Currently when I turn on the computer I can see it boot to the start screen. But it is like the backlight is off.
I am not sure if the motherboard has an onboard inverter that has gone bad or if the display itself is faulty.
I have tried 2 new displays but the first did not show anything after the power was turned on, and the second flickered for a few seconds and then went black.
Any insight will be appreciated.
Love my HP 15 Notebook PC, but I have trouble seeing the standard keyboard if the light is not really good, or in the dark, I can't see it at all. I use my laptop alot because I write. So I need to know if there is a way to turn the light on. I know there is a lighting system here, because sometimes when turning it on and off it flashes under the keys. Please help if you can! I am not a techie, darn it, but I am not computer illiterate either. Just need some direction and assistance. Thank!

I have a hp probook 4540s laptop with amd 7650m graphic, some days ago when i was playing a game suddenly the screen went black but the laptop was on, i restarted it and there was no change, screen is very dim but it is hardly visible if you focus on it. I found after it that the graphic card seems not to working and has a yellow sign in the device manager, i updated it's driver two times but it had no changes.
Even the games seem not to detect the graphic card for example hear: (computer detects but catalyst panel and the games not)
now i'm working with it by connecting it to the TV, i don't know the problem is from the graphic card or a piece of the screen has a problem (like the inverter or backlight)
Also searched a lot of forums but no answer

Hi, I just bought a 13" Spectre x360 with Kaby Lake Processor (AC-002).
I lost the pen and I need to buy a new one. I read the HP PCs - Touchscreen Compatibility with Pen and Stylus page and it said I need to buy the "HP Pen (Microsoft), 1CP24AV / Y0C43AV, SPS: 920241-001 / 910942-001" model.
My laptop OS was windows 10 and I haven`t had this problem before. After restoring the laptop to the factory configuration, it downgraded to the windows 8.1 (original OS). After that, some of my games (Like GTA V), doesn`t run on 1366x768 on FullScreen, because the scaling does`t work. The game runs on the middle of the screen, as the native resolution is 1080p (FullHD) and the resolution that I set for the game is smaller. I`ve downloaded the lastest drivers for the Geforce NVidia 940M, but it still don`t scale on fullscreen. On my Laptop`s NVidia Control Panel there is not an confirguration for Display Scaling. What should I do to play GTA V with 1366x768 on FullScreen??
Opened my new spectre, plugged it in, and started my way through the start up screens. During this process the screen flickered once and I thought nothing of it. I got through the Microsoft sign in and the once cloud screen and then the screen flickered again and went black. I still have a mouse curser but a black screen. No spinning wheel to tell me it is thinking or loading just a black screen. 10 minutes later still a black screen. Very Frustrating.

I have this display problem since I have bought this laptop. When I turned on laptop I have this screen. I checked to connect another monitor and I have perfectly normal screen. How can I fix it? Is it happening because of data cable or it needs to change lcd screen or because of hardware issues?
Almost everytime i go into windows login and the pin options appears, i touch the field and for a brief moment the virtual pin pad appears and then disappears. I select the field again and same thing, pin pad appears and then disappears. Until i do this 4-6 times, it wont stay on.
After doing a few google searches, i have noticed a lot of people are experiencing the same issue with their Spectre running windows 10.
I'm hoping this is a common problem and HP is already aware of it and has a solution.

Hi, this my first time here. OK the screen on this spectre is cracked. I'm coming to the USA next week and instead of getting the screen fixed here in New Zealand I'm going to bring the spectre with me to get fixed there, can you recommend somewhere i can get it fixed I will be in North Carolina

Brief history that might have led to current outcome:
The touch screen seemed unreliable requiring multiple touches so stopped using it. The battery was sporadically losing charge and subsequently laptop would not work unless plugged in. WIthin a few days the laptop altogether stopped working, no display, no keyboard, just the sound of fan and HD upon power up. I have tried the following things with no luck so far. Running out of options and unable to perform bill payments and such, since this was my main laptop:
Replaced battery
Tried powering down/up, holding power button for 30 secs, disconnected battery
Connected external monitor (hdmi), mouse and keyboard (wireless & USB)
Tried disconnecting HD to trigger an err situation, no luck..
This laptop has been very sparingly used in comparison with my other smart devices and I'm at a loss to comprehend the performance issues and my current situation.
Appreciate your help troubleshooting and hopefully fixing and/or recovering HD information.

Hi,I have radeon r7 m440 and r5 graphic,I was wondering can I change dedicated video memory because on this settings it show that dedicated video memory is 512mb and I have avaliable 4gb,I was trying in BIOS but i cant find to change it. tnx for you answer.
Worse when scrolling - jumps, flickers, only displays blocks of images, strange graphics and horizontal lines. I have done a hard reboot and powerwash. Could there be a loose connection? Could it be software? a board? or do I need a whole new display?

I am having a problem with my HP ENVY 23. Whenever I switch it on, the moniter's screen just stays black but the rest of the system appears to be powering up. The memory and the CPU works. Is there any way to attach a second moniter so I can see if the computer is actually working? Any help would be great. Thank You.
For some reason the simplepass stopped working and wont even open up the program. Dont think any changes were made when it happend.
