Hello.
I have just got a brand new HP Probook 450 G4 notebook laptop with Windows 10 64-bit.
I am struggling with the icons & text size resolution. I am currentl yusing the recommended (125%) , but still some applications looks very small and hard to read.
For example, my VBox virtual machine (it worked perfectly fine on my previous laptop, and it has guest additions installed.
** screenshot from my vbox installed.
Anotgher example is some of the text here in this forum, also on my e-mail; and some pop-up messages.
Attaching couple screenshots for reference.
** This is a popup message, once again very small text.
If i change the general resolution from the windows settings, it changes also my desktop icons size and text, some other apps text, etc. and this cannot be a solution.
This is a screenshot from my settings menu, which looks perfectly fine, icons & text.
I am currently running a drivers update (HP SoftPaq Download Manager) and we will see if some of the drivers installed will help here. however, i highly doubt!
** note: Does the icons on the attached screenhost here really looks as normal size, but blurry? the even more strange thing here is that this is the original size of the screenshot i took...... but in real the icons & text are still toooo small, and not blurry.
P.S. - One more thing -> cannot "activate" the wifi and sound quick buttons on top right corner of the keyboar. Any specific driver that i might have missed?
I recently purchased a HP Omen from amazon. It was certified refurbished, from great price tech, with a 90 day warranty.
When I took it out of the box, the screen was kind of popped out of the plastic backing, I though I would have to get a new laptop, then I just pushed the screen back into place in the back plastic. I am afraid that one day, the wiring is going to tear and I will have to get a new laptop. I can just keep popping it in place, but is there some way to fix this? Can I take it into a computer shop to get it fixed, or can they do anything about it?
There is one thread with this same problem, (not done by me), but I figuered another one would be good, considering the other thread it quite old.
I tasti del volume e della luminosità non funzionano più. Come posso risovere il problema?
my laptop will play videos in black and white (and some blue for some reason) when it is plugged in. When I unplug the charger and use the battery the color returns. Is the charger faulty or is there some problem with my computer.
Wanted to let you know that I am now done with HP products after this latest episode where you have basically "bricked" my laptop after running the "!Important!" BIOS upgrade as notified by the HP assistant. After two hours on the phone with support - who identified they have had similar issue calls (pc won't boot - black screen) after running BIOS update.
Support was cordial and di try to help but after speaking with a supervisor and him trying to find a local support partner to physically look at the computer (Denver here) and he could not identify a partner to take the pc to. Then was routed to non-warranty support and the call got disconnected - two hors wasted, a dead computer ... You get the idea.
This latest episode is after I sent the computer in - under warranty for a loud fan noise. I was told that I had spilled liquid on the computer and that the mother board and network cards needed replaced. I vehemently disagreed that liquid was spilled on the computer. Support offered me a "discount" for repairs - $150 - after two weeks without the computer - so decided to pay to get the computer back.
After running the computer on 2 months, the loud fan noise and heat got to where it made thee computer unusable. Found a replacement fan on-line - $30. Installed and my problems went away - Rejoice - until now.
Redirecting me to non-warranty support is the "kiss of death" - pay us $80 to see if HP techs can fix an issue that was caused by your own update! after being told that I would have to have someone physically look at the pc due to its black screen condition. Think I have confidence in sending to a HP repair shop after my first experience?
So, all I am left with is trying to let others know of my experience with HP and their products. After doing a quick google search on how to file a complaint and browsing the many other HP complaints posted, I have decided to cut my losses and never - ever get close to HP again, and suggest others follow suit.

Hi everyone, I need help with my laptop, not sure what's wrong with it...

update : also updated flash, silverlight. still same problems.
My screen needs to be replaced and from what I have read not only are there different models but possible diffenent suppliers with different cables/connectors.
Could you tell me if there is any way to find part number of screen I need to replace. If I supply S/N is that enough.
Thank you
Play the game for some time, the notebook crash
The screen is stuck in the last frame
Sound repeats
I was reading another thread where people were having overheating problems. My brand new lappy is doing the same thing with the screen being intermittent. I didn't check to see if the pre-installed Windows 10 did the same thing before I removed it and replaced it with Ubuntu 16.04 (linux). But, since I found a thread on here where Windows users were having trouble with the GPU overheating I can only assume that this wasn't an OS issue but it does appear to be a driver issue under linux. Anyway, when I do use the linux amdgpu driver I get a similar problem but when I boot with the kernel option "nomodeset" I never lose the display - although the screen resolution isn't what I want. Anyway, I tried the amdgpu-pro driver from AMD's website, the problem persists unless I use the kernel nomodeset. Does anyone have suggestions for fixing this problem?
I have read many of the discussion threads on this subject and do not wish to create a duplicate topic. However, I am unable to post/reply to the existing thread, and my concern goes beyond the hardware repair/warranty issues.
(1) I just bought and received a x360 13-ac076nr model configured to the "max": 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i7 processor. So far it is holding up quite well and I am impressed by it. I bought it with the intention of giving it as a gift to my niece who is entering college next year.
(2) Upon hearing from me about this gift, my niece responded with the "bad news" by sending me references from all over HP Forum from user experiences on the x360 - mostly on the cracked screen problem.
(3) I have been an extremely loyal HP product user: I have never bought any PC/laptop in the last 20 years except HP. But I am quite surprised that HP, whose reputation is quality and excellence, has had so many unhappy users with the x360. There must be something the users like me are missing specific to the proper handling of the x360 hardware.
(4) It would be very helpful if HP issues a more specific set of guidelines for proper care and handling of the x360. Perhaps, there is an expectation that the "2-in-1" feature of the x360 means one can "play" with the x360 as one would a 7 or 9-inch tablet.
It is important HP gives its customer base these guidelines so that the x360 hardware is used "the correct way".
Sincerely,
RTan
Hey folks!
I'm having an issue using the Active Stylus (T5E12AA#ABL) with my Pavilion X2. It seems to have digitizer or connectivity issues. I am unable to draw a line that doesn't disconnect. The lines also vary in width and are jagged (especially on the sides of the screen). Here are examples:
Things I've tried:
1. Exchanged Stylus - I've purchased two and both produce the same result.
2. Uninstall/Reinstall drivers - I've tried previous versions as well, with the same result.
3. Factory reset - no success.
The tablet responds to touch perfectly; it's only the Stylus that is causing me trouble. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Hi guys. This HP Mini M1000 had a very unique "black swirl design" pattern on the case. I'm looking for the image to set the background to match the case.
The pattern looked like this:
Does anyone have the full, large "black swirl design" pattern image? Can you post it online somewhere or email to me?

I am no longer able to FN:F4 switch between my built in screen and an external monitor plugged into the DisplayPort. In fact, seems that my FN functionality has ended altogether because no other FN key combos seem to do anything anymore (screen brightness, etc). I have the OS set up to update automatically, and it has done several updates recently. Thanks for any help!
I have a pavilion 23 that we bought a few years ago. we had a hacker get into our pc about a month or two ago. So I disconnected the internet and to cut off anything that may have been planted into our computer i went to the pc settings and chose the option to re-install the windows system. After re-installation everything was back to normal untill we tried playing a dvd as we have done before. Before the re-installation the dvds would play but now they wont. The "this pc" page shows what is in the drive but I cant get it to play. I'll click the dvd but instead of playing it. it only open the contents of the disc manually. It doesnt play it. how can i get it to play dvds again?

My laptop will not connect to the internet. I have checked device manager and there is a yellow triangle next to the Intel Atom(TM)/Celeron(R)/Pentium(R) Processor PCI Express - Root Port 2 - 0F4A.
How do I correct this error?
