Increase AMD video memory but there is no option in BIOS

Hello, I have the same AMD A12 +r7 and the same problem, cant get to anything useful in bios, need an advanced section. I installed an extra 8gb ram so i now have 16gb in dual channel, going dual channel improved performance in starcraft 2 and bf3 by about 10-15 fps, which is great but still only have 512 dedicated. Has anyone made any progress? I need to unlock advanced bios or maybe edit vram in regedit. Any advice apart from telling me I will void warranty?

Hi there

 

hope there is so me clever guys in here to help me out with an annoying problem i have.

 

my laptop have 2 graphic cards installed AMD Radeon R7 M260 and ATI AMD Radeon(TM) R4 Graphics with the R4 card as the primary.

 

i have simply tried everything to get my R7 card to work.

 

1: i have tried to configure to maximum performance at the Radeon settings both for global and specific games.

 

2: have looked for the options in BIOS to switch the primary graphic card to be the R7 card

 

3: the options to use Dual Graphic / Crossfire doesent seem to appear anywhere.

 

ANyone with a solution to change the primary graphic card

Spectre x360 and Acer monitor via usb C

Hello, I have an HP Spectre x360 13" laptop, which has 2 USB C ports and no video ports, running Windows 10. I also, in the last few days, bought an Acer H7 Series 27” monitor with reversible type C connector.

 

I set everything up when the monitor arrived and they both worked perfectly straightaway through the USB connection (cable came with the monitor), the laptop was even being charged through the connection, which was fantastic!!

However, today when I was using the USB C connection and sharing between the monitor and laptop it stopped working after a couple of hours of use. I had left them both idle for a little while and when I returned the laptop nor the monitor was registering the connection i.e. no charging of the laptop or no screen sharing with the monitor. Note the laptop was fully charged and in sleep mode at this stage. When I tried restarting they would not register the connection so the laptop was still working on battery and there was no screen sharing with the monitor.

 

I have since tested the cable and monitor separately and also contacted Acer, and it has been established that they are both in working order. The two USB C ports on the laptop are also working - I have tested these separately.

 

So, I am wondering if accentually or due to some update on the laptop there has been some setting changed, which is preventing the previous perfect connection/compatibility between them both? This is very strange as they both worked perfectly yesterday and this morning when first connected up without any modifications etc.

 

Can you help with this please?

Help! Touchpad of my HP 250 Laptop suddenly stopped working today

I need Help please. My HP 250 Laptop touchpad stopped working today. But when I plugged in external mouse, the external mouse worked perfectly well.

 

I didn't do any software installations or any kind of updrade of recent, so I don't actually know what's made the touchpad to stop working.

 

Can anyone help me?

Ik heb de laptop nu een jaar, misschien langer.

Ik was te laat om mijn garantie te verlengen.

Nu heb ik dus een probleem buiten de garantie.

Er zit speling op de schanieren.

Ik klapte het beeldscherm om, om te werken als tablet.

En hoorde een kraak.

En zag dat mijn scherm uit de behuizing was gesprongen.

Dacht het wel terug te drukken, maar dat koste dus mijn scherm ,

Rechts onder in de hoek een flinke barst.

Na goed onderzoek blijkt dus dat de schanierpunten flinke speling hebben.zowel links als rechts

Kom op HP ,dit kan toch niet..laptop van 900 euro.!!!!

Wil het graag herstellen, maar niemand thuis bij jullie.

Ik wil graag coulance.. 

Ik hoop dat jullie team dit leest.Smiley Mad

So, I just got my Adonit Dash 3, and it kind of works. Unlike many other pens, this one doesn't frequently suffer the dotted-line syndrome when trying to draw a line but it only showing up as dots. It still isn't drawing decently, as about a quarter of the time, I need to erase and start from scratch on that stroke or line I'm drawing. So, after numerous stylus (even the ones listed by BestBuy as compatible accessories and the one HP Customer Support said would be compatible), I give up and am probably just getting rid of this laptop in favor of one by a company with proper sales, product management, and technical support.

Need a comaptible stylus/pen?

I want to be able to write notes on the laptop with a pen or a stylus, but I don't know which will be compatible. I have an

HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop - 15t 

 

and i already asked about the HP ACTIVE PEN. I was told that it won't work. Where can i get a pen/stylus for my laptop? 

Is there a way of switching of the screen on this machine whilst leaving the computer running

Screen cracked on my laptop just by opening it one month after I purchased it.  Didn't drop it.  Didn't slam it shut.  Just like the other 16 pages of posts for the exact same model.  What is HP doing to fix this defect?  I can't even find anyone who can repair it.  If HP doesn't fix this I'll never buy HP again and won't recommend it to friends.

