical that I'm not creating skewed images. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Multiple External Displays with x360 15" (15-BL100) and HP 65w TB3 Dock

Using the new Spectre x360 (15-BL100 8th gen intel) and cannot get 2 external displays working on the HP Thunderbolt 3 65W dock.  One monitor (Dell P2715Q 4k monitor) is connected via display port (monitor) and USB-C (Thunderbolt port on dock).  The other (Dell U2414H   HD monitor) is connected via Display port (both monitor and dock).  On first connection, only the smaller HD dell came on.  on reconnection, only the 4K dell turned on (and operating at 4k 60hz).  I cannot get both montiors to turn on, only the larger Dell turns on.

 

Please note:

1. I've switched the display port for the small HD dell to the other dipslay port on the dock.  no change

2. I've READ ALL THE USER GUIDES FOR ALL PRODUCTS. do NOT link them to me and propose that as a solution here!

3. This exact same setup was working on a Lenovo (yoga 920) with no issue on a different Startech dock.  There's absolutely no issue with the monitors

My touchscreen sometimes works and then after a bit, it just doesn't do anything. I'll be tapping and swiping away and nothing happens. Then after a bit, it starts responding again. Then it stops responding again. It just carries on like this.

Hi everyone, i formatted my laptop due to virus but after the installation I discover that I was having unavailable brightness on my HP 250 g4 and I tried to adjust the brightness on f2 and f3 but is not working........and also I can not find sleep is just shutdown and restarted immediately I close up my laptop for like 2min when is time to upon it back it will delay me for like 10 minute and show me something like driver power state. Pls I want u to help me find solution to it have been on this problem now is about 3weeks now ..

Screen flickering when charging

My screen suddenly started to flicker randomly today. It seems to me like a hardware problem. It only happens when the laptop is plugged for charging. But I observed no such thing in BIOS.  What could be the possible reason for this?

Hi Dear,

hey there i am using hp amd a8 with two graphics cards one is integrated and one is separated the one who is separated in disbale in window 10 and not runnig enven when i open adobe photoshop it stuck for 5 times and before window it's open in few seconds i use SSD drive in my laptop 
or even i open some graphics it's not load proper for example if i open the site t10CL then it may stucks also

Videos Keep on Freezing/Lagging

Videos (except online videos), when played on any video player, keep on freezing/lagging for 15-20 secs. every 15-45 mins. 

 

I only update thru the HP Support Assistant and it says I have the recent drivers installed.

Random restart, black screen, blue death

Since a Windows 10 update sometime in November I am experiencing both random restarts, black screens and blue death.

 

The restarts occur unexpectedly, while in the middle of the work.

 

Black screens are as random as the restarts. The screen goes dark, but still light and there is no way I can turn it on to see what is happening.

 

Blue screen is the same, every time different message.

 

In the last week "at least" blue screens stopped appearing, but all the other are still happening.

 

I set the laptop's screen mode to never turn off, I updated the bios, checked for updates, ran many diagnostics that all turned out to be fine, no problem. Yet again, my laptop is becoming unuseable...

15-AW010NL - GRAPHIC CARD OLD DRIVERS & MANY PROBLEMS !!!

Hello everybody, i'm italian man and my name is Massimiliano.

 

I have a notebook 15-AW010NL and the Technical specifications says "Grafica AMD Radeon™ R7 M440 (2 GB DDR3)" with cpu AMD Quad-Core A10-9600P (RADEON R5).

 

Since I bought it, I've always had problems trying to update the graphics card.

If I update using "AMD Radeon Setting" I find the drivers updated but at the time of installing them gives me problems.

 

I tried both to force the installation via the official AMD website, I tried to install both the updated GPU and

APU drivers, but at the end the system does not correctly recognize both the graphic cards and the software Radeon Setting not says that there is no AMD product installed.

 

So I reset the original drivers through "HP Recovery Manager" with the software version 16.2.1(Radeon Settings Version
2016.0401.1415.23814) and in this way the graphics cards are recognized correctly but in any case the R7 is activated.

 

I tried with benchmark, with games (Assassins Creed Syndicate & Call Of Duty - WWII), with the AMD utility.

But the strangest thing is that the same is recognized as R8 M445DX and not with R7 M440.

 

So I made further attempts, doing a deep uninstallation with "Amd Clean Up Utility" tools and later with "DDU v17.0.7.6" software, below I have reinstalled the original drivers, clearly always doing thorough cleaning even of the Windows registry.  In any case I managed to see the dedicated graphics card working.

 

Since my notebook was under warranty I asked for support through "HP Support Assistant" and I was opened a ticket with which I contacted the operator who explained that in this case we had to proceed with contacting AMD directly.

I tried to talk to them, sent emails where I asked for assistance, but I did not get feedback.

 

I have found that my problem is not isolated, surely it is to be attributed to the model of notebook in question, but at the moment nobody seems to have solved.

 

I kindly ask for help, as the only R5 fails to guarantee sufficient performance with the activities described above.

Please if someone has had the same problem or knows a solution...or maybe I can direct me to updated drivers that can really take advantage of the dedicated graphics card, I will always be grateful.

Does anyone know if the 8th generation full HD version of the Spectre 13 in Ceramic White is available in the UK or whether it ever will be? I can only find the 4K version. In the US, I have seen that both versions exist.

After watching many videos and reviews, I do not want to buy the 4K version, because of the potential problems with small text/icons in some programs and browsers. My eyesight is not very good as it is.

From what I have read, there is no easy or very satisfactory solution to the problem. Therefore, I would like to take the good advice I read/heard and buy the full HD version instead. As I said though, that version, seems nowhere to be found in the UK. Not online anyway.

green screen on Star Wars laptop

I have a model 15-an044nr Star Wars special addition laptop.  On December 1, 2017 my screen turned green.  I got on HP's site to check my warranty and it says it went out November 30, 2017.  This sounds really shady?  My screen has lost all the red contrast.  How do I fix it and if it needs to be a computer guy that fixes it, where do I go in Lubbock, Texas 79415???  I am a Tech student and need this fixed fast!!!
