two monitors vga hdmi
I have a new HP pavillion E8C46UA laptop. Its windows 8.1 with a touch screen. It has a vga and a hdmi port. I can hook up either port to monitors and they work fine individually. But if I have them both plugged in, only the vga works. I can detect all three monitors (the laptop screen, the vga and the hdmi) but the hdmi monitor does not comeup. It is blank (black) except for a no signal pop up. I tried rebooting with them both hooked up. I tried rebooting with just the vga hooked up then adding the hdmi. Does this laptops video driver limit the outputs to just one at a time? If so why does it pick the vga over the hdmi.? If this is the case, what is an inexpensive way to get this laptop to drive 2 monitors? Would a hdmi to dvi dongle work?

HP G6 2240-sh gpu drivers not working properly
Dear HP,
I have bought 3 month ago an HP Pavilion G6-2240sh C6C63EA. I am pretty satisfied with the everyday performance, however I've always had problems with the display drivers. I have Windows 8 X64 pro and a Windows 8.1 X64 pro also.
First I used it with Windows 8 with the latest drivers which was available 2013 December. Then I formatted my HDD (after getting a nasty virus) and then clean installed Windows 8.1 X64 pro, to have the latest operating system. Since then I have problems.
There were no problems with the Intel HD4000, but the Radeon 7670m was not working correctly. I tried several drivers from the HP support site, the latest was: AMD High-Definition 1020-1022.
When I switch any application (with right click on desktop/switch video cards) to use the Radeon it crashes or just simply not working. VLC always crashes, Wolf Among Us doesn't even start.
With the Intel card everything just works, games included. My system says at every start up: 'load.mm driver has just stopped working' (,so the there is a problem with the Radeon driver).
I got fed up with this, formatted my HDD and then re-installed Windows 8.1 X64 pro. Now the system doesn't show this error: 'load.mm driver stopped working', however the applications still aren't working. It is the same as it was. But when I want to install the latest Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver it says: 'this machine doesn't meet the minimum requirements'. I installed the latest .net also, but the error is the same.
I found a guide here in this forum. I need to install the drivers in a specific way:
1. Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver, then reboot
2. Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI), then reboot,
3. Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
but at this point i bump into the same problem: 'this machine doesn't meet the minimum requirements'.
In device manager the Intel HD 4000 driver is present and working.
After this I installed the Radeon driver. At the startup there is no problem, but when I switch to use the radeon card the previously problem arises. For example: VLC crashes, games are not working.
In summary: I can use normally the intel VGA, but I can't use my Radeon Card.
After this I tried the same process with Windows 8 X64 pro, but the problem is the same. I even used older official HP Intel vga drivers, the message is the same: 'this machine doesn't meet the minimum requirements'
I even tried the latest generic Intel driver. After changed mannually the driver in device manager the intel driver installer ran and after a reboot the intel driver worked properly. However the Radeon driver still didn't work. I can't even install a gereneric official AMD driver.
Please help me solve my problem. I'm completely out of ideas. I'd like to play some games and watch BD movies with my Radeon card but it is useless like this. :(

HP Envy X2 - Camera not functioning after latest driver updates
Hi there,
Up until the 8.1 driver updates my computer had been experiencing a whole slue of problems - sudden crashes, audio cutting out, and video drivers crashing all the time. The latest fixes seemed to fix these issues.
However, these fixes did seem to come at the cost of being able to use my camera. It doesn't show up in my devices, and when I use the windows camera or Skype apps I get told 'please connect a camera.' I am an exchange student living away from my family and having them not be able to see me on skype is really quite a bummer.
How can I fix this issue without going back to the older drivers which made my PC have the above issues?

My HP spectre XT pro screen has cracked suddenly while I haven't even moved it from its last use
A few weeks back I was using my HP spectre XT pro ultabook as normal. I don't move it around so it just stays on my desk. All of a sudden (after using it that morning), I came home from lunch and as I lifted my screen up to turn my laptop on I heard a click click click sound and when I pressed the power button the lcd was cracked. It was not possible that it fell or anything as it had been on my table for a good week and I lock my room whenever I leave. Only used it for 3 months and this happened. Could anyone tell me if they have experienced this as well? I have always had HP products and apart from this, they have all been amazing and long term products. Surely if they open the laptop up they can rule out accidental damage and repair under warranty? My guess some of the screws were too tight?!

Webcam not working
Hi,
I tried to open webcam with 'cyberlink you cam software' but unfortunately its not getting open and the message poping up is 'No webcam detected.Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now.' Initially I thought it was problem with the cyber sofware which was 5.0, now I have upgraded it to 5.1 but still the problem persist and I am unable to connect to webcam.
Please note this laptop is pavilion 15-n012TX and its just 2monthsold laptop!
Please help me by making this web cam alright!