Tablet mode and rotate issue after Windows installation

Hi,

I updated my BIOS as per HP Support Assistant, after doing so windows did not boot and said I had no OS installed, I went to the Microsoft website to download the ISO and boot it via USB, after doing so Windows tablet mode does not work at all when I rotate the screen the keyboard remains active and the rotate doesn't work. There is also an issue with a Windows Driver 2.0 in device manager, if I try to update it, it crashes windows with blue screen "Windows ran into a problem".

I have been to the HP website and installed all the drivers for the laptop but it doesn't fix this issue. 

Any ideas?

HI,

I have a problem with my notebook. my mouse cursor is blinking very rapidly and i cant right click or select any item or move my mouse pointer. but when i touch a key on the keyboard the blinking is gone and after some time it reappears again. what may be the issue. plz help. thanks

The VGA port is not working

Hello all, i am working as a ICT apprentice at a school, and we have a few computers of this model wich has the same problem. everyone has a problem with the VGA port. it is non respondant, and trying to update the drivers just prompts me with a pop up that says:  This system does not meet the minimum requirements to install this. 

 

I have also tried installing the driver from the Device manager, where it downloads and installs, but nothing happens, if i try again it will do the same thing, like it never installed it to begin with. My boss dont know the problem himself, but said it may have happened after our Image that we use on our computers where updated. 

 

i will be happy with all help that i can get Smiley Happy 

 

 


Monitor doesn't wake up

After waking up from sleep mode, my center HP monitor loses signal and goes black.  This happens repeatedly at no specific time intervals.  Changing the Power Settings makes little difference, as does "clean boot environment."

 

I have found that if I power off the monitor and unplug the power cord for 5 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the power back on, the blank screen problem is resolved until next sleep mode. 

 

I am sure that this is related to the monitor not recongnizing that the computer is "awakened" from sleep mode. 

 

All the drivers and bios from HP website are up to date.

 

All three (3) Monitors are  HP EliteDisplay E231i.  Computer is HP 810-445qe.  OS is MS Windows 7 Pro.

 

Looking for a solution besides unplugging the monitor.

Display issues with Elitebook 840 G3

So I've verified that there are a number of odd issues with the Elitebook 840 G3 and its configurations with various monitors already in this support forum. 


I currently have the following setup:

 - HP Ultraslim Dock

 - HP Elitebook 840 G3 (updated on all firmware/drivers/bios/etc as of 8/17/2017)

 - HP Z24NQ (1440P)

 - HP Z24NF (1080P)

 - Laptop opened and running its 1080P monitor also

 

I've been working with the setup for a week, in the 3 monitor setup.  It appears that there is something wrong/odd about the Z24NQ.

 

The NQ will randomly go dark/black and stay off until I hard power the display off and restart the monitor.  This appears to be a common issue with the 840 G3's in other posts I've researched.  Other monitors seem to have the issue, but the Z24NQ is repeatedly having this issue, almost a week or so into its use with my laptop/docking station setup.  

 

I would like to know if anyone else is having the issue, or if HP support can reach out to me and see whats happening?  I believe there is some kind of incompatibility between a driver or firmware (laptop/dock) and the monitor itself.  This is completely repeatable and I can showcase pictures.   

 

When the issue occurs the following happens on the NQ monitor:

- Monitor goes complete black.

- Power indicator stays on (solid white) at no point does it goto sleep.

- Laptop thinks the monitor is still present, and displaying.

- Monitor does not appear to register a sleep cycle at all, even after turn on/turn off.

- Extended period of cooldown seems required to regain functionality, turning it off for 5+ minutes seems to restore functionality.

- Sometimes when immediately turned off/on the NQ will display the desktop and then immediately drop to black screen again.    This is unpredictable though and happens infrequently.

 

 

I've tried several combinations of monitors with this laptop and no problems with this:

- Z23 no issues

- Z24NF no issues

- Z24N no issues

 

All other HP monitors seem to be completely fine without any concerns. I've also had others try their dell monitors, which again experience no issues at all.   So this seems to be a model specific bug.  It is repeatable on all the NQ monitors I've tried. 

 

Any help/input would be GREATLY appreciated HP!

My laptop has a broken hinge which is damaging the monitor and support are only open when I'm out

My laptop has a broken hinge and now the display is starting to split. It's still under warranty for another 4 months but guess what? Support open at 08:30 by which time I am on my way to work, and they close at 18:00 while I'm on my way home from work.

How do you get in touch with them either by email or phone cos they don't give this information unless they're open.

I thought HP were a good forward thinking innovative company when I bought the laptop but having had it repaired 4 times in the last 3 years and it's now broken again I think they don't care about anything but the profit they get from their customers.

Does anyone else have a worse customer experience than me? Remember I'm an ex-employee who was made redundant just before the company was taken over by a smaller company. I therefore have first hand experience of customer complaints falling on deaf ears. (My team was cut from 9 to 6 despite the customer complaining that the service went downhill following the first redundancy) then there was a further cut when I was made redundant and now the customer is looking to take the service in-house to try and improve their service back to 2016 levels.