Envy 14 has blank display with working backlight
I have an HP Envy 14 that I bought in 2010. It's a great machine but the display has gone out. The backlight works fine, but the display is black upon boot and stays that way. If I connect a VGA or HDMI display, the external display works fine, so I know it's not the video chipset.
I've tried disassembling the machine to disconnect and reconnect the display, but that didn't help.
Does anyone have experience with this sort of failure? I'm happy performing a repair myself but I don't know what part has actually failed. Thanks in advance.
Edit: "upon boot" means the built-in display NEVER shows anything, including the bios messages during boot. The machine never suffered any damage - one day it worked, the next day it didn't.

touchsmart tm2 screen will automatically rotate
My laptop is a 2010 and a little over a year ago it started to do something weird. The screen started to rotate on its own. It rotated in laptop and tablet mode and then it would blue screen. I stopped using my laptop for MONTHS and i decided to use it again and it worked perfectly fine, for awhile. It is now doing the automatic rotation even WORSE and it constantly blue screens. The thing is if I boot my laptop in safe mode it will not automatically start rotation, but loading it in safe mode is such a nusciance.
What is wrong with my laptop? Do I need a new driver or something? Is it just broken period?

under tablet settings "RESET" Button is grayed out/ tried to calibrate but its not working.
I updated this last January tried to restore but there is no available restore point prior to the update
tried to restore using image but no image found.

screen problems hp pavilion dv5 1015r
I own a HP Pavilion dv5-1015nr Entertainment Notebook PC (Windows Vista). I purchased it in 2008 or 2009. Over this period, I have experienced minor problems. However, over the last year or so, I have been experiencing increasing problems with my screen. Generally, I will experience a band of white lines covering from the top to the bottom of the screen. While seeing these white bands, I could make out some color from what was on the screen. Recently, this problem has been getting worse. I will have lines appearing more frequently and remaining longer on the screen. I would get rid of these lines by moving the screen forward and backword until it cleared. What can I do to fix this problem? I would appreciate any help you can provide.

My laptop computer screen is black
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-103SG PC and lately I have been having problems with the computer. When I turn it on the screen is blank, and it seems like it doesn't log into Windows (because when it goes into Windows it usually makes the welcome noise) the Capslock light flashes, the CD drive works, the wireless light is red, on the left side in one of the USB ports it has a small light that flickers a bit and then stops after I turn on the computer. The laptop battery works, the AC adapter works (the light where the adapter connects to turns on when I connect it), I tried doing the thing where you take out the battery and disconnect the adapter and turn on the So everything works except the screen is blank, I connected another monitor to see if it's the GPU that's bad or my laptop's monitor, but my other computer's monitor doesn't detect anything which leads me to believe it's not my laptop's screen but something else. Here's the other thing though sometimes when I turn on the laptop the screen does show up and everything goes in like normal (the orange screen with the COMPAQ logo comes up, the Windows logo, etc...) but when I turn it off and then try to turn it back again the screen is blank, and I turn it off and on again several times until the computer decides to work normally. Right now I'm in my CQ56-103SG Notebook PC and I haven't really done anything to it and I am afraid to turn it off again because I feel like it's not going to work anymore (especially since my warranty expired), another thing that I have is that when the computer detects a new USB, my printer, or my hard drive it makes the usual 'detection noise but the screen goes black and it doesn't go back to normal until I move my finger over the touch pad (sometimes it goes dark again and I have to move my finger across the touchpad several times and eventually when it detects whatever it is detecting it stops). So yeah any ideas what this might be?

Need help updating all devices latest drivers, especially video drivers
I have an HP g6 Pavillion Series g6 2236tx laptop and I've had lot of issues updating my drivers. I've installed wrong drivers, had issues, downloaded old drivers, some drivers don't let my dedicated video card work, some don't let catalyst control center start (no settings that can be configured my catalyst center could be found). Recently I downloaded some 14.1 beta driver and my computer crashed so I'm here in need of help.

I would like step by step instructions to update my drivers for ALL devices in the laptop. I have sound but no images in Moviemaker. I have the same problems in some links (not in Youtube movies) with Internet Explorer. i have solved the latter through switiching to Firefox.
- I have checked the latest Windows updates (Windows 7 Home essentals)
- I have had the pc check all the codecs
- I have uninstalled Windows essentials and I have re-installed Moviemaker to have the latets version
- I have had the pc check for updates for the 2 videocards (Intel(R) HD Graphics Family + Radeon (TM) HD 6490M), but there weren't any available
Are there any solutions for this problem?

Screen inverter board question
Hello Everyone, I hope you can help me with my G60-443CL.
I've been having symtoms of a bad inverter board, i replaced it and seems to work for a little while then it went out again, so i thouhght maybe i got a bad replacement. I installed the second replacement and again it work for a little while and now it's failing again. Could i have a bad screen? Maybe a bad power cable going into the inverter? Anybody else have these issues?
